    Back in November of 2022 Frontier Airlines had an offer for their Go Wild Pass, unlimited air travel except for some blackout dates domestically for $599. Shortly after we made the purchase they raised the price and included International flights. The requirements were you could only book 1 day in advance for domestic and 10 days for international and the pass would not be valid until May 2022.
    In May of 2023 Frontier allowed Go Wild Pass holders to book travel using the pass until September 2023. We got right online and booked flights for a cruise we had planned in August from Seattle and also for flights back from NYC as we had a trip planned to London and needed a flight back to the West Coast from New York.
    We have also flown to Costa Rica booking 10 days in advance. We purchased a domestic flight 24 hours prior to departure to connect with an international flight we had booked 8 days prior in order to fly to Costa Rica from California via Atlanta. Then we booked a return Costa Rica to Atlanta flight 10 days prior to our leaving Costa Rica. We then had to book a flight from Atlanta back to California 14 hours prior to leaving Atlanta.
    Total cost to fly to Costa Rica per person from California:
    Ontario to Atlanta with a 5-hour layover in Vegas: $29.81
    Atlanta to Costa Rica: $48.29
    Costa Rica to Atlanta: $80.30
    Atlanta to Ontario: $14.89
    Total round trip 1 person: $173.31

    Good advice. I just bought gowild for May 24-25. I'm lucky enough to live in Cancún and hope to use it a few times. I got it on promo @$499. I hope it gets me to my grandchildren a couple times minimum with Guatemala and Costa Rica, too.

    I am using it a lot too. A situation that might happen to you very soon, and it has already happened to me, is having my seat in a late night flight with the Go Wild Pass and suddenly they cancel the flight with no explanations given ( Frontier is notorious for cancelling lots of flights).... then you are screwed big time. In my case I had to book a flight on Southwest and pay full fare because I did not want to wait 24 hours until the next flight the following day and pay for a hotel (Frontier will not pay for the hotel).

      I’ve heard about some cancelations hoping that doesn’t happen. We have been doing some travel hacking with credit cards collecting points in case we need last minute rooms. Our last room for our overnight layover in Atlanta was only 5k points. :)

    Thanks for the info. Does Frontier offer vouchers for accommodations when there's an overnight layover?

    • @OurMidlifeVan
      @OurMidlifeVan  11 місяців тому +1

      Our 1 true overnight layover which was on one confirmation we did not get any vouchers for accommodations. When we booked though it was highlighted the long travel time and +1 day arrival.

    We've successfully booked a weekend trip to Mexico with our Go Wild Pass! Now, I'm trying to book to Costa Rica from 7/10-7/14. I can't find a return flight though, so I've been flexible on our destination. Even trying Dominican Republic. Do you guys advise booking as One way flights?

    • @OurMidlifeVan
      @OurMidlifeVan  11 місяців тому

      We book one way flights because it’s the same price as round trip. When we visited Costa Rica in June there was only flights on Thursday’s and Mondays so we chose to stay a week. Safe travels.

    I have had this pass since May and cannot find a flight that can work for me!!! Are there really any tickets available? I'm in NYC (LGA)

      I think LGA a harder but there is a flight tomorrow night to Miami for $15.

    I hadn't had any flight we wanted blocked until this past week and there are alot now. I see why people in big cities were complaining they cant get flights. Next week seems tight domestic a d open international and i expected the opposite. Another thing is elite stretch seating is starting to be blocked.

    • @OurMidlifeVan
      @OurMidlifeVan  11 місяців тому

      Yes yesterday the black out dates started for 4th of July travel making it hard this week and next week.

    • @OurMidlifeVan
      @OurMidlifeVan  11 місяців тому +1

      We have only been able to get elite seats on checkin when there was availability. Just one of our flights last month didn’t have two seats together for elite stretch seating.

    • @RA-fm8wr
      @RA-fm8wr 11 місяців тому

      I haven't looked at blackout dates. It's open dates and with lots of seats open next day. Definitely a capacity strategy on Frontiers part. I have 100k but they block stretch at booking and check in alot. I can see because it allowed them for cash price. I never expected every flight to be included but elite is elite and stretch shouldn't be blocked

    My biggest concern is getting back home!! You can only book one way, right? Have you or anyone else you know been stranded at your destination? What did that look like? Is there some kind of travel insurance you use?

    • @OurMidlifeVan
      @OurMidlifeVan  8 місяців тому +1

      We have not been stranded so far. Sometime, some flights Frontier lets you book the return in advance. Last week we booked a return from Chicago to California a week in advance but it cost us $14 more to purchase in advance. Worth it for the piece of mind. Some people book refundable back flights on airlines such as Southwest. We haven't done this as our time is really flexible. Also we do have travel insurance but it wouldn't cover not having a flight home just covers delayed and cancelled fights.

    Are you allowed to book RT 24 hour at the same time ?

    • @OurMidlifeVan
      @OurMidlifeVan  11 місяців тому +1

      If the last flight of the round trip is 1 day in advance yes. Of the return flight is 2 day or more then you can not do round trip you have to book the return later.

    How often have your flights been canceled? Or delayed

    • @OurMidlifeVan
      @OurMidlifeVan  8 місяців тому +1

      We have never had a cancel flight. We have had some delays mostly in Las Vegas and all but one was a late night red eye flight. The longest delay was the one we had mid day on a Saturday out of Las Vegas it was just over 2 hours.
