Great interpretation of the text Jason!
Believing one is doing good is such a mind trap.
In believing and identifying with thoughts of being good and doing good, nurturers a sense of egoistic superiority and promotes ignorance.

This philosophy is like a balm to the soul for someone who grew up with Catholic dogma! Especially Robber Zhi laying it on Confucius

This brings to mind a quote from the 1967 song by the LA band Love, "You set the Scene":
"And for everyone who thinks that life is just a game, do you like the part you're playing?"

Thank you for your wonderful explanation of the Robber Zhi story. It comes with great timing for me as I recently acquired “The Way of Chuang Tzu” by Thomas Merton. With your guidance on understanding the teachings, I imagine that I’ll get more out of that book. Also, I am looking forward to reading more of your works. I just finished “Fasting the Mind”. I learned a lot from that one.
    Peace and stay well Jason!🙏🏻❤️☯️

If you give something a name you stop seeing it for what it truly is.
Labels are useful but labels limit.
    Jason thanks 🙏

You said it! "Heart and Mind!" I would only add "Consciousness," "Heart and Mind," and what we do with it matters! 😉

I'm curious if you have ever covered The Aghori Jason? My Guriji is Aghori & they are the most misunderstood "Hindu" Sect sadly. Too many take them at face value & label every Aghori the same which is beyond absurd.

He seems happy wandering with playfulness , as nature in human form where its only others may label him. With his external form and way and name being seen rather than that which is behind it so people are fooled and assuming him . He knows it is not necessary to be seen as being anything , other than what we are

  • @jasonms...1313.Conscious...

Context; Confucius, unnatural... To confuse...the "Natural health of Consciousness!" If you don't trust the self within... how can one trust anything? I believe that's the short of it. (.)

I read and tried to understand the Tao Te Ching since I was 15. For years I always thought it is like rules to follow or return to in order to become a sage. But by the time I am 29, I myself know that I cannot force my current self to be a sage or an aristocrat. In my journey I know I'm a devious individual and preferred devious path. I'm an artist who often draw erotica, and a game developer building fantasy worlds, both might trap kids into addiction. So I'd rather call myself devious, because it is my nature to choose that path, take that creative role. I'm just a "robber", at this time, you see. But I won't let myself be unchanged in the future, will I? One day if I become a "sage" it is not because of the rules I follow or because I call myself one. Instead it is because of my genuine, natural actions of letting go of devious things naturally, and my nature is just ready to do so without the intention of following some rules or titles. That is how I think one follows the Tao, but still calls himself a Robber.

Wowsers! Only half way through this video and I see a simple answer to Confucianism, where it originally sprung from. It's very much connected to the same story that's in every culture. Different names and character's...but pretty much the same story. Son's of God's ( plural ) and daughters of man in each country/ race of humanity (plural) deceived by a Son of God... ( Confusion/ Confucianism one in the same!) Son's of God's turned away from the Source and are doing their best to turn us away from the house of Truth! Simplified! Wake up my brother's and sister's!!!
