This is such an old toy, but perhaps one of the greatest and most enduring ones that electronic history has to offer, it's going to be in a museum someday.

@@MrTylerNicole1 The Social Media Wars of the Turn of the Century, perhaps? It sure is much nicer fighting here than actual bloodshed, wonder if our awe inspiring Tech Gods realize that? You would think they would have thought of it because it begs the question. Censorship and Utopia Seekers will be the death of everything.
Watching a vid about the color charges of quarks reminded me of this game which I had multiple versions of as a kid from the big one here to small ones. Very nostalgic.
I have that. In 2019, I converted mine to LED.
Wow! Is it difficult to do? I just found one and want to do this. Does it help with battery life?

LITTLE ikr. Still play it quite a bit. I can even beat skill level 4 which goes up to 31 signals, the highest score possible.

I used to play a Simon game when I was little but it was kinda hard because I'm blind I'd always get the things confused. You did a good job of describing it because I can't see and I depend on the discritpions I also subscribed to you
Thanks for your feedback. I’m visually impaired myself and need descriptions as well. Anytime. Thanks for subbing. If you’re interested, I also conduct monthly fire alarm tests at my house. I did one for April but didn’t get time to record the May one. Usually I do this on the first Saturday or Sunday each month so my next test would be around June 5 or 6. I also record emergency alert warnings and tests as well if you’re interested. Thx for subbing.
@@MrTylerNicole1 that sounds awesome now that I look back it seems silly for totally blind guy to be playing a Simon game I’m better at bop it. There’s a video that I made on my channel they had asked me to make a speech at my church so I did and it was about how I wouldn’t change being blind because it’s what I am used to and I think God every day that I was born the way I was and when people asked me if I’d like to change I definitely would not like to change the way God made me he made me the way he did for a reason

That's actually a 1986 reissue. You can tell because the beeps are consistent, but on the original 1978 release the beeps are made by a buzzer and are inconsistent
Yeah. I thought that was interesting too. I didn’t know until I watched another video of someone comparing the two models. Since both models are marked with 1978 on the labeling I think it’s impossible to physically tell them apart though. I had the first, original one way back, but I’m starting to enjoy the rerelease too since it speeds up faster too.

5:32 Why the yellow color is turned on?
If you leave the on/off switch on but don’t turn it off within a few minutes, the game will flash and beep every few minutes to remind you to turn it off. It’s helpful if you forget to turn it off and not waste the battery. It’s actually kind of amazing they had this feature in the 1986 second edition original Simon. The first edition was released back in 1978, so I don’t know if that alert feature was there.

Qonah Mobarak Thanks for reaching out. Every Wednesday, the National Weather Service conducta a Required Weekly Test of the Emergency Alert System and NOAA Weather Radio. I try to record these tests every week whenever the opportunity presents itself. However, I may not be able to record every week because I have other duties to take care of. Yes, they should still have them on eBay. As long as it’s the original 1978 model you should be good to go. :)
Why would it require 2 types of batteries at once? 2 D batteries and 1 9V battery? It must take alot of power. I've never in my life see any electronic toys that would require two types of batteries a unit!
The microcontroller needed its own power and the bulbs use the D cell.
Chris Bailey Yeah. You have to remember that this game was made in 1978. At that time, the modern batteries, like AA and AAA batteries, were not used that often. Back then, the D batteries were used to control the physical mechanisms of a piece of electronic equipment. 9 volts, even today, are used to power the brain or main unit’s “brain”. For example, many older smoke detectors still use 9 volt batteries. But as you may or may not, those are being decommissioned and being replaced with alarms powered by 10 year lithium powered batteries, so people don’t forget to change their smoke alarm batteries or maintain their alarms. It seems like an outdated concept now, but things were very different back in 1978. Modern technologies have only been around since the beginning of the 21st century. And the tech industry keeps growing with new inventions and ideas. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Bad video, too much movement
I apologize. With my vision impairment, it’s kinda hard to keep my iPad camera still, especially when showing the different features of the game. I’ll admit it wasn’t as steady as it could have been but sometimes it doesn’t always work out.
