    This song was included for study at Sydney's Conservatory of music..
    This next text is clipped from Metal Storm
    "Australian metallers Ne Obliviscaris have seen their song "And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope" from their debut album Portal Of I included in a teaching curriculum at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, one of Australia's most prestigious classical Conservatories. The song will undergo a compositional analysis by Professor Matthew Hindson, Chair of Composition at the Conservatorium. "And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope" will be studied as part of the curriculum.
    Matthew Hindson is a renowned classical composer whose works have been performed by ensembles and orchestras throughout the world.
    Professor Hindson commented: "I will be presenting 'And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope' to the composition students at the Conservatorium next semester as an exemplar in structure, mixing timbres, meters, modes, how to approach virtuosity, sound and noise, extended performance and techniques. The students will need to study 2 technical aspects of what Ne Obliviscaris have done in their music, and then use these techniques in their own classical music compositions."
    The Professor continues: "It is my pleasure to introduce such high quality music making to our students, alongside other music by composers including Beethoven, Gershwin, Steve Reich and Peter Sculthorpe. Musicians deserve to hear the music of Ne Obliviscaris, and the music of many other metal bands, in order to appreciate the compositional complexity that lies within it, no matter what their musical tastes."
    So..as you can see they are amazing

    He's Shakin' it, man! Just shakin' because he's having such a good time. Cut the man some slack. First big recording show in the US, and the man wants to shake it. SHAKE IT! When you got chops, you can shake it how you want.

    I always get a kick out of (no pun intended) how the drummer is playing a blast and a shuffle at the same time at the end of this song.

    I love this song so much. Other NEO songs that I recommend are the typical bigger hits in "Intra venus"(there is an officel music video), and "Devour Me Colossus, (Part I): Black holes"(there is a drum cam one, from the same show you just watched. Search for "Dan Presland - Ne Obliviscaris - Devour Me / Colossus Part 1 - Blackholes" The drums are slightly overpowering in the production but it was honestly the best sound I managed to find with some kind of video, in my short look around. Alternativly you can just go with an audio version from their album). The drummer Dan Presland has is own youtube channel where i do playthrue of their songs amongst others(and the name of his channel is his name).

    Dan Presland is a god of drums, period. Ne Obliviscaris is one of the few bands I pre-order anything they publish, they can do shopinglist if they want (Fallujah is the other...) :D
    If I can suggest two tracks - Devour me Colossus from Ne Obliviscaris (unfortunately there isn't a good live version on YT, but Dan Preslands studio playthrough is very good), and Amber Gaze from Fallujah, I'm realy interested in your reactions.

    This band is an absolute piece of art.
    Their most beautiful song (to me) is "As Icicles Falls"
    Try : Rivers of Nihil - The Silent Life

    first off thanks for checking out one of my favourite bands!
    second...I cannot unsee Dan as Wash now. Yeah, mega Alan Tudyk vibes - I also like how some describe the lead singers as Jesus and Satan on stage.
    I first saw these guys years back, when they opened for Soil Work. I had no idea who they were at the time, but loved the sound and have followed them since!

    The hash singer (Xen) is heavily influenced by Black metal. Xen and Tim(violin) are founding members of the band.
    The guitars are eq’d in a way with less gain bc they are playing full complex chords. They want those note articulations to come out otherwise with full gain(distortion) maxed out, it would sound like shit. The guitarists run their sound through Fractal Axe FX and direct to PA. They bypass the amp cabs and play with in-ear monitors.
    Amazing band, especially live. Dan Presland(drums) has his own UA-cam play throughs as well as Cygnus(bass)

  • @Equilibrium2903

    To clear up why the guitars are not distorted the classic metal way: They both play full complex chords. If they had used full gain on them it would have sounded like random noise, instead of like this where we can actually hear the full articulation of the notes. Great video as always, and yes, the drummer definitely looks like Wash from Firefly.

    There are a lot of cool songs like this but kinda think it's bad when overshadowed by almost non-stop drums
    One of the more interesting songs in which the melody is driven almost entirely by singers I can think of ATM:Der Tanz der Schaten, Theater of Tragedy :)
    Would also suggest a couple of other bands but then might not be as appropriate for a drum channel
    The ones that I have on the top of my head are:
    Be'lakor (countless skies)
    Delain (masters of destiny)
    Those are all stylish/reverse songs in which the guitar is more of a support role as opposed to leading the band and the vocals is setting up the tone of everything
    Also, Distant Dream are an interesting band, quite different, almost everything is played by guitars (both rhythm and melody) but doesn't sound dominative :)

    Im pretty sure the bass player was convicted for domestic violence and was kicked out of the band, pretty ironic considering your initial impression of him

      Not convicted but he fought back against his mother who has physically and sexually abused him for years. Regardless, he needed help and acknowledged his violent behaviours, to seek help.

    Why people continue to request this live version.. sure it’s great but the studio version is far superior. The live video offers too many distractions.. nonetheless, still a great reaction. Thank you

    • @cooltechnician
      @cooltechnician 2 роки тому

      It’s because the studio versions are usually mastered in a way that you don’t get every instrument but right here you cab clearly see and listen to what all of them virtuosos are doing, the studio version doesn’t do anything to me,, but I guess it’s just a case of preferences

    • @christopherjohn84
      @christopherjohn84 2 роки тому

      @@cooltechnician yeah I respect your opinion/point of view. I guess the studio was how it was intended to be heard. That’s why I feel it’s the better to react to. Plus the engineering of the studio actually offers more when it comes to the subtleties of instruments
