  • It is true that the new S-2200x does not offer anything new, it is Tecsun Technology put in a S-2000 box

I have a good working Grundisg Satellit 650 international and think I don`t have to buy a Tecsun because only for more memory places. Thanks for your real opion about the reccycled parts.

I got one of the last production-series Tecsun S-2000s recently, actually the last one sold at my local radio shop. I have to admit that the feeling of having a "radio corner" with a big radio that's always there and with all the knobs and buttons and possibilities to add antennas etc. (plus the great LW/MW-ferrite antenna) gives a different sort of radio feeling than sitting on a couch with a portable. The S-2000 has some limits, but also some pros compared with my portables, but it's still a good radio. Maybe I am one of those that fell for the look & feel, but well...isn't that part of this hobby, the feel of it? :)
Let's hope this S-2200 will develop into something great.

Modern consumer grade radios are already quite amazing given performance/price ratio unheard of a few years ago.New is not always better, many times new equates to a new way to cost cut a product.

In it's present from it's a very attractive radio with decent but not perfect performance . If those issues are cured on the new one that's great . Why change what people already like the general appearance of . Depends on the price of course . It worries me that your tuning has gone faulty . I have had reliability issues with Tecsun radios also . Mainly with a 330 and a 600 . I have had a 2000 for 2 years now and used it a lot . So far , so good . I still think Chinese equipment can be hit and miss . Impossible to get repaired here in the UK too so I hope this new one is ok in that respect . Only time will tell .

If the intention was to improve on the S2000 than it's welcome, It looks very nice, and adding new features is a good thing.
I see that some functions have moved to other buttons in order to add new features in a logic way.
About your tuning knob stopped working, You can desolder the tuning encoder, open it and clean it properly (it is sealed so you will have to open it), you can order replacement encoder from Annon-Co and just replace it.
    Best Regards,
    Moshe.

I bought this unit when it was still a Grundig about 10 years ago. It was $250. Thanks for the video.

It was not a Grundig...it Was a Tecsun S-2000 ... Grundig was just used as a name that was sold long ago.

I had one for 3 years until it died.
It was a disappointment. If anyone is going to review,I would prefer it be you.
You'll tell the truth. I'll be watching and waiting for your thoughts😎

Won't that create some confusion? I mean, if it's going to be in the same case as an Elite 750, how will people know if they have the old or the new model? I know the Tecsun version is not called the elite 750, but you know what i'm talking about. They're sold by different companies, but they're essentially the same radio, like RadioShack used to do with Sangean radios. That radio that came out recently that everybody got upset about because it had a problem with the HD lock (among other things), didn't that one use the case from an older radio? I couldn't see any of the print on it. Was it easy to tell them apart?

I hope the new model fixes all the short commings . I also hope it has battery charging capability and still takes D cells. I was going to get one until I heard what you thought about it . I am looking forward to your thoughts because if it's favorable I am going to buy one .

It looks exactly like the Eaton Elite ... no way i'd pay very much for it when you can buy ham radio for nearly the same price or go the sdr route ....

The fact that your tuning knob is already malfunctioning is further proof to me that you have a defective unit. I've owned my Elite 750 since August 2021 (purchased from Universal Radio); use it daily; and have had no issues with the mechanical aspects of the radio whatsoever. In fact, all of the knobs and controls still feel silky smooth. While I can duplicate the Wide Bandwidth issues you have demonstrated in your reviews, I have had no issues with operating the radio in the Narrow Bandwidth mode. Selectivity feels fine and I don't feel the need to detune slightly to avoid a "muffled" sound. I also have not experienced severe overloading issues. Still say you're the victim of some QA issues.
But, just so you know, I appreciate your channel and your reviews and am eagerly anticipating your review of the upgraded unit. I have also really enjoyed your "looks back" at some of your past radios. Thanks for all the informed videos!

only the knob is defective...that radio is bad in its design and the review I made stands ALL of them suffer from all the flaws I demonstrated and there are several top reviewers that all agree... you have the same issues... you just dont have the know how to notive... BAD Radio that is it!

With all these cheap, analog dial DSR radios.... Tecsun should have done an approach with a huge sized analog dial, DSP radio that looks like those large old Grundig's of the early 80s mid 70s with the size to match.

True. They could have made it a little more efficiently. It looks too utilitarian. There are other newer sets that are designed with a completely different design philosophy like the Choyong model you had on earlier.

The s2000 is one of the very few modern radios that dont sound like crap. A large part of that is thanks to audio amp and speaker size coupled with a properly large case. No way to make a small radio sound good.

  • @garyhardwick8489
    @garyhardwick8489 2 місяці тому

I'm quite disappointed with my S2000. I don't live in a great area for reception so despite signal boosters, half decent aerials I still can't listen to much. The airband is useless. I have a small and rather old Sony compact that is in some cases better!
