      I remember when I had just passed my drivers exam. We lived near the German border, so dad decided I needed some experience with a Freibahn. In the Netherlands you clear the most right driving lane. I heard the sirens, everybody going left and right and I panicked and my dad was screaming 'To the left! Goddammit! To the left!' So I ended up in the middle, dad screaming to drive as fast as I can in an effort not to block the ambulance. I almost crashed into a policecar. Police yelling at me and then at my dad, my dad yelling at me and police. And then the driver of the ambulance came round and very cool and calm said: Bitte Fraulein, we only have room for one.

      I don't know where you live, but overall it is definitely NOT normal on german roads. that is why the Feuerwehr and Polizei constantly make advertisements, because some people are either too retarded to build a Rettungsgasse, or too ignorant and egoistic.

      Maybe the difference is, that we in Germany are obliged by law to create a corridor for emergency vehicle access whenever traffic slows you down to walking speed or when you come to a total halt. Even when there is no accident. There might be, you don't know.

      langlang it's as easy as it can be: no matter if you know that there's an emergency scene up ahead, as soon as you end up in a traffic jam, federal traffic laws require you to immediately create an emergency vehicle passing lane, not wainting until an emergency vehicle approaches. It's not impossible, just thinking a little bit further ahead

    As a paramedic in the USA I can say that we never get that level of respect when we drive code 3. People are so self absorbed these days and caught up with social media or music. They either don't care or don't know how to react when I pull up behind them. I don't like using the lights and siren but when I do it's because someone is having possibly the worst day of their life. Traffic accidents kill more first responders than anything else. I personally have lost a friend because of this. When I'm caring for my patient it's impossible for me to wear a seat belt in the back of the ambulance, so please when you see an emergency vehicle running code 3 slow down and pull to the right because they could be on their way to help someone you love.

    • @EnjoyFirefighting
      @EnjoyFirefighting 8 років тому +1

      impossible to wear a seatbelt? Why so? I don't have a problem caring about my patient and keeping the seetbealt on while beingin the back of the ambulance while driving...

    • @TheImedic
      @TheImedic 8 років тому +13

      I guess it really depends on the truck u are in. But I work in a large box unit when I sit on the bench and put a seat belt on I can't reach anything in the cabinets and if I have to do chest compressions it's impossible to do sitting on the seat. Where I work we don't have an auto pulse any such CPR machine. I do however have an impact aev vent. I have seen some newer sprinter type ambulances that appear to be better designed but I haven't had a chance to work in one

    • @EnjoyFirefighting
      @EnjoyFirefighting 8 років тому +1

      well, I work in a large ambulance as well, a Sprinter with a large box body with enough space for a crew of 4 or 5 treating the patient and preparing stuff before leaving the scene; We do everything we need before we are heading off towards the hospital, so I can remain on my seat with my seatbelt on the whole time; In case of critical changes in the conditions with further, far reaching actions necessary, we'd stop again

    • @TheImedic
      @TheImedic 8 років тому +4

      Where I work I don't have the benefit of extra help. It's usually just me and my emt partner and being rural transport times are very long. Because of that anything bad is usually load and go with me working by my self during transport. It's not very realistic for us to just stop on the side of the road just so I can reach something. I'm not saying that it's impossible to do everything sitting down saying u have everything within reach but my question to u is this. How is it possible for you to do good quality CPR sitting down and seatbelted in. You can't just stop and do chest compressions only when you are stopped. At some point you have to transport the pt. And mechanical compression machines don't work on everyone. So I'd really like to know your technique to accomplish this. I've never seen anyone sit and be able to do effective CPR

    • @EnjoyFirefighting
      @EnjoyFirefighting 8 років тому +2

      I'm at a ruralEMS provider as well, with the station being in a town halfway between all the surrounding hospitals; With 2 to3 on the ambulance, further crew members only come when the emergency doctor is dispatched from a neighbouring town.
      Until now I didn't had to perform CPR while driving to the hospital

    • @myrillya
      @myrillya 8 років тому +118

      +the b biddim Intelligent drivers? xD
      Well, that's not that true... We've got a law that tells us to react like this when there is a sirene and blue light.
      On the Autobahn you have to get space for the ambulance (etc.) between the left lane and the one right next to it.
      You have to pay quite a lot to get a driving licence. For a licence to drive with a normal car, you need 14x 1 1/2h theory lessons and an amount of driving lessons with a qualified driving teacher including special lessons like driving on the Autobahn or at night. And only if you had all the required hours in theory and driving, you're allowed to do a theoretical test, and only if you passed it you can do your driving test. And theeen you've got your licence, so you don't want to lose it :D
      For me it took from June to October to get mine and only because I trained for it (and I had free time to do it, if you have to work next to the driving school it will take way more time). :D

    • @GettingNervous
      @GettingNervous 8 років тому +78

      +the b biddim That is a myth. We have speed limits on the german autobahn. There are only a few areas with no speed limit.

    • @twentypaphøniess
      @twentypaphøniess 8 років тому +62

      +Sebastian Namyslik noo we actually do have alot without one. some say like 120 but thats bundesstraße, autobahn is normally unlimited

    • @GettingNervous
      @GettingNervous 8 років тому +26

      Sorry, you´re wrong. 53% are unlimited and 47% have a speed limit (30% generally and 17% temporary). So add the limited areas due to a cunstruction area and there is not many unlimited areas left. And on the interstate roads there is a limit of 100km/h, not 120km/h.
      Tut mir leid, da liegst Du falsch. Stand 2013 waren 53% der Autobahnen mit keinem Tempolimit belegt und 47% waren limitiert, davon 30% ständig und 17% temporär. Wenn Du dann berücksichtigst das wir 2016 haben und die Vielzahl an temporären Tempolimits wegen Baustellen dazurechnest bleibt da nicht einmal die Hälfte die kein Tempolimit hat. Allein auf meinem Weg zur Arbeit sind von den 40km nur 10km ohne Limit.Und auf Bundesstrassen gilt Tempo 100, nicht 120.

I see too many idiots who literally just stop on the side as soon as they see/hear an emergency vehicle approaching. they end up blocking the road and the emergency vehicle can't pass. They need to not be some short sighted they need to stop where the vehicle can pass them easily and quickly.

    • @RubenKelevra
      @RubenKelevra 7 років тому +20

      Well, he's just stupid, you have to make room for an ambulance by law before you stop on the Autobahn, even if there is none. So all drivers on the right lanes have to move over to the most right side of the lane and the left lanes' ones have to move left. So he just wanted to take over or is plain stupid.

    • @trashblob
      @trashblob 2 роки тому +3

      @@cdemr the thing is, that in some countries, the driving license is really easy to get. For example, in the US (or at least in some states) you only have to bring a paper from your parents to school, where they sign that you took the driving hours with them. Then, you have to do a practical test on a small track, and you're good to go. The Theoretical test is a joke compared to EU standards, too. Oh, and I think you have to be only 17 or so ..
      That's why many U.S. Citizens are kinda impressed by how good EU drivers are every so often. Because we actually learn shit about it. xD
      I mean, I had to learn 1004 Questions for motorcycle theory, and only when i got ALL of them right, I was allowed to do the theoretic test. Answer incorrectly - do it again, but this time you have to do it right twice! >.>

I Love it cause in Germany you can say: when an accident happens (don't matter where) an ambulance just needs 10 to 15 Minutes to reach you. So that is the point: all drivers let ambulance Drive and Nobody has to die.

    • @EnjoyFirefighting
      @EnjoyFirefighting 9 років тому +8

      Soli DeVries
      we were commenting onto a video from Germany, and I answered onto a comment which described the situation in Germany, not Alaska! And nevertheless how far the distances are somewhere in the outback of other countries, a 15 minutes / 15 miles drive is long for us. Keep in mind there are medical issues where the chance to survive decreases by 10% in each minute
      And no you are wrong about the time limit in Germany: on the one hand, there are 16 different regulations according to the 16 different EMS state laws, which already differ from the point from when on the time is counted, and the response times limits range from 8 minutes in populated areas in North Rhine-Westphalia to 17 minutes in rural areas in Thuringia.. However this actually ain't a real limit, we only have to be able to kkeep within that limit in 95% of all responses / setteled people. Even if we respond at 140 kph in a 80 kph zone, it can be damn hard for us to keep within any of the given time limits

      Stephan Bijzitter there is an "emergency lane" in germany too, its on the right side and use by this firetruck near the end. However it is not considered to be the lane such truck has to drive threw, because there can always be another stranded car (maybe out of gas or some bullshit) to block that lane leaving the firetruck stuck. So the best way was chosen to open up space between the left and middle lane, because normally all cars on those lanes are still able to move out of the way.

      Linn Amayako Oh ein deutscher! ja das Video muss sehr alt sein, denn heutzutage ist es noch schlimmer! In der Fahrschule lernt man, dass die Rettungsgasse Pflicht ist. Das ist den Leuten aber egal. Heutzutage ist es schon Seltenheit, dass man als Feuerwehrmann eine solche Gasse sieht, wenn man zum Einsatz auf die Autobahn fährt. Nur weil diese Egoisten zu faul sind und ganz schnell am Ziel sein wollen. Und deswegen sterben unschuldige Menschen bei Unfällen, weil wir Rettungskräfte nicht schnell genug oder gar gar nicht am Einsatzort ankommen. In Österreich zahlt man als Autofahrer 2000€, wenn man keine Rettungsgasse bildet. Da werden über Kameras die Kennzeichen gescannt und ein Bußgeld ausgeschrieben. Und in Deutschland wollen wir das auch durchsetzen. Denn ein Leben ist mehr wert als jedes Geld oder eine rechtzeitige Ankunft im Urlaub. Doch diese Strafe von 2000€ ist hoffentlich ein Denkzettel für diese Leute. Und es ist eine Schande, dass Leute aus anderen Ländern dieses Video sehen und uns loben, für etwas, was gar nicht mehr Realität ist. Und ja schon in diesem Fall habens manche nicht geschafft die Rettungsgasse zu bilden...

      SemperLudere Kanal ja, wäre ein leichtes dass die polizei einfach mit ihrer kamera die fahrt durch den stau aufzeichnet und wenn die rettung geschehen ist wird das videomaterial ausgewertet und jeder der sich nicht richtig verhalten hat bekommt ne strafe, fertig. was meinst du wie schnell die leute das lernen würden ne rettungsgasse zu bilden wenn sie in einen stau kommen... :)

    • @mjnicke132
      @mjnicke132 9 років тому +4

      +Phippo Das ergibt doch keinen Sinn. Manchmal sind zu viele Autos auf der Straße und die, die von hinten aufgefahren sind blockieren einigen Autofahrern den "Stellplatz".
      Oder Lastwagen, die auf der Mittleren Spur fahren, wo sollen sie bitte hin, wenn neben ihnen die rechte Spur völlig belegt ist?
      Und was ist mit Touristen? Ich meine die Regeln zu lernen ist eine Sache, aber zu wissen, wie man eine Rettungsgasse bildet ist doch eher ein Punkt der nicht so gewöhnlich ist. :O

My mate and I grinned at each other and than I floored our van through traffic .... which made even more people checking thier morrors and moving over xDxDxD

      of course they were supposed to stop, what else would you do when all lanes are blocked?! And btw, if you are standing at a red lgiht and an emergency vehicle approaches from behind, you are supposed to slowly go through the red light into the intersection in case they can't get around you otherwise

    • @_GatoradeMeBitch

      EnjoyFirefighting - International Emergency Response Videos And why are all the lanes blocked? Because they have all stopped. They could easily keep on going slowly while freeing one lane for the emerc. vehicles.

      EnjoyFirefighting - International Emergency Response Videos There were many comments, and my answer was just a part of them. Usually all of the lanes aren't all blocked, as long as the humans are out of the crashed vehicles the lanes should be free. Then again, some said that you should always stop.

      There was an accident that blocked the whole highway. No one was going anywhere.
      I feel like if everyone just stayed where they were it would have been easier since the emergency vehicle could just use the shoulder

    • @EnjoyFirefighting
      @EnjoyFirefighting 8 років тому +2

      +Hayden Anderson uhm not really; The shoulder is narrower than a normal driving lane, to get it into some perpective: pretty much as wide as a commercial truck chassis, just like this fire truck. They'd have some trouble driving down the shoulder, and keep in mind that we operate even larger, in terms of wider, emergency vehicles than just normal fire trucks. Those wouldn't have a chance on the shoulder. Apart from that the federal traffic law concerning the emergency vehicle passing lane between the driving lanes is relevant for ALL multilane roads outside the citylimits, which includes roads and parts of highways which don't even have a shoulder

    I'm impressed that drivers so far ahead were able to hear the siren/see the lights, even with trucks potentially blocking sight and sound. I'm interested in the particulars of the ambulances' emergency lights and siren system that makes German emergency vehicles so noticeable and carry so far.
    For instance, I noticed the siren was much lower pitched than it usually is hear in the states so I can see how the sound carries a greater distance and through other vehicles.

    • @EnjoyFirefighting
      @EnjoyFirefighting 8 років тому +30

      technically, the siren you heard here, a set of martin horns type 2297 GM, are pretty much as loud as a Federal Signal Q, the mechanical siren you find on many American fire apparatus (btw, it wasn't an ambulance in the video, but either an Engine or Rescue Engine from a volunteer FD).
      However, German emergency vehicles tend to have relatively few lights: ambulances and full size fire trucks usually have a total number of 6 emergency lights: two on the cab, two in the grill and 2 at the rear. Emergency vehicles with more lights exist, but are rather rare. The ambulance at the EMS provider I work for has a total number of 18 lights and is really extraordinary in Germany.
      According to federal traffic laws, drivers are required to create an emergency vehicle passing lane between both driving lanes of a higwhay or another multilane road outside the citylimits as soon as traffic backs up, this includes, that they are supoosed not to wait until they notice an emergency vehicle approaching from behind, without knowing if there's actually an accident ahead or not. If it works perfectly, the lane is cleared before the 1st emergency vehicles reach the traffic jam

    • @Dizikolik3
      @Dizikolik3 8 років тому +2

      Rs Rt İt is actually really loud you can hear it even when you listen to music. And they probably guessed looking in their back mirrors that people are pulling over

    • @supralevamentum223
      @supralevamentum223 7 років тому +7

      Also it seems it is a traffic jam already so most people are not driving fast (or stopped). As you can tell by the end o the view the road is completely blocked and likely has been for at least a few minutes. Hope that helps decipher why everyone was rather good as telling there was something coming up from behind them.

    • @luisabosse7116
      @luisabosse7116 7 років тому +35

    Ive read a lot comments about how loud the siren must be as they form the rescue alley far in front of the firetruck. As a german i can tell you that a rescue alley will be made as soon the traffic stops, not when you hear the siren, at this point its too late to form it. So traffic stops =》form the rescue alley. If its needed its allready there. The sirens are not louder than in US, Kolumbia, Austria, Chech Republik, croatia, Italy, denmark. Best greez from Bavaria.
