I remember coming home from school and watching Wings on the Discovery Channel. I watched this very episode when it was first aired. Spell bound. These late episodes of Wings were the very best. Thank you for sharing
I agree David, as a kid of the late 80/early 90s....there was nothing better than WINGS. The theme song from the original WINGS, can instantly raise my mood to the stratosphere!
1:52 "typically this intercontinental weapon strikes from 500 feet at more than 900mph." (900mph-1.2 mach or 720 knots). The B-1B isn't going supersonic at 500 feet. It was designed to penetrate at 200 feet at 628 knots or Mach 0.95.
What a great documentary, during a quite tense and uneasy time. I hope someone in Iran, who is influential is watching this right now, and i pray it brings clarity, and sobers the more fanatical of minds. There is only one conclusion that can be made: *The United States of America is quite ready, capable, and clearly willing to reduce any threat to our interests and people, to the extent that the camel will be the highest piece of technology available to them, if their lucky.* War is a disgusting and unnecessary byproduct of humanity becoming inhumane. It benefits no one of import or worthy of remark. *wake up folks, this is going to get nasty if the more reasonable thinking people do nothing, and let the crazies disseminate national policy, on either side of this.* Reasonable people, can ALWAYS come to an amicable resolution to any problem. I believe this is paramount, BEFORE shtf.
So, is any of the bomber force able to get airborne with nuclear weapons if an ICBM strike comes? It sounds like we are dependent upon some deployment shell games and situational warning to have bombers at sufficient readiness for rapid response.
Wellllll....... just like now sitting in my cozy couch eating ORGANIC popcorn glazed with ORGANIC acacia honey, (...as this food is described), watching war documentaries on Curved OLED TV, wandering if ill be able to watch on my torsioned TV, my favorite one : UA-cam, Live TV or my CCTV, decent people carrying theirs job like nuclear strikes around the world, and why not in front of my front door...
What most don't know is the Russians come once a year to inspect the b-1 to make sure the bulkhead between the forward and middle bay is installed...if it's not, it's nuke capable. I know this because I was on escort duty walking these inspectors around to the plane.

@ Paul Schab The B1B can still fly the low level mission , it just has not needed to because it has not been used against a modern air defense system. It has deployed at high altitude with JDAMs and other gps guided weapons they dis not have when this tv show was made in the early 90s... If it was deployed against S300 or S400 defended airspace it would fly at low level...
The B1-B is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful aircraft ever designed, built, and proven to be a fantastic asset to the USAF, I hope that when they retire them they don’t get the treatment the B-52s suffered at the start of this documentary. At the time of this being made the UNITED STATES had 180 heavy bombers, more than some nations have in total as an Airforce, I am so glad that the USA 🇺🇸 is a member of NATO and closely allied to most of the reasonable nations and their leadership. I also wonder what the USA has up its sleeve, the B-2 is a wonderful aircraft but I think it was a bit of a waste of taxpayers $, I am sure that the B-2 was a brilliant asset to the USAF, but it’s role as a conventional weapons platform was a not even needed, no wonder they only built so few. I am sure that someone, somewhere in some think tank is or has already designed the next generation of aircraft, or maybe it’s already built and lying in wait at Groom Lake to be unleashed on an unsuspecting enemy, probably located in the Middle East!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🇮🇷????????????? Thanks for sharing this excellent, interesting and informative film 🎥👍😀🇬🇧🏴
This episode, as well as the A-1 cobra, have the best pacing, editing, and writing of the entire series. My complaint with some Wings episode (particularly SeaWings) is that sometime the flow of the story is easy to understand, but the topic is all over the place (see the Panther episode)
Before all this stupid hero warship crap we have had over the last half decade or so. Discovery, history channel, military Chan always used to be absolute units. Now they’re utter trash, “American heroes channel”? Lol Christ that’s stupid.
From Squadron/Signal Publication, from their In Action series of the B-1 Lancer, the author was told to refer it as 'The Bone'. Love this majestic aircraft, one of the best. Take care, anf all the best.
The crews of the B1 have balls of steel, bombs, but just chaff for protection against intercepters and fighters, but this doc should have been called B-1, 2,3,4, 52etc....

Great documentary. Thanks for the upload. I really miss this type of programming from The History Channel and The Discovery Channel.
i'm from russia.
we will crush america in war.
america is weak and not smart. they have little missles
Better times.
The B1B is a nice looking aircraft
Will it outlast a B52 though.

How things have changed in 4 years.
B-1B documentary: shows B-2, B-52, and B-47
Jo Abes it’s more of a SAC documentary than an individual aircraft, but it’s still a great documentary.
@@FN_FAL_4_ever oh yeah sure
My dad flew an F-4 Phantom during Vietnam and after the war, went on to fly the B-52 Bomber. He never had a chance to fly a B-1.
Tupolev Tu-160 has entered the chat. Twice the payload (99,000 pounds) and twice the speed at Mach 2.
How many do they have, and how many are mission capable?? Mach 2.2 @ what altitude on radar?

The best documentary story ever this is why iam super fan of some bombers in USA B1LANCER is the supersonic bomber ever

The resolution and the videos are impormative

Your b1 lancer video is not with the b1 lancer, Even through you stopped the comments..!
The B1B no longer flies the low level mission. Very stressful on the airframe.

LeMay was NOT the first CINCSAC. That was George C Kenney of 5th AF fame. Good video, BUT do your own research, kiddos. Even TV channels hose stuff.

Kinda unsettling to think how close we got to actual extinction. This documentary really puts things in perspective
If the US government is allowing this information out, I'd just insibe what they're not telling us
