This way you were supposed to raise Nightmare Zero to Lv04, and by defeating that version of Nightmare Zero, you would get Zero in his black armor. In the base game, this just doesn't happen at all no matter what you do. I don't know if Zero was to be unlocked in any alternative ways aside from defeating his Nightmare counterpart. What I do know is that the Falcon Armor was supposed to be playable in all its glory, not in the half-assed way it was reimplemented in X6.

Problem is, You can only fight Level 4 Nightmare Zero when you get 5000 Nightmare Souls, but after you get 3000 Nightmare Souls you're given access to Gate's lab, replacing the Nightmare Zero fight with the Dynamo fights locking you out of fighting Nightmare Zero and getting Black Zero, so it's impossible to fight Lv.4 Nightmare Zero.
