I remember in the 1970s riding ski lift up to Oz in North Carolina. I had always wanted to go zip lining, so I finally went when I was 70! It was amazing!
Definitely never go too fast down an alpine slide! I've flipped over on one of those before, and I was really lucky I only got really scraped-up elbows and knees.
I went up when i was 14 or 15 yrs old. Fell in love with anyplace in the Smokies.. so beautiful and I think the next time we visit , we will go up the tram and see all the amazing sites up there. Never knew they had so much there.
What a fun place to come enjoy. I felt sorry for the bears😫They need to be in the wild.i hope to get there sometime! Thank you Jacob for the great video
Jake ziplining looks faster and scarier than it is. You do the mountain coaster things, you'd have no issues at all ziplining. Great video, I've not been there in 2 decades!
Come to lake placid, they have a MTN coaster, bobsledding, and luge open to the public. Olympic tracks and mtn. Lake Placid NY, and next door is a quaint town called Saranac Lake, with a massive hotel as the center piece. Great fishing area, if you’re into that. A lot of mom and pop shops. Look into it. It’s right up your ally.
Morning Jacob 🤓📸 good to see u on this morning. Classic attraction rides, thanks for sharing this. I see that Jenn is not with you for today's video. Take care.
Thanks for the update! I went to Gatlinburg a few years ago for my brothers 21st birthday and we loved Ober mountain. Even just using the tram as transportation to downtown from our cabin in the mountains was amazing 🥰🐻
I've only been to Gatlinburg once as a young child in the 80s. Oddly enough, on of the things I remember being strangely fascinated by were the signs for Ober-Gatlinburg. I remember looking out of the car window at night seeing all these fantastical signs and just wondering what this mysterious place was.
I have vague memories of the Wisconsin Dells Xanadu way back in the early '90s as a child and realize that I've also been to Ober Gatlinburg around that time as well growing up.
Man I love it up on ober! Alpine slide has always been my fav up there ever since a kid! Like u said that retro vibe. Dude u gotta go full throttle! Omg was so funny when u were on the bumper ice cars n u were like oh look someone spinning... Let's bump em! Bwaaahah!!!
A great place! We had a bogo from super savers So much fun! The rides were great The view from the zip line platform is spectacular Glad you were able to show how neat Ober is! Thanks Jacob
Hi Jacob, I last saw Gatlinburg on my honeymoon in April of 1965. It was very different way back then and I remember taking chair lift there and looking through the stationary binoculars to look down on the town. Hubby would have loved your videos of our honeymoon place.
I grew up close by when it opened. It originally had a Hauf Brau House, skiing and the alpine slide. And, that was it to my memory. I do remember the foam house I was fascinated by the champagne bed and black oak kitchen cabinets.
Hi Jacob ty so much for such a fun video 😊. You make my day. I wish you would have bought that yetti for Jen lol 😅 I get so much pleasure from watching your videos. Thank you for sharing your fun times.
I didn’t do the Xanadu in gatlinburg, but I did see the one in Orlando The new observation deck at the top of the scenic chairlift is a nice improvement.
The mountains look so gorgeous at night. ♥ Sorry you didn't get to ride the coaster this time, but keep up the positive attitude and you'll absolutely get to ride it next time. : )
There's a magazine called REMIND that features roadside attractions that no longer exist. It featured Xanadu a few months ago and also featured Fort Dells. Every month, there is a different article with pictures and stories about the attraction. I went to the one in the Dells as a kid, too.
I rode that alpne slide about 25 years ago.I liked it way better than the Anakeesta which is short and goes the opposite direction as most coasters go up then down.Jacob,I know you grew up north where it's cold and has ice.I figured you had skated as a kid.
Awesome video! I loved the animals! That slide was crazy! I might go here with my mom and dad next week! Depends on what we do! But this was really cool! Too bad you didn’t get on the Mountain Coaster! That looked really cool! Well, thanks for sharing! Have a great day!
I saw tons of bald eagles when I was in Alaska cruise back in 2018. You have to go to Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay, and Ketchikan. Hope you had a great time at Ober Mountain Jacob!
I could see the bears from the tram car, but they did just look like black dots, even when you zoomed in. I'm always happy to see raccoons, as the raccoon is my spirit animal, and Casper was off the charts adorable. Also: Team car about to go over the highest tower. Jacob: Here we go... Random guy in background: Oh s#*@t!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I used to go to action Park that was the most dangerous amusement park ever . It was Run by teenagers it was so much fun. The Alpine slide was so much fun people smashing into from behind at a high rate of speed it was so much fun it was a free for all one kid died on it slammed into a boulder. People wouldn’t even put the brakes on their Alpine slides. They would just go full force. And I was one of them if you didn’t come out of there with at least half your skin missing from the slide you didn’t do it, right. There’s a Netflix movie about action Park. It’s actually worth the watch. It’s called class action Park. The lawsuits were insane.
With the alpine slides some of them have nylon runners as the brake which kind of lift the cart up if you pull back far enough. The wheels are usually rubber so you will slide little if at all in the corners. You don't want to go around them super fast but at the speed you travel being on the brake lightly if at all will probably feel more stable for you. My brother slid up the corner heavy on the brakes when we were kids and I was going faster but not on the brakes. I never really paid much attention until that happened.
When we went up to anakeesta, the lady on the chair lift in front of us had a panic attack about half way down. When she got off, they had to attend to her. My husband went and got her a bottle of water and stayed with her and her son until she was ok.
I love Ober Gatlinburg (Mountain), but I don't know about getting in that packed tram car 😂 I'm claustrophobic and scared of heights. The last time I went was in 2016 and I think it was maybe a third as full as yours!
They need to make that bear enclosure better. It’s almost as sad as it was in the early 2000s, the last time I went. They could take a note from Grandfather Mountain, Mildred the bear has a beautiful enclosure. I highly recommend going there.
Last year was the year of the carousel. This year is the pressed penny. Any thoughts on next year's theme? I can't wait to find out! I appreciate everything you do to support all these attractions. Without you to document this, there would be a hole in the american culture that people rarely see.
2025 should be the year of the fridge magnet
YES!
I was the attendant at the bumper cars telling you how to get in!! -Thenise 😁 It was so nice to meet you!!
Wow you actually met the guy
I remember in the 1970s riding ski lift up to Oz in North Carolina.
I had always wanted to go zip lining, so I finally went when I was 70! It was amazing!
It was a pleasure to meet you
Super cool to finally meet him I bet. That's awesome
@@TheCarpetbagger you rock Jacob!
Also, yes I went to Xanadu right there in Gatlinburg as a child. Blew my mind back then.
I TOOK PEOPLE UP AND DOWN OBER GATLINBURG IN 2004 I HAD FUN WITH THE PEOPLE I MET 😁
I seen u last Thursday but couldn't get over to say hello. Hope to catch u on the next trip
also at Ober Mountain, free wristband with military ID :)
I saw two bald eagles just sitting on our street in Florida like I don’t know we had bald eagles here. I guess we do.
Definitely never go too fast down an alpine slide! I've flipped over on one of those before, and I was really lucky I only got really scraped-up elbows and knees.
Love the skunk story. Jacob is the nicest man…😊
I went up when i was 14 or 15 yrs old. Fell in love with anyplace in the Smokies.. so beautiful and I think the next time we visit , we will go up the tram and see all the amazing sites up there. Never knew they had so much there.
Looks like a fantastic place to visit
That old school chair lift was so cool! I love anything old school

I loved Ober Mountain when I was there!

Ober Mountain looks like such a great time. Might have to plan on a trip soon.

Yet another great day out !!! It was nice to see the changes..XXX
Have a great day, Jacob ❤

A great place!
We had a bogo from super savers
So much fun!
The rides were great
The view from the zip line platform is spectacular
Glad you were able to show how neat Ober is!
Thanks Jacob
Took that ride way back in 82
Tried skating once as a preteen. Two black eyes later....no more.
Could 2025 be the year of the buildable souvenir collection? The brick ones, the wooden ones, the little metal ones...
I loved the Xanadu House in Wisconsin Dells so much!!! That was my dream house.
I loved Xanadu. For the longest time, I was trying to remember where it was located in Gatlinburg. Thanks for the info.
Oh my gosh!! What fun!!❤
No doubt about it ... that view you had at the very top, is worth visiting Ober again. ;-)
Love some good old Ober Gatlinburg. Did they get rid of the classic arcade and shooting gallery? Those were my favourite!
Hi Jacob, I last saw Gatlinburg on my honeymoon in April of 1965. It was very different way back then and I remember taking chair lift there and looking through the stationary binoculars to look down on the town. Hubby would have loved your videos of our honeymoon place.
Well hello carbagger it's amazing to see you're amazing video today have a wonderful day
I’m glad they added more to do besides the alpine slide and arcade machines. Years ago I was about the only person going up. Nice!
I do miss the old vintage arcade machines
The best bear interaction was at the bear place in Helen GA
Great video, Jacob. Love the bears 🐻. Till the next one, take care my friends and as always safe travels.
I grew up close by when it opened. It originally had a Hauf Brau House, skiing and the alpine slide. And, that was it to my memory. I do remember the foam house I was fascinated by the champagne bed and black oak kitchen cabinets.
Awesome video as always Jacob beautiful view
Really nice of you to walk right in front of the others waiting to get on the tram at the end.
Saw Xanadu with my dad in Gatlinburg and it is interesting to see what is there today!
Good morning Jacob watching you from Cathlamet WA state
Good Morning Jacob 🙋🏽.
Casper is adorable!!
Liked the zoo the best.
They have a slide like this in north conway nh and I remember as a kid a guy flying off the track and broke his arm
"My name is Ron. You guys were great and I was awesome." 😂 Skytramdriver is funny.
Funny to see him ride the little pony 😂
Hi Jacob ty so much for such a fun video 😊. You make my day. I wish you would have bought that yetti for Jen lol 😅 I get so much pleasure from watching your videos. Thank you for sharing your fun times.
I never put my brakes on one time going down the Alpine slide come on carpetbagger you can do it
I love your channel. I follow you, and watch you daily. Keep up the good work!!!❤
I didn’t do the Xanadu in gatlinburg, but I did see the one in Orlando The new observation deck at the top of the scenic chairlift is a nice improvement.

Over crowded train; all aboard 😂
The mountains look so gorgeous at night. ♥ Sorry you didn't get to ride the coaster this time, but keep up the positive attitude and you'll absolutely get to ride it next time. : )
Greetings from Poteet Texas and thanks for another great video.

Adam the WOO is there now. He finally made it to all 50 states amd his videos are super exciting and landscapes are glorious !!!
We were eating in Bennett bbq ,when one came trough the parking lot
Smashing pumpkins like the band.
I could see the bears from the tram car, but they did just look like black dots, even when you zoomed in. I would love too go too over mountain it looks like fun I have been too tennsee before I would love too go back
Gotta try this
I'm pretty sure the bears habitats were trashed by the hurricane as well. They're just looking for food and somewhere safe.
Do you think that the wild bears come by and make fun of the bears in the zoo?
Xanadu, yep! I remember going there Wi Dells

Terrifying to have this much control 😂

Jacob I’m afraid of heights and I love Ziplines
I used to ice skate there in the 80s but in around 2015 I went up there and rode the Mountain coaster and I loved it Have fun.
FYI, Instead of taking the tram you can just drive to the top. That tram ain't cheap.
I wad able to go into the Xanadu in Orlando a long time ago.
Danny ❤❤❤🎉🎉😊
you should do a fontanna dam / deals gap video
why did you get on that mini carousel 42:00 lol that was pretty strange
That’s so sweet that you helped the skunks cross the street 🥹
Hey Jacob 👋
There is a big population of bears in Gatlinburg Tennessee. They are in the top 10.
I was at the one in Wisconsin Dells
one. I was about 17, I think. Now I'm old.
I was very little probably in elementary school when I visited
DO YEAR OF THE FRIDGE MAGNET LIKE SOMEONE MENTIONED, YOU CAN GET SHEETS OF METAL TO HANG ON THE WALL TO STICK MORE ON, AND FRAME IT
I love Ober Gatlinburg (Mountain), but I don't know about getting in that packed tram car 😂 I'm claustrophobic and scared of heights. The last time I went was in 2016 and I think it was maybe a third as full as yours!

I’m still trying to figure that out
fridge magnets are pretty cool, you can get sheets of metal to hang on the wall and stick em to it
