This line here really sinks in and cuts deep and makes me feel sorry for Mal like her dad left when she was born and her mother raised her harshly and viciously to be evil and didn’t love her at all only using her to get what she wanted so Mal admitting she doesn’t know what love feels like is heartbreaking and crucial because she doesn’t know what love is because she’s never had it or felt it like she lived her whole life trying to please her mother and make her proud of her so that she’d one day actually show that she loved her but it was never enough and Mal was always a disappointment to her mother no matter what she did Maleficent even made this clear when she yelled at Mal saying “you have no room for love in your life!” At bens coronation because it’s what she had decided for her daughter and felt like Mal didn’t need Ben or deserve to love him and she wasn’t going to give her daughter love plus Mal’s father had never been around either and so she never really had any parental figure to look up to or be there for her but I wouldn’t say that Hades never loved her because as Mal grew up Hades watched her grow up from afar and always asked Celia about her when she’d come to work for Hades so in his own way he did love his daughter he just wasn’t ready to be a dad and couldn’t be with Maleficent any longer due to how cold and manipulated that she was and Maleficent wasn’t the easiest to get along with as Hades had told Mal also he felt like she held him back from his own goals and couldn’t handle how wicked Maleficent was.
Honestly poor Mal until she met Ben she never felt any sort of happiness or even any sort of love either but she was lucky that Ben accepted her for who she was and opened his heart to Mal because without Ben I don’t think Mal would’ve turned good so in a way Ben saved her from becoming evil and his love for her was her ticket to a better life which she always wanted and he gave her a chance to find love and actually be happy ❤
Wow that was an amazing comment you wrote about Mal I mean I was so impressed as I was reading it. I do agree with Mal didn’t know what love is and Ben taught her about love which touched my heart because it was beautiful.
