- After months of planning and years of research, it was the greatest feeling in the world to start using renewable energy in my home. In this video I break down the cost of my 10KW solar setup, share more details about solar inverters and take you through the whole process as promised in part one of this series.

I really like the fact that they did the wiring neatly, installed boxes evenly and level.... I would definitely get these guys to install solar in my house in Lahore. IA ....... I hate sloppy work, with loose wires and a junky look.... ughhhh!!!

MashaAllah. Congratulations on successfully installing and using the solar panels. I am presently staying in Malaysia where most house roof tops have a frame and tiles on them which do get damaged and blown off due to strong winds and thunderstorms. I feel your whole strucure has a large surface area like aeroplane wing and is vulnerable to extreme weather. my 2 cents.

Masha Allah Bahut Acha system Hai I installed a basic system in 2015 which only runs 1 Ac 1 fridge TV and all my fans and lights and i've seen massive saving on my Bills it has cut my cost of bill by 60% the only time i'm using Wapda is for Back up for Charging my system

Neat and professional job. I would recommend to add AFDD with system to provide additional protection in case of lose connection somewhere in the wiring.

You have literally made a large aeroplane wing. It should be closest to the floor and there should be many gaps between panels so the wind seeps through between panels. That way it won’t put too much pressure on structures and panels.

Bills after installation
One thing that you should have considered is distance between lines of solar panels. Sometimes there comes dust onto the panels which reduces its efficiency.

Setup cost for '20 kwh' system (with net metering, i.e., no batteries) shared in comment replies by @Samina Anjum. (The per watt cost of panels may have gone up but that is one component in overall setup).
Here is her comment,
"Few months ago,we went to a solar company for installation of 20kwh system but they asked 18-20 lac for it..
Then someone suggested us to buy these components my your own.
We installed our whole system by our ownselves for 12 lac and saved 6lac
Here’s the total cost:
Panels:20kw(Canadian solar 39/watt monoperc =780000
Inverter 22kw on net(solis with 5 years of replacement )=235000
Cables,lightning arrester,ac/dc earthing=29000
Breakers and surg current protection devices=30000
Frame with automatic cleaning system with water=130000
Net metering charges= roundabout 30000
Total=1234000
Now be honest, are these solar companies not looting us?"

By the way, if a company installs a system in 13,00,000 to 13,50,000 that actually costs 12,00,000, then it's a fair deal, but if the difference is like 4 to 5 lakh or more, then it is looting for sure.

Installation companies may not be "looting" you exactly.
They have lots and lots of cost to cover. There is a cost of running business, paying employees, paying taxes, putting a value put to their time and make some profit to take home.
This is how economy runs. Money should be circulated. So instead of defaming the installation companies by calling them looters, you can perhaps say, "Talk to your installer and see if they are open to negotiate on the installation price".
It’s called circular economy not looting man ! In west Cost of labour /services is more than equipment cost ? All are they looting ? Pakistani make comparison with develop countries but when it comes to pay them behave greedily !

Very well made video. Really liked the cost breakdown of the entire solar setup. Only thing that I would like to add is that maybe if you can also discuss the timeframe of the whole installation of solar panels. As in like from the moment you decided to have solar panels to the moment that they were finally installed. How long each step took. Maybe you could include this in the future video.
Good idea Husnain! Honestly it varies from installer to installer but my set up took around 2 months. That’s because there were multiple vendors and I had other construction going on at the same time.

Very impressive! How long do the batteries last once fully charged? Assuming there's no grid power after sunset, can the system provide electricity (moderate- heavy use) till next day, when the sun is back up again and recharging the batteries?

Phoenix TX1800 ka bara nam suna tha, ap ne os ki jaga volta kyun lia? 1 suggestion hai k batteries k drmiyaan thora space rakhnay se heat 1 battery se dosray mai transfer nhi ho gi. Abi to ap ne batteries lay li hain lakin agr ap k pas 3 phase hai to net metering k liye foran application frward kr dain.

For safety & protection from lightning surge protection devices must be installed....& For human safety from Electrical shock or from short circuit ..ELCB/RCCB devices should be install with Every branch .
