Your videos have helped me out so much!!! I feel like I'm in a fishing 101 class with all of these videos. A few questions for you... How long does the A-rig last (lifespan)? What kind of camera do you use underwater? Which baitcaster reel and rod setup do you recommend for someone who is just starting out and is on a budget due to just buying a kayak? ;) Thanks again!!!
A long time. I've fished one for like 6 months. You just have to be careful where you fish it since it will get snagged. If you peddle over to the opposite side of where you are stuck you might get the snag out. Go straight braid to it with a palomar knot. If it ever does get stuck you can just work on it until the hook bends out then just replace that hook. Underwater I use a GoFishCam here is my affiliate link www.gofishcam.com/roman Get a cheap walmart combo with the specs I give here.. www.romancastro.com/resources/ Thanks for the questions and the positive feedback!
Could you list a "priority order" for these set ups, Roman? I.e., if we only have $ for 1 or 2 rods, which should we be going for first? Thanks for this video (and all the others!)
This is a great question. I'll do another video but here is my answer. If you can only get 1 setup id do the 2500 size spinning reel with 6.5 to 7.5 Med Fast/xFast rod rated for 1/4oz to 1 1/2oz lures and line weight of 8 to 12 lbs. I have full specs on the first bay fishing setup here... The specs are the same and you can decide what manufacturer/quality to go with depending on your budget. www.romancastro.com/resources If you have more questions join us for FISHY HOUR here live Mon and Wed at 7PM. www.FishyHour.com/live
As of now (9/25/19) 13 fishing origin TX is $95 on amazon. The 13 fishing concept z is $135. Both are very good choices for light saltwater fishing if you can't afford the $300 concept TX. Good video Roman. I never thought about how much extra weight the underwater camera was adding to your setup. You should try to get some footage of a leopard or horn shark eating a smelt or mak chunk.
That would make a crazy video. Just fish some chunk bait and see what comes to eat it. I'll see about setting that up. Thanks for watching and adding your rod reel recommendations.
Dope video, love the large amount of info and how you use visuals 👊🏻 you should try to take your kayak to the kelp and get A rig footage on calico eating in the kelp
@@RomanCastroVlog Yes, I did and got skunked. I tried shore pounding at Crown Point before the Jet Skis came out. But the PIFA traffic kept me from getting there. I ended up at Harbor Island.
Ah, sorry to hear about the skunk! I dont thing the spotties care about the jetski traffic. I've been hit many times right after a jetsky comes by. Harbor Island is so pressured I generally don't do well there from shore. That said even a skunk day out there is fun. The weather has been great.
@@RomanCastroVlog There was a festival this weekend so the vehicle traffic made it unbearable just to get out there. Jet Skis never really bothered me. I prefer the quiet so I try to go early before sunrise when the water is calm.
These are great reels for the price. You get some of the best features without paying for the top of the line that is only slightly better than these. Awwww man! I haven't finished the video but I know this is going to be lit!!!!
Love the support Josh! Thank you
Thanks Roman! Keep em coming!
Thanks FOE! I’m tryin’ 😊
very nice as always Roman..
Thanks coach. Check your texts :)
Nice video Roman. Why do you prefer a San Diego jam for the ned rig over a clinch or improved clinch knot? Is it better against snags? Stronger?

That would be some fun footage! What lures on the A-Rig? I think the ones I’m using are too small for the kelp.
I would use the same or 4” baits, calico smoke small baitfish in schools
Nice gear vid. Thanks for the info!
Thanks brother. Did you fish this weekend?

Yeah, you can't beat MB earl in the morning or at night. As soon as the wind dies down at the end of the day it's such a calming experience.
What rod and reel for spinning?
