I just bought the Yuneec typhoon H , on ebay , said it flew 5 times, no crashes , tested without propellors , and it gave error message , motor fail , shut down , i e mailed seller , he said return it , and i watched the video , and learned i need to put the propellors on , and that solved the issue , Thanks , you just made my day , Bob
Agreed with previous posters... I had just experienced this after letting it sit in the box since Christmas while taking flying lessons. Ready to finally take this out on maiden tomorrow and while charging up the batteries I figured "what the hell" and turned on the motors. Thing freaked out as shown... proceeded to youtube to see if there are any fixes... saved me so much trouble and heartache by not having to tear this thing apart! Thanks dood!
I had the same problem on day one. Lesson learned. And I should have known this would happen. I work in the small motor industry. What the motor is doing when thrust is applied is looking for pressure to the motor. In short if it senses no pressure it assumes you lost a prop. That clicking noise is the motor running out of control as the built in tach sensor doesn't read any pressure to the motor. Normally with props on you will create a pressure on the motor. All it has to do is provide additional power to maintain a specific rpm. But with no props on, it provides rpms but nothing is going against the motor so it is continually starting and stopping the power (that's the clicking noise you hear). Still... I cried when it happened..lol
Yep... done that, been there. Bench testing the Typhoon H, 'to smart' for us old timers who'll bench test everything before going out to the field. It checked out perfect in the GUI when I tested the motors. Only doing a throttling up to simulate take-off did this issue occur for me. I did freak out a bit... especially when the motor sounded like a spoon fell in a running garbage disposal.
Good stuff! I wasn't aware that my H would do that. I can tell you that the "five rotor" system on the YTH works as promised, I had a seagull break half of one of my rotors last week while I was flying over the ocean. I was able to bring the aircraft in safely though, I am very thankful I got this UAS instead of a quad-copter. The video of the seagull attack and the aftermath is on my channel. The handling of the Typhoon does become sensitive in the five rotor mode and it shows in the video. - Anyway, thank you for posting this.
I'm in the middle of this I was filming inside at a indoor motocross and flew into a straw bale and broke 3 props only. So after I removed all the props I wanted to see if the motors were ok and this happened, I'm like oh crap I toasted some motors. Now I don't feel so bad I just received new props and have to do a test flight. Thanks for posting.
Thanks, just experienced this exact thing before I saw your vid....now that explains it. Question, when I take off with the props this time, my yuneec wants to tilt and fall. I actually broke a prop. Why is it not taking off straight up?
Hey buddy I have a question. So I haven't flown my H in over a year. Went to take it out and it wont start. Everything lights up as should and I have GPS but it wont start. When I push the start button it beeps at me. Please can some one help me?
This happened to me but the opposite sequence. I was flying and the system went haywire with this message. I barely landed and tried doing the motor testing without props and as you said, those alarming things happened. All motors were running. So tried a flight again and it went haywire again. I spoke to Yuneec, sent it to them and just got it back with a note that a rotor arm bracket was broken and they also replaced a motor. So there IS a purpose for this warning! ;-)
Hey Ray how long did the repair take from the time you sent it until the time you received it back. The last time I sent anything back took almost 4 months.
Douglas, It took about a week and a half. I get good service from them since I complained publicly (in forums, facebook, etc.) about one incident where the customer service rep was just rude and not helpful at all. Every response he made to my questions silently began with "Hey stupid...it's like this..." After that call, I called again and asked to speak to a supervisor, was busy, she called me back. I told her all about it, she had another rep help me who resolved it. I must be on a list somewhere as a "complainer or something because since then, I've had excellent and quick service. The few times I've sent someting, I always called to follow up after 4-5 days.
I will say there phone help is second to none probably that they are here in the US. How ever sending my TX st10+ took 3 months for them to fix but when I sent the camera in and the acft those two issues only took about a month and a half each.
Thanks, that's very useful, because I have to replace a lot of staff in order to get back to normal after the crash and when I try it.. I get this error... OMG... what now.. but it looks like this is normal... Thanks!
Excellent video, been there done that after I crashed and busted my landing gear and broke a couple of props. Bench tested it in my basement holding up my H because it wouldn't stand 😩 revved up got that warning started freely out thought the crash had messed up the gearing in one of the booms because motors were spinning just fine but I was getting that clanking sound as well. Yuneec has had my bird since 6/15 and when I contact them they tell me there's a couple more in front of me good lord I miss my baby there must be a lot of repairs going on😔. At least now I know the source of that error and sound Yuneec better not try to charge me for anything else but landing gear repair. Terrestrial imaging is by far the best dealer around their extended concern for their customers and this industry is the best period. I not only support them but about to order Phantom 4 with two extra battery's. I have no doubt they stand behind what ever they sell. Christopher LoPresti (the proprietor).👍
My power button doesn’t work most the time have to keep restarting till I get the power button to work any ideas HELP only flown the drone maybe ten hours I wiped everything clean and start for new and still doesn’t work right
Sounds like the power button board may be broken. It would be best to send it in to us so that we can have a look at it and diagnose the problem, and repair it.
This is for the 6 motor drone. It can manage to fly with 5 engines. The Q5004K has 4. You lose one and , well lets hope it is flying over soft grass and low. Imho they are superb machines, but supported by a horrible customer service, in the USA at least.
Fast forward to 2021 and I have had 2 x instances where this error has come up mid flight and the H has simply crashed landed (no control at all) replaced what we thought was a faulty motor however after flying (hovered and went through a battery) then put a fresh one in................flew out approx 350 mtrs......... then error "enter 5 rotor mode" H dropped out of the Skye !!!

That's what we're here for. Thanks for watching!
Good to know! Saved me the trouble of thinking that something was wrong with my drone.
Glad we could help! Thanks for watching.

That's crazy. Glad you got it down safely!
Hey brother this was an awesome video.. I’m sure it’s Prevented a lot of us from freaking out over it! Thanks man!
Lol, thank you for watching!
The problem I'm having is that push the red button to start the motors and only one motora starts and I get the 5 motor mode warning, any help?

You should check the hardware monitor in your controller. Your control sticks may not be working properly.
