i have the 14 inch version and is a joy to use, impressive built quality, great keyboard, plenty of ports and v nice display, bought refurbished for 300 bucks, impressive
Just bought one for our teenager, replacing a 6 year old HP that has a motherboard issue (i.e. Repair may not be cost effective. Battery life is still 88%, charger tests fine, and I already replaced the internal power connector). This HP EliteBook X360 (G7) is the same essential spec as my work notebook. Price, with 2 year warranty, ~US$390. This is about 1/3 the price of my work notebook, which was purchased new a few years ago! A perfect notebook for her schoolwork. Very portable. Good materials/features/construction. I prefer the i5 over the i7 variant...she doesn't need the i7 for her schoolwork use-case. As well, the HP management of the i7 power/heat presents issues in this compact design. I saw more than a few of these i7's fail in my company, as they were heavily used by SW developers. The business people using the i5's had considerably less issues. Just be sure to shutdown the notebook properly before storing it! Saw more than a few batteries decimated by employees that routinely left their notebooks running inside their travel bags.
Got this machine today from my office, working on it is a whole different experience, 10x convenient but worst thing is that my usage is restricted to official work only 😑
It's so confusing how laptops are getting worse over time. Granted, it's a great laptop and the CPUs improve each generation. However, the G3 had a hardware volume rocker, power switch on the side, 1080p webcam (amazing for pandemic times), and a 120Hz panel (with Intel PSR to save battery on idle). I am so glad I got the G3, it just seems to really be holding up. HP needs to move forward, not stagnate. That said, I still think they are leading the pack in business-tier convertibles.
I also have the g3 since 3 years or so, and I love it! Only bad thing is the 16gb ram, I'd love to have 32. But yeah until the g8 generation there wasn't a lot of improvement.
Great review and info! Found one for just under 200 bucks, and after watching this video, I've messaged the seller about it ^-^ Would've been nice if that pen could've charged while on the side of the laptop, but USB-C is still nice.
I think they’re calling them “Elite” instead of “Elitebook”. I found the newest model to be HP Elite x360 1040 14” G11 Notebook with Intel Core; 125H, 32GB RAM, integrated Intel, and vPro. I didn’t see 13” on the HP website, and I haven’t seen any new models on resale (in my area) while looking this week.
Is the screen Matter? It looks it. I hate laptops that a like mirrors when looking at a dark image. I know they are more vibrant and colourful but I like the Matte.
Yes it would support it, it's x86. You might not get the best performance without a dedicated GPU, but it would still work great. With thunderbolt you can grab an eGPU as well. I run a 2060 SUPER on my 1030 G3 for an extra boost.
@@akraen1858 Sound like you know a lot about computer hardware. For a software developer, I don’t know much about hardware at all. If you start a blog explaining this things, I’d read!
