My son was a victim of an armed robbery and shot 3 times. He is presently paralyzed T10. He has sensation and a long road. I told him that I didn't know how but I know for a fact he will walk again in his lifetime. This research gives solid hope that progress is being made. So many are suffering and this medical advancement would be a blessing for the patients and their entire circle of caregivers. Thank you.
@@DrBrandonBeaber Thank you. I have noticed their is zero information available on where they are on FDA approval or the start of human trials. We are really on the brink of new solutions.
Doctor, this is phenominal news! Thank you so much for sharing this local news since there was an additional article over msnewstoday from Australia 🧡🧡🧡
Thank you Dr. Beaber. Through participating in the elezanumab trial I have been thinking of Spinal Cord Lesions and the lack of ways to slow them down during an active relapse. I thought that a separate opportunity to see if the drug could work for MS, if administered during a relapse to see if some repair is possible for spinal cord lesions. Elezanumab is not going forward with MS, but was excited to see this video to see more research toward spinal cord injury. It may be a long while until it gets to MS, but all research starts out with mice. It’s a start. My spinal cord lesions are all old, but I have kids and there’s more people loosing capabilities due to spinal cord lesions with active MS. So I’m concerned about the future of MS treatment. It’s exciting yo see this research. Thank you. (I was in the placebo group)
Please look into treatment with trehalose that helps cells autophagy. Mice trials showed success as well. And I have came across people saying they are on trial with trehalose and doing much better.
I was paralyzed from T6-T7 at 21 from a snowmobile accident and I’m now 25. I’ve always seen advancements in areas such exoskeletons and such, but those don’t interest me nearly as much as being able to FEEL again. If I could never walk again but feel, I’d choose that. Obviously I’d love be fully cured but this is exactly the type of treatment/cure I’ve been hoping for. I only hope they’re able to find a way to help those who have been paralyzed for prolonged periods rather then needing an immediate treatment. Even when I had my accident it took almost 48 gruelling hours before I was brought in for surgery.
This isn't the first time that I've seen a Company inject paralyzed mice then amazingly they can walk again. All this does is crush the HOPE of my fellow MSERS. BIG PHARMA will stop the FDA to approve it anyway. Still trying to wrap my head around the fact that the US and Canada doesn't allow the procedure HSCT. ( Because of Big PHARMA ) My wife had it done in Mexico on 3/1/19 and her bladder and bowel system is working fantastic now. Blessed.
Excuse me what...? I've had bowel, bladder issues & sexual dysfunction since 2016 due to an SCI. Please tell me this is true.... where can I get it done in Mexico?! You're talking about stem cells right? Please let me know which institute and who to contact. Thank you!!!
This could be the solution for all the symptoms that I’ve been dealing with since so many years ago!! Please let us know the name of the institution and where’s located please!! Thanks!
Certainly, I have been hearing about these breakthroughs for 20 years, the only breakthrough is to the scientists income by the funding they receive at the injured expense
Hi sir my name is niranjan alapati, i am from India 5 years back i had a accident d7,d8 spinal cord compress from then I am totally on bed and no treatment from then because my family can not afford my treatment so I want to be a part in clinical trials for this medicine so please can you help me?
So do they think that this will work after 3yrs? I had lumbar surgery and woke with paralysis in both legs. One leg came back within a few days, other leg still has partial paralysis. I also have MS. There was no indication of any relapse. Rather my MS is now progressive. With mind over matter by tying that leg/foot to pedal of recumbent bike, I started to get get muscles working in that leg. But I am petrified that one little sickness that keeps me in bed longer than a night, I will be back to square one. As I continuously take 1 step back every single night when sleeping by not using it
Dr. Beaber, I am a first-year undergrad student reading this article. I love your video because it helps me understand it much better!!! However, it seems to me that for the question you raised at 8:50, the researchers provided a reason for the difference in bioactivity between FGF2-PA1 and FGF2-PA2 on page 7?
this information is it true i am L1and T12 spinal cord injury since 4/4/2013 and 32yrs old now, iam still paralyzed in lower part so if it's true i could feel delighted, doctor kindly reply for my message thanks may God bless you
@DrBrandonBeaber I wonder if this combined with NVG-291 could be an even more effective spinal cord repair therapy. Well thanks for your response and for all the great MS info, doctor.
Hello guys, we are at the end of 2022. Will these injections be used? If anyone knows when they will be used, please tell me because I have been suffering from paralysis for a long time.
Very interesting publication .. Quick Question: Is FGF-2 in use in a drug (on or off label) or under investigation in a MS study to your knowledge ....
Great stuff. Still SC nerve regeneration in people with MS seems to be a big challenge, only Terry Wahls can pull that one of. Is it stupid idea to cut off some scarred nerve edges in people with MS before injecting the scaffolds. Or is neurosurgery far from doing something like that. Many thanks for the vid!
It's hard to say this research is directly applicable to MS, but in theory, MS should be more treatable than traumatic injury in the sense that axons are often preserved. Remyelination should be more straight forward than any process involving axon sprouting or cell proliferation.
@@DrBrandonBeaber why do you refer to Him as Strupp..everything looks like Stupp ..? Also other labs uphave done scaffold therapy..
