    Well done sir. Also ,one can use the hose quite precisely in the process of leak elimination instead of waiting for rain.

    Great vid, I'm doing preventive maintenance now. One bit I can't catch is when you say what I hear as "I unbolted the wing tops....". Is that correct?

      @vanlifemyway7806  4 місяці тому +1

      Hey Neil, many thanks for watching and glad you reached out.
      There is an obvious bolt at the top of the wing behind that black plastic trim in front of the mirror.... that just pops off.
      Unduing it and slightly prizing back the upper part of the wing gave me the access I needed to easily find, check and seal those seams.
      Best wishes,
      Paul

    This is a very common fault on the Citroën Relay, Peugeot boxer and fiat ducato,if not adressed,the water leaking in will "weld" your injectors to the head with rust. I had a Citroën Relay with this problem, and i have just bought a 2018 Peugeot boxer, and it too has this problem. If you have one of these three vans, check it now,or you could end up with some very expensive repairs down the line,im just going outside to seal the scuttle on mine now.

      Thank you for bringing this to light, however,
      this wasn't the usual and well reported scuttle panal problem that's usually more so specific to pre- 2014 models that have a split scuttle panal.
      This was unsealed joints between the A pillars and bulkhead as described in the vlog hence producing the vlog.

    Has this issue been fixed on newer models. Which year range is prone to have this problem?

    • @vanlifemyway7806
      @vanlifemyway7806  5 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching and thanks for reaching out to us.
      This is not the most documented problem, rather the scuttle panel leaking causing water to flood the engine and specifically corroded the injectors making them ni impossible to remove.
      The manufacturer remidied most of these problems with the face-lift from 2013-14.
      My problem doesn't seem documented which I hope is, therefore, an isolated problem. However, if I have had this problem I expect others may have too. If so it would affect the whole product range.
      Who knows, perhaps mine was a 4.45pm Friday model and Jean Pierre had overdone the Carte de Jour?
      Best wishes,
      Paul

    • @vanlifemyway7806
      @vanlifemyway7806  11 місяців тому +1

      I'm not sure it's too common Sam, it's usually the scuttle panal on older models that's reported problematic. However, if all are built like mine, I'm supprised it's not more of a problem.

      I take it you have a similar problem?
      I'd exhausted all of the common complaints so this did need a bit of extra investigation.
      I was surprised to see zero sealant on that seam and wonder was is it the 'norm' or a genuine factory mistake?
      Anyway, all's good now and no corrosion.

    • @vanlifemyway7806
      @vanlifemyway7806  8 місяців тому +2

      2013 Rob, it could be the more common split scuttle panal that you can either seal up or replace with a 2014+ one. Check also your drainage holes and make sure the pipes aren't blocked.
      Apart from that I hope the video helped.

    • @vanlifemyway7806

      On a good dry day, if it still exists, give you're fuse box a good spray with "damp start".
      I know this problem has been covered many times before which involves cleaning your drains, sealing your skuttle panal and fitting a cover/diverter over your fuse box. You appear to have caught it before it can ruin your fuse box so well worth the work.

    The scuttle panel on my 07 has shrunk significantly, between 5 and 10%, and as a consequence, the fixing clips, which have also degraded, no longer align with each other. This panel overlaps in the middle but due to the aforementioned shrinkage mine now doesn't, when securely fixed at the outer ends. Water was able to destroy the wiper motor and for a while we thought that the very expensive ecu needed replacement also. I'm planning to use Tiger seal and bodge it back into service as a cheap fix. Owners of older vans would be wise to pop the bonnet (hood) and inspect the integrity of this 'trough'

    • @vanlifemyway7806
      @vanlifemyway7806  Рік тому +1

      Hi TR. mine is luckily the 2015 facelift with most of your problems already addressed with a 1 piece panel and covers over all the prone areas.
      Saying that that "bloody" hidden seal had bugger all sealant on it.

      Hey David, I have to admit all the earlier model issues appear to have been addressed.
      I have no water heading toward the injectors, the wiper motor has a cover and the scuttle cover is 1 piece....that's why it was a process to find this problem.
      The issue turned out to be unsealed framework.
      All sorted now 👍

    • @vanlifemyway7806
      @vanlifemyway7806  Рік тому +1

      @@sinewaymusic hi, this is a 2016 face-lift model which had already had the "leaking on to engine" problem addressed by factory with the introduction of a 1 piece scuttle panel.
      This is a whole new thing all together!
      My Van leaked so much that it had to be a factory overlook as the join I found was totally exposed to the elements. However, I see many people complaining how corroded their steps are when removing the plastic trim.... this is an area where the ingression can choose to exit quite unnoticed perhaps.

    Well done Inspector Clueso, I've recently seen another utube video by a guy who had rusty injectors in his Ducato caused by water coming into the engine bay via the bottom of his windscreen, obviously a design fault in these vans if you hadn't sorted that leak it could have turned your lovely van into a rust bucket👍👍

    • @vanlifemyway7806
      @vanlifemyway7806  Рік тому

      🤣 thank you Michael, it was a problem that didn't seem to follow the usual "leak into the engine bay" problems. My van being a 2015 had improvements made to pretty much stop these problems so it did become quite a process of elimination.
      I was surprised what I found but glad it was an easy fix and no real harm was done.

    My 15 plate ducato is dripping in from the passenger side top of the windscreen. But, its dripping from between the panels where they are spot welded together. Also a drip from the same seam mid van. Ive seam sealed the whole length of the roof, painted it and also siliconed the windscreen.... still dripping! Im at me wits end 😅

      @vanlifemyway7806 I haven't tried there but as I can park it leaning to either side and the water only drips from that 1 spot in the seams, it has to be somewhere in the factory sealant bead thats allowing water into the seams and running down the front of the van. Bloody frustrating as it's holding up my camper conversion
