The Class 442s have now been permanently withdrawn by South Western Railway and will be replaced by refurbished Class 458s which will be transferred from the Reading line and reforming them from 5 to 4 coaches and re-rated to meet the need for 100mph operations and other modifications to associate them for Mainline services to the South Coast
I was also reading that the Class 442s that would had needed more modifications and had to be compliant and to be fully accessible by 2024 to meet Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM)
It is sad how it ended for these iconic units. They could have just converted them into MK3's and used them for railtours. But no, the bastards decided "We can't be arsed", and ditched all of them, except for one powercar.

I’m defo missed out on having a ride on a 442
So 442's can continue? Despite some already scrap. But some/most of them miss old 442 trains very much.

Don't we all love privatisation? 🙄
Anyone know where the last DTS powercar of the class 442 is?
@@TrainLifeGB Not sure, but I know it's on display somewhere.
@@TheosTrainsWalesOfficial Gatwick Express should've kept the 442s
Hope I'll get to ride it someday
Hopefully you rode it in the last year, they're currently being scrapped
@@audigexwhy did SWR scrap the 442?
What do you mean by the new Guildford Line? Isn't it the same?
@bob Oh so some divert now?
Effingham Junction sounds like... you know. F***ingham Junction. :D

442's are such odd looking (and sounding) trains.
These trains are so problematic 😂
