Moana - Ka Loa Nō (Sound Redesign/Soundscape)

Auli'i Cravalho recorded "Ka Loa Nō" for the Hawaiian language dub of the film in 2018. This video was a challenge because I didn't have the isolated vocals readily available and had to filter them myself, but I'm happy with how it turned out. This might be the only soundscape I make that isn't in the film's original language, but I got inspired when I realized how closely some of the vowels in the chorus match up with the animation. Enjoy!

I feel like it’s never clearly stated or implied in the movie that they are Hawaiian. They are Hawaiian aka Native American.

I don't think they were written to be strictly Hawaiian-based. Rather that the writers pulled from many Polynesian cultures. I'm sure that there are influences of native Hawaiian culture (it's been awhile since I've seen the movie so I can't be fully sure), but it is not the end all be all of the cultural influence on the story and it's characters. Not here to argue you Lazuli, just expanding.

@@lazulijadeless3771 Motunui was based off the landscape of Tetiaroa, which is apart of the Society Islands in the French Polynesia. And the island of Te Fiti was based off Tahiti, also in the French Polynesia.
