Biryani did not have Aloo from the begining,whether of Lucknow Hyderabad or Bengal. When Nawab Wajid Ali shah was exiled from Awadh to Bengal, he did not have enough funds but used to give parties with same fervour. So his chef used to add aloo in that Biryani. Therefore we see aloo in bengali version of Biryani but not in Hyderabadi or Lucknow biryani. Perhaps, the same thing happend in Karachi because it is full of migrants,who carried this aloo culture with them.
