Teddy doesn't get the props that he should. Not only is he a hell of a trainer but I have a degree in psychology and his thoughts on boxers and life are right on point.
      Also he's funny and likable.

I really have enjoyed these shows, Cus was certainly an inspirational figure. I'd ask Teddy about Harry Grebb, he never seems to be mentioned and with hardly any film of him is largely unsung but what an amazing record the guy has. I wonder if Cus spoke about him at all and if Teddy knows much about him.

I've followed boxing for 20 years. But I've realised I didn't know anything about the game until I started listening to these podcasts. My only request would be to hear more about the technical side. So, I know what to watch for when I'm seeing one play out.

Yep. We need to hear about his reflections on training the great Jose Napolese. And also whether Amato ever spoke about the Liston-Patterson fight -- from what I've read he was totally against the match-up, because he knew how fearsome Liston was. Good to hear Teddy give Liston props for his greatness. His jab is the most hurtful I've seen in any division. No range finders. Every one a bag of bricks in the face.

Mr Boxing If u ever check out that book "Tyson my life with Cus D'amto Iron Ambition" it's good & more then 500 pages. A lot of People don't know that Cus told Mike about a Jewish Fighter named Arty Diamond who bit a guys ear off & spit it out in Prison. Tyson didn't say that's why he bit Evanders ear but that might've been where the ear bitting idea seed was Planted. The books is a good read for any Boxing Historian. @Mr Boxing context buddy .. We were all horny teens at one time and did dumb shit. You cant condemn a man for the rest of his life for something he did as a teen. Btw he was fighting grown men and being called a god while trying to stay out of prison and surviving Brooklyn NY. Havent you ever been slapped for being too forward? Now if that girl tells her crazy uncle and he pulls a gun on you and threatens your life who is handling it wrong? If a 15 yr old white kid from Catskills does it no one bats a eye and at worst he gets scolded by a parent.

I've never been a particularly huge boxing fan, but for whatever reason for the last couple years I've been catching up on the last 30 years.
Mike Tyson was the first Superstar athlete of my generation ( I'm eight days older than he is ), and I loved watching him fight and I admire him still.

When Teddy starts talking about the details of crafting the peekaboo style, and training fighters to not only be effective and efficient, but be exciting so the fighter could be marketable and make money, there is nothing better than that. I'd love to hear Teddy watch and reflect on some of his great moments in calling fights, like his reaction after the Emanuel Augustus Vs Courtney Burton Decision.

I'm sure Teddy would have done a great job too. I think the key thing with Tyson was that physically, he was obviously in a different movie to just about anyone. His issues were all on the psychological side. Cus mainly looked after those and frankly many trainers could have handled the physical and boxing side with such a talent as Tyson.

Probably the best episode you guys had so far Teddy, you see you don't have to talk only about boxing and stats to make it fun ;)

The stories of Cus are never “belittling.” They’re funny, but respectful of the “genius” of boxing that he was. I’ve read ATLAS: From the Streets to the Ring, 2006. A great book. A father would do well to give this “Son’s Struggle to Become a Man,” to his son to read.

I’ve read teddy’s book quite a few times over the years it’s one of my favourites. and this is my favourite podcast, I think teddy should write a book about his 8 years with cus, I’m sure it would be great, thanks for this -Tony

This is a great podcast. I've known professors and phd students who aren't as erudite as Teddy.

They are all fantastic but this 2 parter has been something really special. For us Boxing fans knowledge like this is like a Christmas present or something.

My mom and dad grew up during the depression and they were the same way about food. My mom and dad always grew a great garden. My mom kept a pantry. And it was always full. My dad loved to cook and bake. Food was a sacred part of life. They always emphasized not to waste food. We could all learn a lot from the older generation.
