Imagine having a whole ass latch specifically just to print something
Thats litterally what I thought
And you don’t?
Its a gigantic flex tho
And it’s all for a grudge of quarters
Imagine having an ass latch
The most wholesome thing about this video is that, for all the puppers tech and knowledge, he wouldn't break the stickertown machine open... He's a good dog.
@ISABELLA ABALOS well he did it with the arcades
Since the thing still has electricity or some kind of power source when it seems the rest of the world lost it long ago, is in the middle of nowhere and seemingly has a pocket dimension for that long ass quarter tray to disappear into, I'm guessing this is an SCP type of machine that defies any known logic. For all we know, maybe they did try to break the machine but it just wouldn't budge.
It's an anomalous machine so it probably won't be able to or it wouldn't yield any stickers.
What a weird hell just constantly working through these harsh conditions in hopes of something different and yet it never comes
Yea but there has to be a reason he wants the star sticker like why would he want it in the end of the world
Interesting

It all makes perfect sense!"
He chose not to break the machine because, even after it had taken everything from him, he still valued it.
Because the sticker machine was the only "life" left, he felt like he could never kill it.

*We* have ever seen
I want overpriced stickers now
honestly I hope he never gets the sticker he's looking for, because from the looks of it the search for that sticker is the only thing keeping him going
lets hope he gets the sticker right when he dies so he is happy before death
If he starts to get really sad when he doesn’t get the sticker I hope he gets a slightly better one that isn’t the star so he won’t commit die or something
I think that was his last chance. It's a possibility that they couldn't find anymore quarters after that.
Well that's a grim interpretation
I- I don't think it was meant like that.
Seemed more like an obsession with finding this thing, and less of an "only thing keeping me going" extreme yknow?
I watched this during the school's Twitch livestream the other day, everyone was waiting specifically for this and another animation lol

i remember it starting and people started screaming about lesbians and i was so confused lmao
Feel bad for the animator of that other one - hope they didn’t feel guilty about the chatters waiting just for it, it basically turned everybody else into backseat mods trying to say don’t leave after that one out of respect, just a mess
but more eyes on it all soooooo positive?
me thinking “what about your coin on a string” and “you broke into every other machine why not this one”
I know right?!
Could be bc its a metaphor tho
I think it's a metaphor for cutthroat capitalism and how people do meaningless work for meaningless rewards. The ending represents that we keep coming back to it because of the supposed benefit, when the game was always rigged.

I feel like the writer is annoyed with the rising nominal prices of toy dispensers and how you never get what you want.
This couldn’t have been uploaded at a more appropriate time in my life.
I’ve been following you for a while here and you are one of those creators a check up on often, as your animations are just fantastic.
When this was first uploaded, my father had just passed away. My relationship with him has always been lacking and he died pretty suddenly and I was never allowed much closure in terms of what I wanted to confront him with. I had been cooped up in my room for a while and I was doing pretty awfully to be completely honest. I checked my sub box and saw this animation; I immediately knew I needed to watch it, despite the fact I knew from the thumbnail that it would hurt.
Throughout the story I was begging for our friend here to what he wanted, to have his struggles come to an end and for him to get what he wanted. When the story concluded I cried. I’m not one for outward emotion but I just couldn’t stop. He had been robbed of what he deserved for all his work just like I had been robbed of a father in much of my childhood. Neither of us got closure, and that’s just part of life I guess.
I’ve come back after all this time to re-watch this, and I’ve found that our common tale is one of tragedy. It’s no longer anybody’s fault for what we are missing, as all those who could’ve helped or been held responsible are gone, and have been for a long time.
It’s just a shame things don’t always get to work out in the end, but it’s important we accept when they don’t. It’s just a shame when things work out, nothing more, nothing less.
Thank you so much for sharing your art with us. Some may be silly, others may be serious, but either way, they are more treasured than you could imagine. I could tell you put passion into this animation, just like your others, and I can promise you that passion carries over to us onlookers.
I can’t speak for everyone, but I assume I’m not alone in the thought that your animations are extremely important to me, and that I respect you completely for your talent, work, passion, and everything else you put into this. Thank you, so, so much.
Thank you.
I wanna know the extended lore and history of this universe now

I haven't seen Hand drawn animation integrated with live action and CGI as well as you do from the Amazing world of gumball
I don't think there are any live action elements, it's probably all done in Blender using the grease pencil.
Question: If the main character has already been to the machine many times before, why do they have to print out a map for it's location? Unless it moves around by itself? We can already see that the machine doesn't obey the laws of space (ex. the length of the coin slot thing being pushed into the machine). Also birb.
Yeah, I'd guess you answered your own question
Who said he had been to the machine before?
@@evilyoufromthefuture6659 at the end it shows that he has multiple sad blob stickers (5:37)
@@thecatsinvasion The beginning implies that there was multiple, but they only had one star sticker each, but they all turned out as blobs. I guess it's really just tracking the stickers not the machines
Unless I'm just stupid lol
it seems that as you said this machine does not abode by the laws of physics, so I think it might be moving every so often, therefore he has to track the machine before he goes to find it
The man turned his back on the hundreds of supportive little friends in order to persue a treasure he'll likely never get.
Deep.
My _God._ Instead of just leaving a comment, I just gotta break down everything I love about this.
First-off, the environmental details and creativity. Things like the security cameras piled on our sticker-searcher's house, the old dog-racing horse activated by a quarter on a string, the many sticker-shops buried beneath snow, the gentle gathering of curious birds, or the swear-jars decorating an old floral-print bedroom... it is all of it whimsical in a way I have never really encountered before. It evokes a feeling of warm nostalgia... like sunbeams filtering through a dusty attic window. I find myself desperately seeking to emulate that feeling within my own works.
Next, there is the music. The base instruments themselves would not feel out-of-place in a monk's monastery, creating a sense of mystery muffled beneath feelings of stillness. Alone this would be nothing special, but when you combine it with the electronic overlay, the ticking timer in the background, and the rise and fall of pitch? The listener can _feel_ the frantic uncertainty if our protagonist and the strangeness of this world and their quest, all while the solemnity of snowy stillness hangs in the background...
Next, there is the story itself. You have always been good at combining that unique brand of nostalgic weirdness with a healthy dose of intrigue, and audience interpretation. The plot itself is simple, but serviceable. "Protagonist has goal, gathers items to achieve goal, almost gives up directly before goal, moment of triumph as goal is within reach, moment of despair as goal is pulled away at last second, moment of wonder as goal is achieved thanks to external force, final frustration as goal proves disappointing, end on protagonist vowing to continue chasing goal and reveal that this is not their first failure."
That by itself is nothing new. What therefore makes it so fantastic and thought-provoking is the presentation. In this desolate, broken world, the protagonist's goal is a sticker-dispenser that glows with heavenly light, and demands a hundred quarters. This is an excellent and whimsical subversion, yet what _truly_ makes it stand out is that by this time, the viewer is 100% invested in this sticker-dispenser. A lesser artist would have only made their audience laugh with the goal's reveal, yet here all they do is lean forward. The reverence with which our protagonist treats this machine is shared by the viewers, transforming it from sticker-dispenser to monolith of worship. We _feel_ the importance of this luminous star sticker, even when we can't explain _why_ it's so valuable.
Anyone can take a simple story and add whimsical elements, but to so thoroughly engage the audience whilst doing so? _That_ is the sign of a great storyteller.
I could go on, but it's been an hour and I have things I need to do. I've no idea if you'll even read this, but after such a beautiful display of skill I felt it was only right I take the time to express my appreciation to the full extent of my abilities. Your art is an inspiration.
U didn't just leave a comment, u didn't break down everything u liked. U wrote a whole novel

@@edithasd2806 Too much well-detailed text is always the best text.
Lil quarter man jus wants his sticker star why you gotta give him a goop
Multiple goops
Wow.
That's all I can really say to this, just Wow.
The visual design of everything is phenomenal, the muted colour pallet, the beautiful blend of 2D and 3D animation, the way you play with depth of field to immerse us in the story, just absolutely incredible.
The sound design made every single little bit feel grounded, and real, while the music really helped convey the emotion and set the scene super nicely.
And the story itself, without uttering a single word other than "Woop!" you made me feel so many emotions throughout this animation. I could feel the characters exhaustion, his hopefulness, his joy over the bird brining him the coin, and his subsequent disappointment over getting yet another duplicate all with just the phenomenally expressive animation.
And that ending, after all that, after this super well done characterisation of the main character and getting the viewer to root for him, that ending is just a total punch in the gut. The well done kind, the emotional kind. The one that is super hard to pull off with a character you've seen for about 5 minutes at that point, and yet you pulled it off masterfully.
This left me genuinely sad by the end, which is incredibly rare for me. I usually feel very distant to fiction, and it rarely affects me, but this was just so well done, that it just had an effect on me on a deep, personal level.
This is one of *the* best short films I have ever seen.

*NO BOUNDRY BORDEM NO BOUNDERY BORDEOOOOOOOOOOOOMM*
I Don't know why, but i sort of love how the poor boi is seen basically dismantling and breaking into vending machines and arcade games to salvage the quarters, all to have a chance to get one special sticker. As if they have some sort of inner promise that they will keep trying until they get that fabled sticker. instead of just cracking it open.
He's got a better attention span than me...
Yeah, it almost feels like the poor guy has made it through the apocalypse just out of determination to complete the sticker quest. He just goes and goes, finding the quarters for the machine in the hopes of one day getting a different sticker, ignoring the fallen world around him. I wonder what would happen to him if he ever actually got it.
If he did get it, he would probably realized that the world has ended and get a midlife crisis, and get depressed.
@@JustAnotherZoomer It's probably his only hobby, poor little thing, at least he stays true to the sticker machine

Maybe there's something holy about it.
@@thegnarledpirate9198 I agree.
Think about it, everything in this world is dead, unmoving, alienating.
Anything that has any semblance of response will either never get close to him or borders on dead.
Everything except the machine. The machine has warm light spewing out of it.
Interacting with it takes something from you, but has the opportunity to truly give something to you as well.
The dog is alone in a (literally) cold, dead world.
But the sticker machine isn't cold, isn't dead.
To him, it's the only other person in this world. His estrangement from it, his distance is what allows him to perpetuate this belief in it, the enshrinement of it.
It's the only thing that gives him meaning.
In short, It's his god.
The reason the birds come in at the end are to show that he isn't really alone. There are others there, he just has to look.
But he still doesn't quite get it. In the end, he stomps away, since all the meaning he had previously had was just dashed away.
The Birds' efforts to give him faith in others were wasted when they inadvertently became a vehicle of the dog's despair.
Yeah, I'm a virgin. How could you tell?
It's because the story is not meant to be taken literally but rather metaphorically or as an allegory. He has dozens if not hundreds of failed attempts, surely he could've cheated at any time, so why didn't he? He cheated on the ride to the city, he stole coins from people's house's (Even if abandoned) and machines, but why not continue that to the final machine?

I miss these sticker machines. I used to have one near me with cool alien themed stickers. She saw how amazing that one look and ask me to go again and again each time the new sticker remind her of why dropping dollars into the machine was so worth it. It reach a point where she just handed me $10 and told me to exchange it for change at the store and spend it all on alien stickers. I used to even collect the cardboard slips just because it felt like a waste to throw so many of them away all at once after spending so much money. It just one of those weird memories that will forever stick with me despite being honestly a boring event on a random day.

The anguish the character felt when they felt like they couldn't go on in the snow anymore, when they thought they didn't have enough quarters, and when they didn't get the sticker they wanted was portrayed SO WELL and the character didn't even have a voice, mouth, or eyes other than the glasses
Such a great animation, so much detail and thought put into it, an amazing thesis project for sure
I like this, most post apocalyptic settings you see are either deserts or jungles. You almost never see winter seasons this is something fresh
I feel like DeadlyComics looked at a quarter tray thing and just thought
*what if it was long?*
the animation was so SMOOTH OMG- science man’s character design was amazing too!

AND YOURE STILL GONNA TELL ME THAT HE/SHE DOESNT WORK FOR THE AMAZING WORLD IF GUMBALL OR SUM??
Edit: Just the whole video, I can’t take it anymore
3:35 - Damn, that guy has a lot of coins. ._. But of course, he's just one short. :p
I cannot begin to describe how cute that rock/blob is, I say much better than that ol' star!
