in case you did not know as I don’t see it being mentioned, Mahmood took 2nd place in the Eurovision in 2019. Both of them are very popular in Italy and in Europe in general, so it’s safe to say they will be among top 5 in the finals this year.

Popularity in Europe usually doesn't translate well in Eurovision. It's definitely not a thing that guarantees success. However the song is amazing and will do well.
Brividi has truly gone viral in the not even two weeks since its release:
- it broke the record for the highest number of streams in one day post-release in italy (3.4 million)
- the mv currently has 25 million views (the live performance, which is now deleted, had another 12 million) + 33 million streams on spotify
- they were 5th in the global chart on spotify, and are now in the top 10 in the global 200 (ex US) singles chart
- it earned a platinum disc in italy just today
- it’s no. 1 in virtually all charts in italy, switzerland and lithuania
I don’t think any eurovision song has had this much success in 12 days post-release, or even in general to be honest.
3:48 Yes, Blanco turned 19 a few days ago, he became famous during the pandemic, so he didn't have the chance to make many concerts. He had like 3 before singing on the most important stage of Italy. As a fan of him I didn't expect him to be this good live, this definitely makes me appreciate the song even more!
Italy is part of the so-called ‘Big 5’ - France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom - who are automatically pre-qualified for the Grand Final (together with the host country - always Italy, in this case). So, yes, they will be in the live finals :)
1. Cantano is not Blanco's name, it means in Italian "singing" :D
2. Italy is in the final automatically because they are in top5 and they are hosts :-)

Beautiful song, Blanco it’s only 19 and a little bit “ crazy “ in a good way. I loved his voice, it’s been a revelation 🥰🥰. Thank Georgina, they’re already winners. To win SanRemo Festival it’s a huge achievement for Italian singers 🤗
His name is just Blanco. "Cantano" means "(they) sing" :) he was meant to take the cloak off a bit later but he felt uncomfortable. He actually apologized for it as soon as he stopped singing and it was so funny and sweet 😂 he was just 18 (he turned 19 a couple of days ago) but with how good of a singer he is and how comfortable and "crazy" he is around people, you almost forget that he's so young. Then he apologizes on national television for something so small and you remember 😂

I obviously can't compare "Brividi" with "Zitti e buoni" (Måneskin's winning song), totally different songs, style and genre but as a Rock lover It's easy for me to chose my favourite. With that being said I think this song works. Their harmonies are almost perfect, the back and forth of the storytelling between the two gentlemen keeps the interest high, at least for me. We (Italy) are an automatic qualifier (crazy rule but still...) and I think this song can do quite good in the Final. Also, having a huge portion of the audience in the arena understanding the lyrics and eventually singing along can be a great plus. Good luck to them. From the moment I watched and listened to it, this song went straight to my first place for this year, I really hope it wins.
Mahmood is way more experienced, he's 29, has won sanremo in 2019 and came in 2nd in Eurovision with "Soldi", while Blanco was only 18 during this performance (he turned 19 a few days ago), he's definitely popular in Italy but his career took off during the pandemic so he didnt really have a chance to sing live much. This was also his first performance in Sanremo, which always causes a lot of anxiety even in singers with decades long careers so it's safe to say he did really well
Italy 🇮🇹 is already in the final, because they are part of the big 5. The other countries are Spain 🇪🇸, Germany 🇩🇪, France 🇫🇷 and United Kingdom 🇬🇧
I love them so much! The song is gorgeous, they match perfectly together and the harmonies are insane... I would not be surprised if Italy won for the second year in a row!

Another important thing about this song is that Mahmood is gay while Blanco is straight. Nevertheless, the emotions they are talking about in the song are the same. That's a gorgeous way to make everybody understand that love is love, it doesn't matter who you love.

Hi @Georgina...number one this is Sanremo which is a very old and important music festival/competition/event in italy...it juts happens that they decide to send the winners or the youngest 2nd places to the Eurovision...anyway...this was the 1st evening and i must say...these 2 were kinda nervous...and sucked a little bit...the 2nd evening went way better...and 3rd as well and they won...you should listen to those ones... Oh and you should ABSOLUTELY listen to Emma Marrone with Francesca Michielin singing BABY ONE MORE TIME...it was AMAZING... I should also say...that their diction is actually perfect...i dont know how foreigners perceive how italian is supposed to sound...but it doesnt sound like Pizza and Mandolino with sicilian accent...that's a stereotype...
I know it's gonna qualify since it automatically does (Big 5 and host). For now, it's my runner up behind Czech Republic but it may evolve, especially with Norway coming next Saturday. It sounds silly but I'm very proud of my Italian roots.
Think what you hear from Blanco is the accent. It's very difficult to mess the diction in Italian as you have to pronounce each and every word... If you get the diction wrong, it's mainly because you actually forget the words and/or stutter
I think she means that some words are are a bit "dragged" as a kind of moan, which, I think, it's fine given the lyrics he is singing.
It makes feel the pain to say so "sharp" words to the loved one.

La dizione non c'entra nulla con la lingua in cui è cantata la canzone. Non ci vuole tanto a sentire che la dizione di Blanco è un po' - come dire... - sporca, offuscata ma non necessariamente in senso negativo. E se tutti sono in grado di capirlo, figurati una vocal coach con anni di esperienza! Per dizione si riferisce, suppongo, al fatto che Blanco non scandisce bene le parole quando canta e questo non è da considerare come un aspetto negativo, ma anzi è proprio nello stile di tutte le sue canzoni farlo. Mahmood, invece, le scandisce bene.
Insomma, è una qualità più o meno apprezzabile, ma quando l'Honest vocal coach si riferisce alla dizione (chiarendo anche di non riferirsi alla lingua italiana perchè non la conosce), si tratta di un giudizio critico di un esperto che di canto ne sa parecchio e non di giudicare 'sbagliata' la dizione di Blanco. Dopodiché, se continua a farti ridere, meglio così: almeno significa che sei felice. Ciò che voglio dire è solo che il giudizio tecnico della dizione è un conto, della lingua in cui si canta è un altro.

@@fluz2222 The big 5 get into the grand finale instantly, because they fund most of Eurovision. This includes UK, Germany, Spain, France and Italy. Then the host country also automatically qualifies, which is why the Netherlands did last year. Usually 6 countries automatically quality, but only 5 this year as Italy is hosting and is also part of the big 5.
Pity you don't understand Italian because it is one of the most romantic lyrics I have ever heard.. It's a beautiful song with complimenting voices, it's like they are conversing their unrequited love for each other through this song. Beautiful melody....phewwwwww Italy . 2:32 Italy has no need to qualify. Besides being a Big 5 country they're also the host country. So they're double-qualified to the finals.
Look, I’m not being funny but if you’re going to try to talk with any kind of authority about Eurovision, you need to do some basic homework. Italy doesn’t need to qualify as it’s both the host this year and one of the Big 5 🙄

And after all, after the great success that had Maneskin last year, now it's time to leave the pod for someone else. It's good to recognize the efforts and the passion of every band from every country.
