Thanks Lady Mary Beth - you take us on such great adventures. It's always fun to shop with you - I appreciate your kindness, knowledge, and willingness to share with us. Please keep the trips and tips coming !
I love the history you give on places, stores, & various items you see. Lots of great ideas come my way from you as well; I have been collecting shells & sand from neither everywhere I have visited around the world. So I should get busy doing some arts & crafts with some small boxes I have accumulated & make some unusual gifts for family & friends for the holidays & birthdays. I enjoy all the items you highlight & discuss; I learn so much. But I have been trying to follow the rule: if something comes into my home (now a 1 bedroom apt which suits me wonderfully & I so enjoy), something must depart:either sell or give away. Also our minister has been having us think more of our collecting treasures for our heavenly home, so I have been wanting to limit my spending to presents for folks & not for myself. You are a delight; thank you for sharing so beautifully.
What a great shop. There were so many things I would like to have in my house. Lately I’ve been loving green and the vase and enamel box were perfect. It fun to shop vicariously withyou!
The green Celadon vase was a find. I have a larger one, otherwise would have considered. Still trying to figure out the enamel box. Wonder if it had a special purpose.
Seeing the lovely variety of items in this shop makes me wish we were still in Sugar Land, so I could visit there in person. Thank you, Mary Beth, for the information you provide and for suggesting ways (other than the obvious) to use the various pieces you see in each section of the shop, so please continue to do this. Your videos are such an enjoyable way to learn about antiques and how to make use of them in our home.
FUN...seeing an antique store in Houston...I grew up with antiques...my grandmother owned an antique store on Westheimer called "Sybil's Treasures" in the 40s.
Did she name the shop after you? Wish I could have shopped there, but before my time. I dream of stepping back in time to the wonderful gift shops of years past.
@@LadyMaryBeth Hi, no she named the shop.after her first name and then I was named for her. My family founded Imperial Sugar Co in Sugarland and built the company town that was there...all housing now. Eldridge Parkway was named for them. Most of the things my grandmother sold in the shop were items her friends and she wanted to dispose of. She also invested in a "perfume bar" in the Galvez Hotel.
What a fantastic video and such a beautiful antique shop..being a blue and white lover I am absolutely ecstatic…I have seen the video twice.. well done ..🙏👍❤️
Usually thrift stores are more in my price range, but this store had lots of items I would purchase! Thank you for showing us that beautiful items are available at affordable prices! Wonderful video! It was a real treat to meet the owner and a booth owner ❤️
I went back for more yesterday. Filming and shopping are hard to juggle. So many deals here that bring joy! I bought the large framed Chinoiserie fabric. Thanks for watching!
Hope you can pop in sometime. It really is an awesome shop. Will share their next holiday event. Went to the sidewalk sale yesterday and they really know how to host a party! Tiff’s Treats, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Antone’s sandwiches, and beverages for shoppers. ❤️
Ahhhh!! That table!! My dad made one that sat in our kitchen for years. My mom sold it after he passed. That clip brought tears to my eyes. So many beautiful antiques!!!!
Glad you like them! The panatiere is such a neat piece. I went back two days later with my friend, who happens to be from France, and she knew exactly what it was.

I am also learning from viewers. They shared that the infant servers (teapot looking without lid) are actually invalid servers for feeding the sick. Such insight!

The stained glass near the end & the art deco canisters near the end were great. This video was such a delight. I actually have stained glass hanging in all my windows & a large rectangular one handing over the bar/shelf that separates my kitchen & dining room. The maintenance man matched the wood he used to anchor the stained glass to the ceiling with the wood of the trim so it looks as though it always was there.
Oh, I can almost see it as you describe your stained glass. Clever to use as a visual separator. I have a large stained glass piece in my second story window. Got it years ago at Antique Gallery in Spring.

Some find it strange but, for a different spin, every couple of years I love using blue and orange for Christmas for an "Orange You Glad It's Christmas" theme incorporating my chinoiserie with orange decor and ornaments. It's taken a few years to find and collect enough orange items suitable for Christmas decorating. Always enjoy your videos.
Just going through your past videos trying to find ones that I have not seen. I love it when you antique, I learn so much; but today I might be able to give you some information. The cups with the spouts, if I am not mistaken were designed for helping to feed and hydrate sick people. My mother was born in 1910 some of her siblings were born before the turn of the century. She told me dehydration was a very serious problem in the early days so they used spouted cups to help get liquids and broth down patients who could barely eat or drink.

Hello Lady Mary Beth I really enjoyed this video and I really enjoy going to antique shops there is always amazing items in them thank for showing us all of the wonderful items God Bless you Josephine:)
You have mentioned the barley twist furniture several times today & it brought to my mind a piece of dark oak ?English side board I had when I lived in Philadelphia; the legs looked just like what you point out. I think I gave that piece to some friends that needed furniture.
As always, so many fantastic pieces! If I were to collect everything I love, I'd probably need 2-3 different med sized houses. lol One would definitely be decorated in blue/white chinoiserie! I also love a beautiful classic black/white house w pops of color. It's so hard sometimes trying to fit everything u love in one house. Well, for me anyway! lol Thxs for taking us along
Those Currier and Ives dishes were sold at Kroger's in the nineteen-fifties. I had one of those fenton white with clear basket, which came from a Grandmother and I gave it to a niece. That takes care of that, enjoy seeing all the things. I still have my pink Smith Corona that went through school and college with me. I was offered an entire service of Royal Doulton Blue Willow at a discounted price by a relative in the antique business, passed on it, still regret. That Japanese piece with the gold trim looked very similar.
Good insight about the grocery store offering dishes. My grandma got her china that way, too. Very accessible and affordable! Neat that you had a pink Smith Corona! Typing was the most useful class I took in high school. Grateful for this skill.
The feeders are invalid cups for the sick. How nice to see a "real" antique store. The antique stores in my area have new things intermingled with the old. I absolutely LOVE the orange and blue. Thanks so much for the tour!!
Thanks for the info! You have helped solve the mystery. Never thought it could be for invalids. It's like a porcelain version of a bendable straw. Clever!

I always enjoy when you take us shopping with you. So many beautiful things to see. I have a question for you. You are so inventive in using different things for something that they were not intended for. Can you think of what to use a "devil egg tray" for something besides devil eggs? I have several beautiful pieces that I got from my mom and I want to use them. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
The breakfast table in my childhood home was an old New England "hutch" table with a large rectangular top, it was quite a conversation piece. Looks like a fun shop!

Thank you so much! Cheese keepers were a staple in English households. In the 19th century, before the days of plastic containers and refrigerators, they kept cheese from drying out. These covered dishes also kept the odor of the cheese from spreading through a room.
