I bought a sump pump from Home Depot 8 years ago with a lifetime warranty. It went bad after 3 years and Home Depot replaced it but they replaced it with one with a 2 year warranty as they no longer offer the lifetime warranty one. This one has been going for 5 years so if it fails, I have to pay for a new one.
I believe the ones that were redesigned after 2016 or in 2016 are built better the crappy Nissans were the ones built from 2001 to 2015 and they were trying to save money in order to sell more to make money so they didn’t go bankrupt in the early 2000s. I but anyways I believe Nissan’s quality is higher now how much higher I don’t know it might only be slightly but I do believe the quality is better now than it was then I was even better in the 90s than it is now.
I gave my sister in law a 2012 Nissan Murano Platinum in 2016. The only thing that went wrong so far is the MAF sensor which was an easy fix. Today it has over 300,000 KM but it runs like a champ. The car was made in Japan over 10 years ago and it’s been through 10 Canadian winters.
@@sickfoo5506 weird. am living in a tropical climate and in constant traffic. our 2014 x-trail still hasn't had any problems. fingers crossed it'll stay that way.
He didnt read the fine print. He is screwed. I will Never buy a 3 cylinder engine. And that VC is uneccessary it is nissan’s way to use us as a Guinea pig!!
No kidding! You better make sure you get all your recommended scheduled service at the dealer. And they’ll make sure you pay handsomely for it. Plus what if the dealer is sold or goes out of business.
Actually most people don't keep their car more than 3-5 years anyway, they're betting it's long gone before their so-called "lifetime" warranty is needed (which BTW they'll try to dispute anyway over some minor technically)
I hope it lasts a long time for you. Personally I’m not buying another Nissan. Coming from a 2013 Pathfinder (made in USA) and 2018 Note (made In Mexico) It’s not just the trannys but poor workmanship all around. And I’ve never missed a service date. Maybe I’m just not lucky. And I really love Nissan designs. Wish I could stay loyal to them, but for me it’s time to move on.
@@tim8532 No problems so far. I've been able to squeeze out 31-33 MPG on highways here in Chicagoland. No gas smell in the cabin which is apparently a problem other owners have been reporting. Been changing the oil every 5000 miles.
My grandfather brought a Buick and the dealer had a lifetime oil change program. After 15 years when he was in his 80’s the only time he drove that car was to the dealership for his free oil change. Lol. They hated him but honored it.
Just bought a 23 SL AWD. Beautiful vehicle and huge improvement over the last generation. The VC-Turbo is lightyears better than the old 2.5L. Never had a problem with any of my Nissans.
Michael Nobles, I'm fond of KISS....Keep it Simple Stupid. A 2010 1.8L, 4 speed A/T Corolla and a 2004 V6, 4 speed A/T Avalon XLS that are fully paid for and easily and meticulously serviced by me.....both will be running well when I've left this sphere.
I think he’s just being a nice guy in this video because his customer is with him, but for me I’m never getting another Nissan. Coming from a 2013 Pathfinder and 2018 Note.
The best car I have ever owned, and still do, my 350Z. bought it new 15 years ago this December, 90K miles. Still running like a champ. Replaced passenger side window motor and the two rear hubs. that's it, fellows.
Got a new European Nissan SUV Qashqai with 7-speed DCT autobox. 4-cylinder turbo engine. It's a brilliant vehicle. Plenty of poke when you put your foot down, gears are very smooth and it's very quiet and comfortable. For all you Nissan haters out there, you would be shocked at how far Nissan have improved. Great ride.
I have a 2022 Rogue SL and I love it! The car moves getting on to the parkway, and I get 28 city and 37 parkway miles on gas! It's great and this my 5th Rogue.. haven't bought any other car but a Nissan since 1982!
Do you hear a "whirring" sound when you drive over 40 mph? I hear mine doing that upon deceleration too, until about 35 mph, then I don't hear it. I've been told by the dealership that it's the turbo. Kinda annoying. I override it with the radio.
I have the 2018 Nissan Rogue, and it also acts like it's shifting. I also get 35.5 miles per gallon on the highway and the transmission shifts smoothly and incredibly quiet highway cruising.
We bought my wife a brand new 2015 Rogue SL and I have done all the appropriate maintence myself including changing the CVT fluid every 30k miles from the start. The vehicle has been very reliable and we haven’t had a single issue with it except the around view camera mounted under the passenger side rear view mirror went bad so I picked up a used one on eBay for $50 instead of paying Nissan $700 for a new one. The vehicle currently have almost 100k miles on it and we have been very happy with the purchase so far. Of note: My wife drives it in ECO mode all the time and she is a mild mannered driver so the CVT is not being abused.
you are referring to the rogue. for some reason a lot of people spell it rouge- and sometimes they actually call it that. good on you for servicing your CVT every 30K and seeking out/finding an 'experienced' mirror/camera for less. do you or your wife use both feet to drive it? the CVT control unit or 'brain' can recognize that and you can actually preclude the downshifting mode at lower speeds by using the brake pedal lightly while on the throttle with your right foot. just one of several tips you can use to maximize your nissan CVT-equipped car's fuel economy. of course- being a non-aggressive driver helps a bunch in that regard, as well. enjoy!
My wife has an x-trail(Rogue) 2005 model she drives it like a Bastard, heavy on the brakes and accelerator! 185 000ks got with 35000ks just replaced the starter motor! The dashboard is still intact and the vehicle is a joy to drive!
All the new vehicles are absolutely beautiful and marvels of technology and great to drive with every convenience but they are over engineered and way beyond the most experienced technicians at the dealership. When you hear the phrase come from the Service Mgr "that's normal, there all like that, don''t worry about it." That means they don't have the expertise to analyze and repair a problem. I have 3 cars, an 05 Titan truck, simple V8 and 4 speed auto, an 06 Accord with the 2.4l bullet proof engine4 and 4 speed auto and an 18 RAV4 Hybrid with the old style port injected 4 cylinder. Yes it is a Hybrid but nobody does hybrids better than Toyota. My advice, try to find a used vehicle , low miles with tried and true technology if you can find one.
My wife has the rouge sport, she loves it, I have to admit the tech Nissan puts in their stuff is off the chain. When I test drove it it put a smile on my face. The power curve with the cvt was weird. It felt really different than I was used to. 4 years and absolutely no problems. We let them service it.
Do you let them service your cvt oil change at 25k miles? My nissan guy is telling me to do 50k but the manual says to do it at 25k and my power train warranty is only till 60k
@@DamianTran odd. It's technically 35K. But hey dealerships do whatever the heck to get your money. If they really cared. They would build better quality parts.
Just got my midnight 2023 it drives like butter, nice hp , and surprisingly very fast. Very luxurious inside. Ive been in the crv and the rav 4 and u cant even compare. So so so thrilled with my new car❤❤
Do you hear a "whirring" sound when you drive over 40 mph? I hear mine doing that upon deceleration too, until about 35 mph, then I don't hear it. I've been told by the dealership that it's the turbo. Kinda annoying. I override it with the radio.

We bought the new Infiniti QX55 with the turbo VC with like 270hp. It is an absolute rocket, the motor is really cool. Just wish it didn’t have a CVT but it pairs well.
Keep your eyes on Nissian…. They are making a pitch to get back in the car game! They already have great technology for example G-TR and the new resigned Frontier Truck V6 no turbo.. The 2022 Sentra is also a great mileage car 29 to 39 miles per gallon and the CVT has not been in issue for years now. I’m a Toyota guy but, very impressed with the details of the vehicles example lines of the cars are straight & great paint. My 2022 Tacoma has terrible lines and the Paint doesn’t match throughout the truck. Thanks Scotty for the Video your the best!!!
Nissan makes some great engines like the VQ and the VK the latter being way stronger than Toyota’s UR series. Nissan don’t have the Toyota tax and resale value means nothing to me because I drive my cars until the wheels fall off.
Yeah, you have to STRICTLY adhere to EVERYTHING the dealer recommends to keep that warranty intact... So if they want to charge you $150 for an oil change and tire rotation every 3k miles, you gotta do it and you HAVE to do it at that dealer franchise or it's invalid. In the real world those unlimited warranty's from a dealership are about as worthless as the paper they are written on. I bought a car from one and just made fun of the warranty since I wasn't going to use it anyways.
I'm on my 3rd Nissan. had 2 Sentra's, and now driving my 2013 Juke that turned 88,888 miles yesterday. I love it to death. Usually trade after a few years, only repair was ball joint, tie rod, and a control arm which seems to happen to these cars. Not fond of using premium fuel, but I do it as recommended.
In my experience those lifetime warranties dictate who does maintenance. You wouldn't be able to do any DIY oil changes. You're tied to the dealership service center.
nonsense- responsible owners use factory parts and do their own service. if they have their parts receipts and document the work- warranty acceptance is never a problem.
Exactly this. My aunt’s warranty on her Mercedes basically dictates why she only takes it to the dealer for maintenance. Last visit there they told her she needed her spark plugs changed. $1700 to do it tho.
Scotty mentioned kia and Hyundai engines. I just got a new engine for my 2016 kia sportage (kia paid for it ). The whole process took two and a half months. I’m happy with it so far. I bought a 2005 Toyota Camry for my backup vehicle.
Yeah, my Buddy's engine blew on his Elantra & it took him 2 months to get his engine replaced. It's nice to see Hyundai honoring their warranty even @ 70Kmiles, but what are you supposed to drive until then?
Just bought a 24 SL Rogue FWD for my wife. She loves the car. It’s fun to drive. I rented a 24 SV Rogue AWD, had 15K miles on it, ran like a champ. Drove it from Florida to Atlanta GA and rocked 35mpg.
If the warranty is backed by the dealer- its only as good if the dealer is still in business when the time comes. Also it up to them to determine if the issue at hand is a defect or owner neglect .
Should be I have a 2015 nissan pathfinder with 245,000 miles 0 issues I also have a 2019 Altima with 145,000 miles also 0 issues and a 2008 nissan rouge 310,000 miles with 0 issues so I’m pretty sure the frontier will be just as reliable just make sure to always do your maintenance on time that is what I have always done and all my Nissans run perfectly that why I don’t understand why they talk down on them so much
I have been watching your videos for years and this is the very first time i can recall that you haven't totally trashed a Nissan vehicle. There is hope for you yet :) . Happy 2014 Nissan Altima owner- 260,000 KMs
I bought a 3 cylinder engine many years ago. I've taken good care of it and it still runs like a champ. Of course it was made by Evinrude. The thought someone actually took out their checkbook for a three cylinder Nissan with that CVT blows my mind. In the words of PT Barnum...
Nissan make rather fantastic engines, their biggest problem is the transmision. Apparently their new design fixed the problem the old ones had, but only time will tell.
@@jasonschlesinger5343 trust me it most definitely was not lmao. I see SO MANY around and know several people who are buying the ones WITH the bad CVTs. Look at chevy, they still sell like hot cakes. I mean hell even Kia/Hyundai are still in business. The simple truth is most people don't research their cars before buying them and most nissans look pretty, so they'll sell
Those lifetime warranties from dealers are a scam. Usually, they make you sign your service away to them. If they say something needs to be serviced, at any point, you have to do it and pay for the wearable items, or it voids the warranty (i.e. cabin air filter,... you need new tires because they seem low to US). Over the lifetime you pay for way more than you need. They are basically service contracts with the dealer and if you slip 1 time it voids the warranty. It a trap you can't get out of. It was all over the news here in Georgia a few years ago. It could be different from what I've seen, but I doubt it
I'm driving one- so far best Nissan Rogue they built. i had 2017 and i traded for 2022, better fuel + very quite cabin. little less rear head room compared to last gen but more power for sure.. love it
Got one of these same trim level on a lease so I don't have to worry about durability. Honestly I really like it, super comfortable, lots of creature comfort's and engine is really peppy.
Do you hear a "whirring" sound when you drive over 40 mph? I hear mine doing that upon deceleration too, until about 35 mph, then I don't hear it. I've been told by the dealership that it's the turbo. Kinda annoying. I override it with the radio.
If Nissan were to dump CVTs for geared transmissions, they'd be up in quality closer to Toyota and Honda. Their motors are actually decent. Because of their trannies, they're down in the basement with Chrysler and the Germans.
I have an infinite qx50 with the 4 cylinder vc turbo. 18k miles so far. Great engine. The mating to the cvt causes a slight gear search when nailing it every once in a blue moon.
This is called the Nissan X-Trail for the rest of the world. Really popular car, one of their best selling compact SUV's to date. Still running the old first gen X-Trail, the T30 with the QR25DE NA engine. Awesome car since it's a car born before the Nissan CVT fiasco, it has a conventional AT transmission.
Tbh Scotty I thought I would never see a Rogue in your driveway, but the new turbo engine is so much better than the 2.5 was. Even with the cvt. I had a 2015 and 2018 with no problems. With that power train warranty it’ll be fine!
The rogue is absolutely fire Much better looking, smoother ride, more comfortable, and more pep than the Rav 4, Sportage, CRV and Mazda CX7. Not even close.
well I have a 22 pathfinder, it is the third pathfinder that I have and they have never given me problems, there is no bad vehicle. you just have to maintain it well like any other vehicle.
When I bought my Hyundai Genesis years ago they gave you free oil changes for life. The problem is you had to agree to buy all of your tires from them. Total joke
Always been a nissan guy since 90. Started with an 88 maxima and keot going through the years with different ones. I miss the 90s nissans, hands down tje best so far. Howerver, i was given a nissan altima vc tirbo by the insurance company because i was just in a wreck and whoa. It runs geeat....so far. I might look into the rogue for me. We have an Armada and a pathfinder with zero issues. The trick is not to dog them out and change the oils religiously.
Nissan's built in Japan are by far the most reliable cars on the road... And unlike Honda and Toyota, Nissan has always stuck to the timing chains instead of timing belts. This car has been out in Europe for almost 2 years now, it's called the Nissan X-trail. They have had very good reviews from them so far. They seem to be selling well over there and I'm certain they I'll do well here as well. Scotty I'm surprised you don't know this being a Toyota fanatic but this technology was first used by Toyota in the Toyota Yaris GR with it's 1.6L 3 cylinder turbo, generating 261 HP. And it's AWD system puts the power to the ground real well! 0 to 60mp/h in 5 seconds.
I bought a 2015 Rogue SL new in 2015. The thing is very reliable only thing done was routine maintenance (replaced tires, oil changes, fluids and tire sensor Oct 2021), when got it serviced back in July saw on paper next service will need rotors/brakes overall CVT works great still, car runs like new and comfortable. I really love it got extended warranty. It's paid-off (Scotty be surprised see my 7 year old Rogue), like new inside and out. Love everything the 2.5 liter four cylinder is powerful at over 30,404 miles still doing well on CVT tranny which nervous how long last do get it serviced at 30,000 miles usually let Nissan Service Department services it they do take good care of it put plastic on my seats everything + give me lots of paperwork on stuff was done. When I drive my baby makes me happy 😊 one thing a blast that BOSE stereo ... man! That thing kicks was listening to a song early this morning on SXM radio 📻 should heard the bass 🔊 like had added sound system in the trunk it even smells new. I love Nissan appreciate them making me a good car so far has smooth ride as handles well planning keep her until she rotten out looking like Fred Flintstones car. The company doing so much better makes me happy 😊 Scotty now appraising Nissan they are comeback getting popular again interesting in a 2023 Pathfinder and love refreshed 2023 Altima they are amazing with the lineups.
These vc engines are incredible. Always try to find a J, or 4 vin. 1 is us made, 3 is mexico made. Most 3 vin vehicles end up with electrical nightmares. 1 vins are a toss up.
I'd really like to read the fine print on that "lifetime transmission warranty". I can just about guarantee there's a lot of exceptions where the warranty will be void or the dealer will say "oh, that's normal". Replacing a transmission is no small job, so either Nissan is very confident this transmission won't have any problems (which I doubt, given how the previous versions have held up), or they have made sure there are so many exceptions they won't have to change practically any transmissions for free. Mind you this is a car company that's been on the verge of bankruptcy for years.
hey, it's not Nissan providing the lifetime powertrain warranty, it is the Nissan dealership. Very few dealerships will offer it, they are definitly hoping that the engine does well for Nissan.
I have the life time warranty on mine and I think the only stipulation is I take my car to get serviced at Nissan at least once a year, right now I have a 5 year service & rotation plan on it anyways so I’ll go there anyways
Hi Scotty I got a used xc60 Volvo. two and half years old, six thousand miles, and a free one hundred thousand mile warranty very happy, give one a look.
I watched a video somewhere stating that the 4 cylinders version of the new VC engine passed the test to the equivalent of either a million or 5 million kilometres I don't remember. If the 3 cylinders did the same, then perhaps it's more reliable than people think.
Nissan has been working on VC for the past 25 years. They were even working on it in the days before Renault took over. This 1.5L turbo 3 though for what it is, it’s overall impressive. 201 hp/225 lb Ft is nothing to sneeze at. GM’s 1.3L turbo 3 by comparison, only makes 155 hp/176 lb Ft. Ford’s 1:5L turbo 3 at 180 lb/203 lb Ft and Ford’s is nowhere as smooth or vibration free. Just wish Nissan went dual injection with it. The fat it only needs regular fuel is a plus too. Hopefully the redesigned JATCO CVT-X (as it’s called) will hold up but seeing it was designed for this engine, it should, proper maintenance is the key still too.
@@vergiljerome9126 yes but a 2.0L turbo 4 cylinder, although it debuted in the 2018 Altima first. Also, the Altima version runs regular fuel (236 hp) and the Infiniti version premium fuel (268 hp), both make 280 lb ft. The Rogue introduced the 1.5L turbo 3 version, 201 hp/225 lb ft on regular fuel.
Hi mister Scotty my name is Bobby here in Baltimore I just got a 2023 Nissan Rogue it had eight miles on it when I got it I will update you time from time if I have any issues with it thanks for the channel I enjoy it
With a warranty that generous on the surface, I'd be *very* concerned about the fine print and how strictly they enforce things like the typical warranty requirement that you don't outright abuse the product.
not a problem - there were plenty of people who WEREN'T as concerned and went ahead with their purchase. when you build reliable products- its like shooting fish in a barrel...
Scottie You made my ear with your fine. Honest praise of my new Nissan Rogue SV which I really love and to have you give it. You're AOK meant a lot. I think Nissan. Genuinely Customizes, they're fine product. To top quality. After 41 years with my own company, I bought me a rogue. And a double extended factory warranty for $1200. And now I don't have to tell customers when I see their nissans in the driveway. Nobody ever complained about their Nissan and they Always agree, they love their nissanow because you Scotty. I could not be more selfish. Or thank you, my friend. Tom universal overhead door company.
I have a 2009 Nissan Murano SL and love it.. Still drives like new. Had it for 3 years now and only had oil changes and tires done on it. My Murano has almost 180000 miles on it and plan on driving it for a long time to come..
I have a 2018 Rouge and we’ve had it since new now only 50,000 miles I love this thing top of the line, full sunroof, all Black leather , sport mode is fun and you do notice a difference from eco setting
We bought a new 2021 Rogue SV last year. Same exact new body style as this one, but I guess the turbo charged 3 cylinder engine wasn’t ready yet, so they stuck with the 4 cylinder engine for just that one model year. Interesting decision, but I’m glad they did. 33,000 miles on it so far, and it purrs like a kitten. CVT feels as good as any decent automatic I’ve driven (edited to remove ‘shifts,’ as one reply correctly pointed out), so no complaints there. Gas mileage is still good…not quite what the 3-cylinder can do, but we get anywhere from 32-34 mpg on the highway. For the piece of mind knowing we have an engine that’s actually serviceable, I’ll take that over the new tech any day. We also opted for the extended warranty *just in case* something goes wrong with that new CVT, but so far, no issues. I can’t say much for 2022 and up with the fancy turbo charger, but if you’re looking to buy used, I HIGHLY recommend the 2021 model year. Very good vehicle!
i have a 2012 sentra 2.0 CVT with just under 100K and it runs just fine. i service it every 30K with nissan-approved fluid. the main cause of CVT failures is the faulty 'nut' behind the steering wheel....
We just leased a Champaign Colored Rogue Platinum and I am disappointed that our car did not come with a Tonneau Cover or The Homelink System, otherwise I love the car so far. This is our 3rd Rogue. We had 3 Muranos, 1 SE, 1 SL, and 1 SL Platinum. We had 3 Zcars, a 1980, a 1985 Turbo, and 1990. We also had one Altima. Our children have had a host of Nissans. What I see happening is Nissan is doing what the American Automobile Manufacturers are doing, allowing the dealers to squeeze you for a little extra to get everything you want in the car!
My only experience with a 3 cyl was a Chevy Sprint. It was great on MPG and zipped around town fine. But when you got to any kind of grade/hill, that is when you felt the lack of power. Oh, and the motor gave up the ghost at around 135K.
I grew up on cars with 4, 3...and 2 cylinders (ex. Fiat 600/650). In Europe, 3 cylinder engines are more common than here, so nobody is scared of them. I had one with 3 cyl. as a rental in Europe 3 years ago and it felt OK even though it was producing just around 100 hp.
When this thing came out, I was sure this was what we needed! The new Rogue aka X-Trail and Outlander are just stunning vehicles! Good video as always!!
@@mrgurulittle7000 we'll applaud 👏 Nissan if this achieves this mark [300k+ mi, 15yrs - 'whichever comes first']. Because they do need this win - they've been the butt-end joke for JTech for far too long. They need to step-up! If they do, the consumer as always benefits.
@@mrgurulittle7000 It needn't be the engine alone, but the whole shebang! The bodywork, the wielding, the paintwork, rust resistance, interior quality, plastic durability, et cetera, et cetera!
Lots of high tech features... lots of high tech that can fail too. Turbocharged 3 cylinder engine... plenty of power when you mash the go pedal, but when going up a mountain, that turbo is likely going to be providing a lot of power for a prolonged time. Turbos generate a lot of heat, how is that extra heat going to effect the oil, coolant, all that high tech stuff inside the engine, and the transmission?
because there are differences in nissan-produced vehicles destined for high-altitude markets. those differences are always referenced in the parts and service literatures. the same thing can be said for high-altitude engines in general- they have to deal with lower-density intake air just like people do. high-altitude vehicles are available outside their normal markets thru special ordering and vice-versa.
Yeah but Scotty, they say it's a lifetime warranty on the powertrain, but is it a lifetime limited.... Warranty? Meaning they'll only cover certain parts of the transmission and powertrain?
Try to get your hands on a 2022 or 2023 Pathfinder with the new trany, tell us what you think.. They seem to be getting good reviews.. keep on keeping on SK
Mike, we got a 2022 Pathfinder Platinum 2wd. It currently has about 13k miles. We have been very happy with it. Tranny shifts well and engine is quieter compared to other VQ35 s(murano, Maxima, G35). I work on cars myself everything seems to be easily accessed except water pump :)
Unlimited is never unlimited. It's what the dealer thinks the lifetime of the vehicle should be. Could blow up at 50k and the dealer can say that's what it should be.
BE CAREFUL ABOUT THOSE DEALER WARRANTIES. I'LL BET HE HAS TO HAVE THE DEALER PERFORM ALL THE SERVICE AND HE MUST FOLLOW THE NISSAN RECOMMENED SERVICE SCHEDULE. THAT MEANS HE'LL BE SPENDING AN INCREDIBLE ANNOUNT OF MONEY AND TIME AT THAT DEALER. IN OTHER WORDS IT isn't a great deal.
You know they will try to blame failures on the customer.. A three-cylinder Nissan engine is a nightmare waiting to happen.. They never have perfected a 4 cylinder..
@@oi32df I was thinking a three cylinder had the propensity to vibrate like hell.. I bet when something gets off with them they will shake rattle rock and roll🤣.
Dealer warranty is only good as long as that dealer stays in business. Learnt that with "lifetime tires " with my Toyota tundra , dealership changed hands and that ended that.

I but anyways I believe Nissan’s quality is higher now how much higher I don’t know it might only be slightly but I do believe the quality is better now than it was then I was even better in the 90s than it is now.
Are there not any cars of USA original companies which are affordable and reliable? (GM & Ford)

Exactly. No such thing as a free lunch.

Never buy a 3 cylinder engine. And that VC is uneccessary it is nissan’s way to use us as a Guinea pig!!
There will be so many exceptions, loop holes and provisions written into that warranty, there is no way he will collect on it.
And assuming they can readily get the parts and/or engines. Trust has been lost between mfrs and buyers.
i wonder if warranty covers labor, i know some place offer UNLIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY but u pay for the labor
"Life-time warranty" sounds great on paper.
Bet it will be a pain in the arse to use when it's time.
No kidding! You better make sure you get all your recommended scheduled service at the dealer. And they’ll make sure you pay handsomely for it. Plus what if the dealer is sold or goes out of business.
💯
Life time warranty means it's under warranty until it dies. Which is when you would need the warranty 🤣
Actually most people don't keep their car more than 3-5 years anyway, they're betting it's long gone before their so-called "lifetime" warranty is needed (which BTW they'll try to dispute anyway over some minor technically)

I just bought this engine in the new 2023 AWD Nissan Rogue two weeks ago. I drive about 9000K year. I plan to drive it for 10 years. Wish me luck!
Hows it holding up so far?

@@tim8532 No problems so far. I've been able to squeeze out 31-33 MPG on highways here in Chicagoland. No gas smell in the cabin which is apparently a problem other owners have been reporting. Been changing the oil every 5000 miles.

Yeah sounds like the perfect storm
How many miles did you get on each car
Do you hear a "whirring" sound when you drive over 40 mph? I hear mine doing that upon deceleration too, until about 35 mph, then I don't hear it. I've been told by the dealership that it's the turbo. Kinda annoying. I override it with the radio.
I love my Rogue too 2024💪🏼
I love mine 23. No problem so far. 26k mileage and going on.
Of note:
My wife drives it in ECO mode all the time and she is a mild mannered driver so the CVT is not being abused.
$700! What rip-offs! Good thing you turned to eBay and found one!
you are referring to the rogue. for some reason a lot of people spell it rouge- and sometimes they actually call it that. good on you for servicing your CVT every 30K and seeking out/finding an 'experienced' mirror/camera for less. do you or your wife use both feet to drive it? the CVT control unit or 'brain' can recognize that and you can actually preclude the downshifting mode at lower speeds by using the brake pedal lightly while on the throttle with your right foot. just one of several tips you can use to maximize your nissan CVT-equipped car's fuel economy. of course- being a non-aggressive driver helps a bunch in that regard, as well. enjoy!
I hope that you keep on kicking for many more years to come, Scotty. Love your channel.
My wife has an x-trail(Rogue) 2005 model she drives it like a Bastard, heavy on the brakes and accelerator! 185 000ks got with 35000ks just replaced the starter motor! The dashboard is still intact and the vehicle is a joy to drive!
"They don't make them like they used to"... that's all I can say for this scenario.
try replace it with the 1.5 turbo rogue LOL, let your wife drive it and see if it breaks after few years
All the new vehicles are absolutely beautiful and marvels of technology and great to drive with every convenience but they are over engineered and way beyond the most experienced technicians at the dealership.
"If I'm still kickin' 5 years from now..." Uncle Scotty, you cannot die, Sir, you must not! You're the BEST!
My wife has the rouge sport, she loves it, I have to admit the tech Nissan puts in their stuff is off the chain. When I test drove it it put a smile on my face. The power curve with the cvt was weird. It felt really different than I was used to. 4 years and absolutely no problems. We let them service it.

i'm thinking of buying one, hows the ride and noise of the cvt?
Keep your eyes on Nissian…. They are making a pitch to get back in the car game! They already have great technology for example G-TR and the new resigned Frontier Truck V6 no turbo.. The 2022 Sentra is also a great mileage car 29 to 39 miles per gallon and the CVT has not been in issue for years now. I’m a Toyota guy but, very impressed with the details of the vehicles example lines of the cars are straight & great paint. My 2022 Tacoma has terrible lines and the Paint doesn’t match throughout the truck. Thanks Scotty for the Video your the best!!!
yea they think it 2015 or 16 when they were having CVT troubles.
Nissan makes some great engines like the VQ and the VK the latter being way stronger than Toyota’s UR series. Nissan don’t have the Toyota tax and resale value means nothing to me because I drive my cars until the wheels fall off.
The warrantee will be void somehow.
Nissan Sentra has "Zero-Gravity Seats"!!!

If the warranty is backed by the dealer- its only as good if the dealer is still in business when the time comes. Also it up to them to determine if the issue at hand is a defect or owner neglect .

Nissan make rather fantastic engines, their biggest problem is the transmision. Apparently their new design fixed the problem the old ones had, but only time will tell.
Maybe they fixed the CVT now but their reputation was destroyed by their CVT's.
@@jasonschlesinger5343 trust me it most definitely was not lmao. I see SO MANY around and know several people who are buying the ones WITH the bad CVTs. Look at chevy, they still sell like hot cakes.

Didn't they use this engine for infiniti first?
@@vergiljerome9126 yes but a 2.0L turbo 4 cylinder, although it debuted in the 2018 Altima first. Also, the Altima version runs regular fuel (236 hp) and the Infiniti version premium fuel (268 hp), both make 280 lb ft. The Rogue introduced the 1.5L turbo 3 version, 201 hp/225 lb ft on regular fuel.

CVTs cannot Shift. There are NO planatary gear set. FYI.
I have a 2021 also SL with premium package. It’s a amazing vehicle and the interior rivals luxury cars I have had
You have 33k miles.....that's not a test for anything.....
@@richsweeney1115 I’m just sharing my experience, good grief… 🙄
i have a 2012 sentra 2.0 CVT with just under 100K and it runs just fine. i service it every 30K with nissan-approved fluid. the main cause of CVT failures is the faulty 'nut' behind the steering wheel....
I owned 2 Nissan Altimas and I will never buy another one again
I hope that you keep on kicking for many more years to come, Scotty.
the only nissan i like is the late 80s and early 90s truck hardbody

135k... that should be a crime
especially bad if they were a turbo model
I grew up on cars with 4, 3...and 2 cylinders (ex. Fiat 600/650). In Europe, 3 cylinder engines are more common than here, so nobody is scared of them. I had one with 3 cyl. as a rental in Europe 3 years ago and it felt OK even though it was producing just around 100 hp.
this one has 200 hp as the man says. more then enough to go up a mountain. besides are you going to enter it in a road race? then what does it matter?
@@spol1622 what 3-cylinder motor made 100hp??
When this thing came out, I was sure this was what we needed! The new Rogue aka X-Trail and Outlander are just stunning vehicles! Good video as always!!
Stunning yes, but are they 300,000-mile 15+ year reliable? time will tell
@onenikkione. Yes, time will tell. It looks very promising!
@Ev-Ez Ayé. Yes!! But I couldn't help giving Nissan a thumbs up for trying really hard to make a good car! Lol!
I recommend the Mitsubishi Outlander, same platform, better vehicle with nicer interior, Mitsu S-AWC, 10y100k powertrain, 5/60 basic, same prices.
Lifetime warranty is awesome until things break and they say it's not covered due to operator error.
Imagine if with all this tech they’re putting in new cars they could monitor the operators driving habits for warranty related issues…lol
@@NotLikeUs17 I agree!! 'Sir your driving habits are outside of the specs for the battery, too bad,so sad no free replacement for you' lol
I'll keep my tried and true Toyota 3.5 V6, thank you
I hope we have you as long as it's still fun for you to make this content 🙂
Yeah but Scotty, they say it's a lifetime warranty on the powertrain, but is it a lifetime limited.... Warranty? Meaning they'll only cover certain parts of the transmission and powertrain?
Try to get your hands on a 2022 or 2023 Pathfinder with the new trany, tell us what you think.. They seem to be getting good reviews.. keep on keeping on SK
Nah
They're brand new.... Their reviews don't mean anything about long term reliability...
Ours has 30,000. One glitch with the computer that put it in safe mode. Other than that, no issues. No squeaks and rattles.
Unlimited is never unlimited. It's what the dealer thinks the lifetime of the vehicle should be. Could blow up at 50k and the dealer can say that's what it should be.
I am watching your channel because of good sleep and excellent knowledge of car worlds. thank you
BE CAREFUL ABOUT THOSE DEALER WARRANTIES.
Run away like your life depends on it. More complexity makes me appreciate the model T.
im new to cars.. but you have to let tesla do everytjing on a tesla right? like nearly illegal to work on your own car
