Yes! When he said, "Usually when I do this (open the engine bay) its not a good sign. But for this reason, (Larry Chen) im happy to do it!" He should be proud of his build. Good job Larry's team, for insisting he reviewed the car.
Boys, this is the golden age of being a car guy or gal. There's still countless crazy builds we haven't seen 😁 Rest of the world is f**ked, but car culture is still bringing us all together ❤
Aside from the fact Dem's are killing our passion by mandating EV's/hybrids.. Even for sports/Supercars. With minimal research youll know their green agenda is a scam. EV battery mining & production is already extremely high in pollution & c02. And 50-80% of electricity comes from coal, oil & gas anyway. But despite that, sportscars/supercars make up literally just 1/100th of 1% (0.013%) of all transportation c02 emissions globally. A mere 750,000 tons, out of 7 BILLION TONS total. Barely a drop in the ocean. Voting for Trump & Republicans is the only chance we have to reverse some of these BS laws.
because those builds are the ones that best exhibit obsession. These come from a place of passion, loving a vehicle so much you want to get it sorted and perfect it, yet never wanting to eliminate the reasons you fell in love. In my opinion one of the best examples of this Is Rob Dahms 4 rotor, He has a video where one of the designers of the rx7 saw his car and they got to talk about it, Where the designer was talking about how he loved how he kept certain aspects of the design very well, and even gave some insights on other design alterations. One man creates a legacy, others keep them alive and advancing.
Hey Larry, I know this was a great 28 minute impromptu video, but you gotta get this guy on your channel again with an official build and backdrop video. His car needs to be featured in either NFS or Forza. Great video as always fam. 🎉🎉
🚙 *As an '04 .:R32 owner, I deeply appreciate this video.* Thank you so much for taking the time to film and interview Steven Berchtold @Golf_R59, and sharing so much info on this jaw-dropping build. Having track experience with my own .:R32, I could immediately identify the cornering difference from the mid-engine placement. His aero is awesome. My full respect! _Thanks again for this video, and please keep making this content._ 🙌
Original mk4 owner love this and i still have the car although i stopped tuning after 10 years of ownership due to work + family priorities, you are amazing
@@Snake_47 Sure but he could have also used a regular 4motion golf if he only uses the shell basically The r32 has become quiete rare and expensive nowadays
@@boostaddict_ Exactly which means he knows nothing about the pdigree of a R32. But saying a Golf isnt as click baiting as saying VW R32. A 700Hp VW is nothing to brag about especially when you americanize it, but as he said he just wanted to have fun, no arguements there.
Rad. You know, my favorite episodes from you are the ones where you don't know much or anything about the build. Your excitement and questioning is damn near the same points I would've been asking myself. Awesome episode!
Till now i have been thinking I was going to be the first to do something like this. but to see it in real life i imagined exactly like this. this is an inspiration. Thank You Steven and Larry
i think... this is the wildest car you have EVER featured... i mean that. i can't recall seeing anything similar to this outside of like , hill climb cars.
Awesome interview again, Larry knows what to ask, and then steps back and let him talk. @10:15 I love his attitude, and that's what every craftsman thinks, that sucks how can I improve it? Very inspirational too, best of luck.
I love that he built this. I'm genuinely happy for him and how much effort he's put into making perfect for him and the platform he has used just shows you can make any car into anything you want it to be.
Larry, your YT channel is like the JRE Podcast of gearhead/car-guy channels and I absolutely LOVE IT!!! You just let your guests "cook" and explain every nook and cranny of their vehicle's build and setup it's so good man. thank you
Thank you so much. That was one of the best gifts I have ever received. You did an awesome job with it. I am looking at it right now as it sits on the fireplace mantel.
I've been looking forward to this video since your photos of this beast on IG a few weeks ago. As a VW & an .:R32 enthusiast since the R32 was announced back in 2002, it is just surreal to watch the breakdown of this build.
Pretty much what I did with every Monogram or Revell model kit after a while when all those spares or optional parts started adding up. More than 50 years ago and I still dig it!
Once again thank u for sharing. Insane insane mind blowing build....I can tell that Steve is a truly passionate deep down in his soul on HPD and craftsmanship. Such a layback attitude and very cool guy. Wow is just tne word on this Mk4 build❤❤❤
Sooo awesome u found this gem insane build....and all just for fun love these kind of builder/drivers they know what they want and they just make it happen
That first sequence totally reminded me of the legendary Dahlbäck Golf MkIV: all wheel drive, 650 horsepower and a giant flame-spitting exhaust. This thing was WILD! 😁🤘
Not only are R32s completly underrated in the states the VW New beetle Turbo S as well and there were only 15K ever made of the Turbo S and the badge looks like a Porsche badge which is crazy btw its a dang shame 😭
Everything is crazy about this car. Not to mention the logo 23:38 epic sound and that girl's reaction. I'd love to hear the cold start😅. 25:11 imagine the confusion of someone seeing from this angle 😆
I never liked the design of the golf 4, So I never liked that car too much. But this build is incredible. I love dedicated, purpose built cars like this one. This is the most dedicated creation I ever saw. Cool dude aswell.

My favorite builds are when Mad scientist goes nuts but still retains the silhouette of the car

Absolutely incredible to see an R32 built solely around equal corner weight distribution. This guy is a technical artist.

Second this. The car, or at least the mods, need to be included in Forza Horizon and Motorsport.
This build is nuts

Passion unlimited. This took alooooot of time and work just to see if it will work or garbage. Amazing and humble creator.
What a completely brilliant mad scientist! Such a cool car.
At first I was like wow he cut up a Tornado Red R32 :( but Damn he did this car justice. This guy is a genius, I love it.
Shouldn't leave cars untouched to be garage princesses. It's so much better when someone modifies it, especially to this level.

What’s crazy is as soon as he explains it all, even the drivers view, the car makes perfect sense. I bet this car drives phenomenal on the track.
It’s like he wanted a Corvette track car but didn’t want to give up a MkIV’s door closing sound. Top marks, I get it 👌

2:30 I started cackling because I knew this was gonna be good when I saw his seating position LMAO.
At this point, he might as well chop the entire roof, and make his own small windsheild. Extremely cool build!
"It's a matter of getting used to it." Truer words haven't been spoken!
This guy has been right in my backyard this entire time, and I never knew. Love the exposure, seems like an absolute engineering nut. Lovely build.

they say "less is more"... with this car "MORE is MORE". love the build!
These are my absolute favorite kind of builds. What a cool drivers car.
Every detail is thoughtful, everything is there for a reason and the wiring is done with ease in mind.
So cool to finally see all these details, I did a painting of this car as a gift from his brother, amazing build!

The Dahlbäck golf was way over 650, it was over 800.
Anyone else notice the super large supercapacitor bank he has sitting on the passenger side b pillar floor?

So sick. Crazy amount of work. Awesome job
What a build!!!! Talk about following your imagination. Great coverage Larry.
Cool car, cool guy, thank you for covering him
I’m always amazed at people’s wiring! Solid state pdm guys. Not hating, trying to help. Props. What a massive undertaking of a build.
Love seeing passion builds like this, just to build something this crazy cause you want too.
