Don’t forget there’s also a weight in the hosel which makes the head more stable and should produce straighter shots. I like my i210’s and would consider upgrading but at nearly $200 per iron, I’ll be waiting to pick up a used set next year. Good review gents.👍🏻

Think we have to remember this is just one test. I’ve just watched a review you did on the i210 and you had consecutive balls land on top of each other dead straight down the centre line. Both irons are fantastic but I don’t think there is enough reasons to swap unless coming from an older set! Love the reviews. Cheers
In the i210, they weighted the clubhead using a weight in the middle to keep CG in the middle. In the i230, it’s a combination of the Toe and Hosel weights so it improves MOI.

Great review guys! I just did a ping fitting a few days ago, and I tried the i430/i525/i230. I absolutely preferred the i230, and that's what I ordered. I hit the club extremely well, very consistently. I preferred the look (thinner top-line) sound and feel. I thought I would be intimidated by the radically smaller head (I'm going from tour edge bazooka 470; my first set of clubs since high school. I'm almost 50), but it actually gave me more confidence, especially with the results I was getting. I have been back playing golf for just about a year after a break of 25+ years, and am a 15 HCP. Mid handicappers need not be intimidated by these irons; GIVE THEM A TRY!
I recently hit the i230s and was amazed.
I didn’t think I could hit a “players iron” so well. I think these could go in a lot of people’s bags. Even a high handicapper’s :)
Why are 2nd swings used clubs for sale on EBay cost more than new ones?
This review stands out because one model replaces the other, this type of review is more nuance and revealing..., the face angle, ball flight curvature, ball speed, and slight difference in spin rate shows what differentiates the clubs..., definitely helps the layman understand the fitting process. Replacement model reviews are more educational.
Tested these today and found the same result with dispersion. Absolutely lovely irons and so soft for a cast club head.
Defo the i230 toe weight that produces more MOI, thus reducing the amount of curve from that of the i210. As others have said it would be interesting to see if a lighter-weight screw would reduce the MOI and produce just a bit more draw.
I play the i210 and I draw them as well, sometimes to my detriment catching left hand green side bunkers so yes, I believe the i230's flew straighter for Thomas because of the toe weight which was helping to keep the face just a little more open through impact. Time me thinks to try the i230's...thanks for the review guys. I am only seeing it now that I am researching the i230's.

the straighter path seems to be because of the face being shut of the i210 which makes sense because of the smash factor and the draw to the left
I've watched enough of Thomas' swings to feel confident that he is using his same swing on both clubs and that the i230 simply flies straighter and with less of a closed face. It may be down to the weighting differences between the two clubs and possibly how the face meets up with the hosel. I mean Ping went with the weighted screw by the toe for a reason which is different than the i210.

WOW. WOW. WOW. I have the i210's and I simply CANNOT stop drawing the ball. I have a natural draw and want to draw the ball. It's just very hard with the i210's to hit a 3-5 yard baby draw. 9/10 times its an overdraw of 10 yards. I'm taking lessons trying to fix these overdraws, thinking its the archer and not the arrow. But, for a while its felt like the i210s are fighting me, not helping me. Now, after 3 years, I see this video! I feel like Charlie Brown..ARRGHHHH. I cannot believe the draw bias in a players club. Getting re-fitted next week.
The i230 is to my eyes the prettier of the two, but I do love my i210s - just so consistent and surprisingly forgiving.
Before looking at the numbers I wasn't expecting much difference. Thomas' explanation was excellent, other than ball flight curve, the i210 and i230 are, once standard deviation was taken into account, functionally identical but that ball flight curve difference is interesting. For me not worth the change because with the i210s I have a baby draw and do not want to lose that

I guess 1 degree flatter in the i210 would make these irons identical?
Looking at upgrading my i200s to these and there doesn't seem to be a noticeable difference between i200s and i210s, so I guess not a lot between i200s and i230s?

From I learned, I 230 weight in the screw influences the open face. In other words no reason to go flat to correct the left shot.

Yes weight in the toe is the culprit. You can fiddle with the weight in those heads if you want to dial it in a bit or add lead tape. But really, who wants to ruin a beautiful club with lead tape like that one. I think the weight in the toe is different depending on what club you have. I think it’s lighter on the lower irons and heavier on the higher irons or the other way around and I can’t remember.
Would i210 be tad more forgiving esp in longer irons for us higher indexes?

It's the toe weight dudes. Just more fade biased club.
both great irons Ping needs a reason to make money. i250 will come and they will move the weight around and guess what? They will be more forgiving!
They waited 5+ years to release i230 after i210. Indeed, both great irons...but they don't just release something to release it!
Did you measure the lie on each iron or assume they are the same lie since they are the same dot color code.
There are margins for error and it’s possible the i210 is .5° upright of spec and the i230 is .5°flat of the spec.
These irons appear the same except for the draw bias in the i210. Best option would be to bend the i210 up 1° and hit then again to compare.
I see very little in difference and if I had the i210 I would not upgrade to the i230
I would first check the lie, yes it's marked black but again could be different. If checked ignore. Another thing may be Thomas hits it another day or have even for that matter Drew perform the same test to validate the conclusion as he's been playing the i210 combo for quite some time. That might just make more sense. My 0.02 cents
What's the point in comparing i210s if you cannot get i210s?
For those who have the i210s thinking of upgrading to the i230s, to see if they are worth the upgrade.

Just adjust the lie angle. That whats is is for. Put in a red dot and redo it.
I did not like the feel of the 230s. They felt very clunky off the face.
No reason to switch as I see it.
