This is the future for modelers. But I am not sure how long these free downloads are going to last and much respect for those people that offer these free services.
Amazing build James, my two boys loved it and watched every minute. ‘Excellent details amazing!’ William aged 9 ‘This is awesome the figures are incredible’ Albert aged 6
Looking very nice indeed mate! Great to see such high quality models for printing, and a brilliant job done by you on the painting, weathering, and diorama construction.
Beautifully done mate! Long time 3d printer here and I love seeing the more traditional hobbyists trying out the cool new methods! Gorgeous paint job on the Stewart and those tiny little apples on the engine deck! Have a good one 🍻
Very nice, looks right.......the 'troopers are on the money too. Sometimes, less is more as theres lessto deflect attention from the subject. I like this one a lot 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻
It's hard to believe those figures are only 1/48! Outstanding paint job! The guy on the right with the machine gun looks a bit like Daniel Craig. Well, to my eye he does. Excellent work!
As North of the Boarder is oft to say"It's not just good, it's good enough". Hi James I quite enjoyed this video particularly as I'm considering a) investing in a 3d printer b) still trying to figure out acrylics. The end result is definitely pretty awesome.😎
I know I have seen this dio IRL, but it was great to see the process now too! I may have to look at those linked files and see what I can do to mess about with them as well
Beautiful diorama! Really impressed with everything, the tank, the figures and the base with all the vegetation. I like 1/48 scale but not many tanks (except from Tamiya) around. Your finding about the 3D printed Stuart and other options from this japanese 3D artist is really interesting. I think it's slowly time to get a 3D printer and learn how to use it. Just don't know if I will find enough time to learn and build.
Thankyou Zona that's very kind. I think with 3d printing after a few prints it becomes second nature like with any of our techniques. And then you streamline the process and the only major time sink is finding or creating the parts, and supporting them. The rest us waiting and a bit of cleanup
I really like the 3D printed Stuart, it is one of the best 3D printed "kits" I've seen. One small issue I would have had is that all hatches are closed and also the periscopes are not installed so in reality the crew would be entombed. I now do my tank models with the hatches open and some crew figures. I really like the way you painted the apples, they look amazing. Also doing something like this is a very clever way of getting non military colours onto a military model.
I used to be a 125th scale Automotive Builder, I have been wanting to cross over to Military and build an armored vehicle but that would mean getting a whole new line of paint colors and it just seems overwhelming.... awesome build my friend I love your content!
Fantastic diorama, try painting the base board with watered down pva wood glue first, plasterers trick on old brickwork. I've never tried making a diorama but watching this makes it look like fun, good job James.
One day 3D printing is a quirky and flawed medium the next day holy shit, that looks absolutely incredible! I am hoping this means it will now be possible to have better access to more niche and forgotten vehicles, but will have to see how it can be applied
Thanks Ben, I think one of the problems for consumers, especially picky ones like myself, is that because a lot of the files are produced by hobbyists there is a mix of file quality. There are loads of cool trucks out there, but a good chunk of them have solid windows for example. Some make masterworks, and some are a bit iffy
Fantastic! I thought you actually bought a 48th Stuart kit, didn’t realise you printed it! The figures look awesome, the colours came out really well also. I’m guessing you’ll model weapon slings next time? 😉 Brilliant build and a great wee base to display them on as well. Loved it!
Thanks Andy much appreciated ! There aren't many proper 1/48 Stuarts about oddly. Ahh you spotted the lack of slings, it's all just a big test.. nothing to do with being forgetful 😀😅 Just kidding . Thanks for the kind words !
@@lpjmodels yeah. Not sure why they don’t have many kits out for the smaller vehicles like Stuart’s and such. The smaller Japanese tankettes would be great to see in 48th! Slings….yeah, I always forget them on my models as well….I mean for testing purposes I never put them on 😂 awesome vid!
Hi James, that 3D Stuart kooks absolutely outstanding, I have to admit I do not rezlly understand about 3D printing, can you get a 35th scale version? That would be a good size to see built, as it is my prefered scale, but your build looked perfect, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
Thanks Les. Yes any file you get or create can be resized. I use the tools on this site a lot. www.scalemodelersworld.com/online-scale-converter-tool.html And there is a section that can covert in % 1/48 to 1/35 for example. So in your slicer software, where you prepare the file for print you can rescale everything from 48 to 35 by changing the percentage to 137.14% then that's your things upscaled
I don't want to be a downer, but I'm just not a fan of 3d printing and resin parts. That said, you did one hell of a fine job with this diorama. I can barely make a 1/35 or 1/16 figure look respectable let alone a 1/48. Your figures came out excellent.
Very well done dio, figs and tank. but I have to say wouldn't the paras be better behind the tank for cover? Not to mention I wouldn't want to be in front if that main gun or mgs go off while in front..
They look crazy good for a home printed model! But tbh die uniform/Colors are wrong. In normandy the paras used the M42 uniform in beige and after normandy (September 44 for market garden) got the M43 which is the olive green one.
Thanks ! I had trouble with the research on this, I'm.not clued up with US uniforms. And Band of Brothers didn't help ( I know, don't use TV as reference) but I was hoping for it to look in place and authentic at least
33:40 Thats not a print flaw, thats a modeling flaw. Large rectangular polygons on the model need to subdivided down if the surface they are representing isn't perfectly flat. In STL (an many other formats) all N-gons will get split into triangles. Those long defects along the side are the diagonal edges dividing what were large rectangles into two triangles each. These kinds of flaws can either make the surface concave or convex as a result with the hard edge showing down the middle. More subdivisions/polys making up the surface would minimize this to the point it disappears entirely. To give the benefit of the doubt to the modeler, this is usually hard to notice in the modeling software if you don't know to look for it by turning of the surface smooth-shading so you can see how the edges are breaking, if at all. Cheers.
Thanks @vorpal_Wit that's most interesting, and oddly although I am personally a complete novice at 3d and I'm not on board with lingo I know exactly what you mean thanks to your explanation. Something to consider for My own projects in future
@@lpjmodels Sorry, 25+ years as a 3d modeler makes it hard to stop myself sometimes. Also, as an avid 3D printer myself, I don't want to see anyone wasting time and materials trying to fix a problem with their printer, if the problem is actually the model.
Yes plastic is a lot softer, so reduces the chance of the blades breaking and wearing out quicker. I usually use xuron style cutters but sometimes need extra finesse
This is the future for modelers. But I am not sure how long these free downloads are going to last and much respect for those people that offer these free services.

A New LPJ video is never a bad news!
Great work! Das is sehr gut 😁😁

I like your in depth explanation of your technics and the colors you use. Very nice work.
Thanks Gregory !

Thanks ! I agree, I like to keep em simple when possible
awesome to see Jun getting more mainstream attention! his website has been invaluable for ppl like me who work mainly in 1/48
He's such a Chad for providing these excellent files
Wow! I missed this video! Very good work James)
Really nice. I think you nailed the weathering on the Stuart, not too much. After all they had only been in combat for a few weeks. 😎😎😎😎
Thanks Sera much appreciated ! That was exactly what I was going for
Wow, amazing work 😮👏
Thank you! 😊

very good video and really like your work.
Thank you very much!
Awesome work James. Thank you for sharing.
Thankyou ! Much appreciated 🙏
As always James, fantastic! Thank you for this.
The model is amazing quality!
Thanks !
Thanks James. Another great video. =)
Cheers Johnboy 🍻
Hi James, really enjoyed the video gives me ideas for my own M5A1 but a little bit larger scale.
Thanks Andy, yes 1/48 isn't the most popular armour scale, I was a bit put off with the extra print time for a 35th so I stuck with the supplied scale

@@quadegermany2200 thanks man !
Stunning , thought it was 1/16 build before noticing the title😅
I don't know if I'd finish a 1/16 tank 😀
It looks fantastic.
Nice work, James. And all that from a 3D file 💥👍💥
Bonkers isn't it , it wasn't too long ago that I was hesitant to get aftermarket stuff because of cost. Now I can get a cheap file or make my own
@@lpjmodels yes indeed, this really goes into the direction of bespoke model ordering and making.
Lovely stuff mate!
Nice build, thank you for all the extra tips.
Nicely done

Thanks ! You can mix a lot of shades. Just start with a simple vehicle that needs only 3-2 colours.
I can hear @fenrismodels having a conniption shouting ‘I HOPE YOU WERE WEARING A MASK WHEN YOU WERE SANDING THAT RESIN!!!’ Lmao
Came out great James!

Why do you say you shouldn't be using the God Hand nippers? Is it because they're designed for use on plastic sprues?
