Many have already said it, but it merits a lot more mentions: You were an amazing host, Lily! I hope this isn't the last we see of you here, but whatever the case, best wishes on your future endeavours.
Lily Gladstone was the best crash course presenter so far (its a close call if we consider John Green, Hank Green and Nicole Sweeney), so there is a lot to learn in how she presents the content (at least for future presenters). The joy she shows while explaining betrays an enthusiasm for what she is teaching. She made the content the focus of the episodes, not her jokes. She was paced, calm, but never boring nor slow. Congratulations!
This series has been feeding my passion for film making since the beginning. Now I'm organising an internship with the editor of star wars and networking with Spike Lee's crew members. I really feel like crash course film production has taken me through a crucial part of my career and I couldn't ask for a better series. Thank you crash course.
It's been a pleasure having you as host for this series, it's sad to see you go. But at the same time, it's so exciting to see Michael Aranda get some screen time, and see how he delivers the explanations and content. Plus, thinking critically about films is something I've been trying to do more often! The story, the themes, the pacing, character arcs, but also things like camera angles or sound design and how they can help convey emotion or information to the audience.
Exactly what Princess Bubblegum did nothing wrong said: the situations are conceptualized, and are expressed to the 'talent', but they're normally not told the whole story, so they can try to get that "raw" quality. It's mainly stuff like: "Hey, you need to start some beef with Tiffany today." type stuff.
WanderingRandomer They aren't scripted. That means there isn't a team of writers writing a script. That doesn't mean the "producers" aren't "guiding" the show in certain directions and editing it to tell a story.
Wow Lily best crash course host EVER! Im hooked by her shows and trying to get even more...great pace and mood Lily ...British girl was ok too but too fast ...Keep it up like Lily and Lily please stay
Twin Peaks is definitely television. Thanks Lily, great job. Good luck in everything you do next. P.S. Looking forward to the blooper reel for this series.
When the creepy caffeine guy left Film History I wrote this series off. I'm sorry I did. In the last 2 months everything has been super interesting and insightful. i went back and watched the ones I skipped over. I was a moron. This is great! Please don't yell at me. :(
Ahh! This is cool, but as someone who works in TV, I want to say "Yes and" to every point that's being made. It's a good overview, but there's so much more.
So I guess you could say that in the UK, BBC is a premium cable network that you have to pay for if you want television at all, even if you don't want any BBC channels (I can't see why)
I really loved this series, especially as a film professional (I'm in CG/VFX) who sometimes needs to get reinvigorated with the artform! I just wish you guys would've done an episode on animation and anim production, especially since Crash Course relies so heavily on animation for all your series. The VFX episode is close, and there wasn't an Animation History episode either.
I'm older and every time I hear "show runner" I think "general go-fer", as in "Have the show runner pick up ice cream for the actors." I've been a runner for charity events and school performances.
I am aware of this. It was in the video. I was relating my personal experience and denoting a change in the language over time - A title that 20 years ago would have been a minor position is now a top position.
Hi! I'm a new subscriber, and I love the content that Crash Course puts out, but it's a bit exhausting for a viewer when you edit out every instance that the narrator breathes in. I love the volume of information in these videos, but could you ease up on its density by extending the length by a minute?
I always felt bad that DVRing shows would mean they have lower ratings. It's great to hear that they still count that. Nielsen ratings are garbage though.
So this is why TV shows we really like keep getting canceled! It's because they air at odd times on odd days when most people can't fit it into their schedule to watch them!
hey crashcourse, please tell lily she was great and we will miss her
LILYYYY!!
blacktallsmart19 Agreed! Fantastic host!

I am so proud of how far lily has gone in her career, been watching her videos of crash course since 2017 . Go LILY !!!!!

Completely agree, the first part of the series would have been greatly improved if she had been the presenter rather than Wheezy.
Don't forget Phil Plait!
You take me that.. phil, i think is the best...
What happened to Lily? Why she’s no longer hosting the show..?
We'll miss you Lily, you were such a great host!!

I loved the shonda-esque animation!
Reality TV unscripted?
...
If you say so...
Yeah, I choked a little on that one, too.
The scenarios are probably scripted, or atleast conceptualized. But I doubt much of the dialogue is scripted.

It probably is to an extent unscripted but the producers can construct stories when editing so that it in a sense seems scripted
Donate to your local PBS everyone!

Wow Lily best crash course host EVER! Im hooked by her shows and trying to get even more...great pace and mood Lily ...British girl was ok too but too fast ...Keep it up like Lily and Lily please stay
"We'd be here all day..."
OK and???
And the very concept of the phrase "crash course" is to not spend all day.
Final episode?! Noooo. Greatly enjoyed this series. Looked forward to each episode.
I really like the format for this crash course, with different hosts and talking about different topics in the same subject!
Nooooooo! I will miss you Lily. You've done a womderful job. Hopefully they will have you back for another segment.
My favorite series on CrashCourse!
Lily, you are the best! :)
Twin Peaks is definitely television.
Thanks Lily, great job. Good luck in everything you do next.
P.S. Looking forward to the blooper reel for this series.
You've been an awesome presenter Lily. Thank you for the run.
Going to miss Lily, but very excited for Film Criticism!
NO! Not you too...😭 LILY. WHY?!
When the creepy caffeine guy left Film History I wrote this series off. I'm sorry I did. In the last 2 months everything has been super interesting and insightful. i went back and watched the ones I skipped over. I was a moron. This is great! Please don't yell at me. :(
Everything was fantastic! Thank you Lily!
Thanks Lily! You are a great lecturer! Hope to see you more here in Crashcourse! Love love! ❤️
5:54 little reminder for me
Ahh! This is cool, but as someone who works in TV, I want to say "Yes and" to every point that's being made. It's a good overview, but there's so much more.
aww I'll miss Lily but I'm so excited for Micheal Aranda to host!
Thanks soo much Lily, you have been a star.
So I guess you could say that in the UK, BBC is a premium cable network that you have to pay for if you want television at all, even if you don't want any BBC channels (I can't see why)
Thanks for all the learning, Lily.
it was great meeting you Lily! you did a great job! hope to see you somewhere else on youtube!

Thanks Lily for the excellent and interesting course. Best of luck in the future!

Lily was an amazing host!
Does America have free to air T.V.? Is that what 'broadcast' meant?
Lily you were fabulous.
YAY! Michael Aranda rocks!
From Scratch Aunty Bindy
Yes. Some stations can still be received with an antenna, but most require a digital converter.
Yes I'm her for you.....glad to see you....
"only downside is we can't see it all"
so true, especially if you add my anime list on
Bye Lily. Maybe you will become the female equivalent to Morgan Freeman in Hollywood for your awesome narration voice and skills now!
Yay for Quantum Leap shout out!
This was a great sub-series! I'll miss Lily!
Excited for Michael Aranda, though!
Liky you were outstanding thank you

Such an informative and well presented crash course on Film Production. Amazing work Lily, and thank you Crash Course ❤️❤️🙏
That thumbnail hits a little different now…
I love Lily, but YAY MICHAELS GONNA HOST A CRASH COURSE
I wish you'd done an episode on animation and cartoons too. I was hoping you all could go into detail on that type of thing
Hey Crashcourse, we should have a web literacy course since this whole net neutrality issue is going on and we should be more knowledgeable about it
shes soooooooo great !!!!!
"they are the exeption..."
shows a mongol XD well played
I'm older and every time I hear "show runner" I think "general go-fer", as in "Have the show runner pick up ice cream for the actors." I've been a runner for charity events and school performances.
DetailBearOn
A show runner is someone who runs the show, not errands.
I am aware of this. It was in the video. I was relating my personal experience and denoting a change in the language over time - A title that 20 years ago would have been a minor position is now a top position.
That thumbnail though...
WTF?!
nmp
Thank you
I still Film is Superior to TV but Tv is great in its own way
Amazing as always Lily!
Well, this was an awesome series!
Great job!
Waiting for geography and paleontology...
Great series, I thoroughly enjoyed all the videos in this! I'll be starting at Colorado Film School next fall but I'm already getting hyped now!
We will miss you...
Great job crash course thanks a lot
I love you lily ❤️
I don't get why they have to have more than one director . Why can't the showrunner be directing everything ?
oh, theyre acting! thats why no1 dies irl.

Seems to me that Movies are to TV, what Plays where to Movies
Adrian Duran that’s only if you consider streaming services in the the same category as TV like they did in the video(I do not)
Thanks.
No more Lily? I'm heartbroken!
One tip: show don’t tell
So this is why TV shows we really like keep getting canceled! It's because they air at odd times on odd days when most people can't fit it into their schedule to watch them!
Cool video!
anyone else remember when The Disney Channel was premium cable?
It's official. Potter, Bond, and Vin Deisel are part of the surviving mongals.
Michael is coming. :D
There's not enough time to see it all
Shooting a pilot to pitch to Adult Swim with a Polaroid Cube Act II.
Her hair is so laid in this episode
