Loving these. Fascinating to see the Snarky Puppy learning process. Learning and recording two songs a day that you've never heard. True pros. And great touch to include the Larnell laser eyes!
You guys figuring out the parts together on the fly like that was so cool! A vlog where all you guys talk about that process and your chemistry would be awesome!
Don’t know why someone gave this a thumbs down. Maybe they were searching for Skinny Puppy? While I’m here, I might take up violin as a second instrument tho. Also can’t stop singing this melody.
This if FABULOUS Bob. Thanks for sharing. :-) It's almost like you knew in advance that the video accompaniment to your solo would feature Larnell shooting laser beams from his eyes. ;-)
Hi Bob! Will you talk about the decision to learn the horn lines as a section, in the studio, without sheet music vs. coming into the meeting with the music learned or at least written. Thanks for all the great content!
As far as I know, Snarky literally bring in the majority of the music for everyone to learn and rehearse on recording day - and it's always been that way. Larnell once told the story of how he learned all of the music for We Like It Here on the plane journey to the live sessions, then played it physically for the first time when the cameras started rolling. Insane.
we never have sheet music. that comes only after it's been recorded. here's an interview where I go into more details: bobreynoldsmusic.com/interviewed-on-kcrw/
@@samcooke343 HA, that's true! I was in the studio audience litterly sitting beside Larnel Lewis.. and he nailed it! The story is on the DVD We Like it here.. the drummer that was planned to come, had issues with his visa or something, so they called Larnell Lewis just days before the recording started.
Props to Zach Brock (violin) for fitting right in there with the horn players. What is Maz like? To me, he and Michael are the faces of Snarky Puppy. Probably because they're in every video that I've seen on UA-cam.
Thanks so much for the inside view, Bob! I have listened to "Immigrance" since It came out yesterday at least 4 times. NIce grooves, great solo, excellent sound! Btw, love your shirt, man... Looking forward to seeing you at the ZigZag Club 10th of April in Berlin! Alex
Did I already tell you that I love that shirt ( i have the grey version of it).... so Derek my boyfriend who is a drummer are discussing if it shouldn‘t read 40 bpm 🤪i am really looking forward to hear you play in Berlin
Amazon usually marks up the product about 100% if it's not something well known. So for amazon to sell it for 15$, the musician would have to sell it to amazon for 7,50$. Depending on the label deal the label gets, for example, 40% of that. This can be different for well known products. If you buy the CD from the labels website, the label gets it's percentage as well. If you buy from the musician directly, all the money goes to the musician. Wether buying from the musicians website counts as bought from the label or from the musician is subject to the specific label deal. The musician is usually not allowed to sell their product cheaper than the label does to prevent competition between the two. The thing is, if enough people buy from amazon, amazon will order more cds to have some ready to ship. So this can turn out more lucrative for the musician in certain situations. But generally buying directly from the musician is your best bet if you want him to be able to afford some food. ;) Source: experience
So, at 6:57, did someone just say, "F***"? Sang the wrong note or something? Hey Bob, my friend's a big fan of yours. I told him I'm more of a Chris (Bullock) guy, but now I'm starting to see why he likes your playing so much. :)
Wow, that's so cool! Very interesting! So, for instance, Michael League write the some, give it to you on GarageBand or another program, and he'll just have played or recorded a rough version on keyboard, etc, something like that? Then you guys just basically listen and translate it to your horns?
I like how the violin is part of the horn section
timing and syncopation is unreal with these guys. they memorize that quickly
Yeah, session muso level. It's kinda expected of them but still, it's unreal. o_O
instablaster.
As a miserable music reader as I am, it is amazing to see this « paperless » process. Thanks for sharing.
Hellz yeah, two videos in the same week.
Loving these. Fascinating to see the Snarky Puppy learning process. Learning and recording two songs a day that you've never heard. True pros. And great touch to include the Larnell laser eyes!
I'm so glad your headphones stayed on for this one
solfege with friends must be the most fun and useful thing to do with bandmates. I love to do and see awesome musicians doing it!
I love how Justin has the horns and bass and guitars switch lead lines.
That's some outside the box clever shit..
You guys figuring out the parts together on the fly like that was so cool! A vlog where all you guys talk about that process and your chemistry would be awesome!
I like this. Things musicians do - singing along to the melody to register it to their brains. Awesome stuff!
That solo is so dope I thought there was no way it was a one shot improved solo, and of course you proved me wrong.
If you want to line up the solo video with the album recording here's the timestamps..
Vid above solo starts: 4:25
Album recording solo starts: 1:46
Nice

Such a great album!! Loved the live performance of Chonks
Oh man! That solo!🔥
This if FABULOUS Bob. Thanks for sharing. :-)

Awesome, Alex! See you there.
Havent stopped listening since it came out. Been alternating between this and Ventura by Anderson.Paak
Hey Bob, could you do a video on receiving compliments? On a completely separate note I think you’re fantastic.
Did I already tell you that I love that shirt ( i have the grey version of it).... so Derek my boyfriend who is a drummer are discussing if it shouldn‘t read 40 bpm 🤪i am really looking forward to hear you play in Berlin
Please come to Sydney, Australia!!
What an amazing studio place!! Far away from al noise.
Great vlog Bob. I’m looking forward to seeing you in Southampton next month, for your masterclass and gig the following day.
Great! See ya there, Bert.
The beard is looking good man👍👍
See you in Leeds in 2 weeks time 🙂
march 15th, my birthday! Thanks for the gift video!
Question for your next Q & A. What is the musician's profit difference if a customer buys a CD on Amazon compared to musician's website?

This video is super dope, but I have to ask what camera you're using for the VLOG? The audio and video quality is spectacular.
Hey bob, I was wondering... how come Justin did not play trumpet on the recording?
Sensacional, é muito bom ver os bastidores, e ver como funcionam essas mentes maravilhosas pegando de ouvido
Nice day for a walk in the park... Unless you have to be somewhere.
Great sound, great meter, where is the rest of the band... B-)
How come you sang/practised that part at 3:42 ?? I don't hear any horns at that part in the original video.
So, at 6:57, did someone just say, "F***"? Sang the wrong note or something?
Hey Bob, my friend's a big fan of yours. I told him I'm more of a Chris (Bullock) guy, but now I'm starting to see why he likes your playing so much. :)
I need insight on the sound someone makes like 1 second into the song, who made it? Why? So many questions.
Parkour Chris the bass slide?
Hey are you coming to Kansas City in June???
bobreynoldsmusic.com/tour/
Hey Bob, you mentioned that you wrote one of the tunes on the new album a long time ago, which one would that be?
coming later in the year as a single
Is there a reason you don't rehearse and learn the material earlier?
beaut
4:42

Im in the country Europe! But also in Ireland...🤔
why are you going to sever do vouga and not lisbon?
What made you choose to record the tune with your Super Action instead of your Mark VI?
long story. will aim to address in a video soon.
Bob are u gonna play with Snarky Pups on Leopolis Jazz Fest in Ukraine?
question! is some of it written down ahead of time for you guys to read, or is it learned a lot through rote?
Nothing is written
