MPJ was brought in the league as a scorer. Players that start from being defenders and flourishing to becoming a scorer makes them more valuable in any team.
he has been a valuable rebounder
@@sharp2.080yes indeed
Yet he ain't scoring in the finals.
There aren’t many that start out as a defender first. all NBA players were their school’s go-to guys.
@@DubCmusicTV Yeah exactly, is easier to teach defence and effort they need legit talent. Even Tony Allen had a whole lot of offensive talent pre nba
I know he’s been in the league for a few years now but I still think MPJ is kinda struggling to accept his role on the team. Think about it he was one of the top guys coming out of both high school and college so he kinda came in prolly thinking he’d be like a number 1 or 2 option but because of injuries and because jokic and Murray has flourished so much he’s found himself being a third option sometimes even a 4th option when Gordon has it going. So I think he’s struggling to come to terms with the fact that he went from being a big time scorer to more of a complimentary piece to a team
While you're right bout everything u wrote. There needs to be a maturity from him or guidance from vets to let him there are 2 guys here we go to. Yes he signed a max extension but that was more of hype and no one else will come to Denver. Even tho he came into the league as top prospect he fell down in the draft due to his injury and it keeps flaring up so it could be chronic. Bball is a two way sport so he needs to be effective on both sides if he's a 3rd or 4th option. With the new cba starting next season if he doesn't improve on both sides then idk who will sign him.
Headcases in the NBA are the hardest to come to the realization that they have to change....especially shooters. Once you become one, it's more difficult to overcome than a physical injury...ask Metta World Peace. Ask Ja Morant in a few months...or years.
I agree wholeheartedly with this. He definitely bouncing after his contract his up, that's if they don't trade him first. He has to straighten up his attitude though or he is just going to be on a losing team wherever he goes.
Probably why he doesn’t pass the rock 😂 man is trying to get his numbers up so he can get a bigger contract elsewhere
On some nights, he’s given the green light offensively. But Malone is going to the well with a back to back MVP and his second best player. It’s working well for them, no changes needed with the gameplan. However if Porter does continue to struggle, I can see them start Bruce Brown in his place
Honestly mpj is almost like rook he’s been hurt so much. He will grow maybe take away some minutes for the finals but he will grow.
He's ass sorry
199 million dollar bum is what he is … all these bums should shine Jokers shoes he’s carrying scrubs 😂😂😂
He's on his 2nd contract, that's not an excuse anymore.
Idk he’s played 3 seasons over 50 games and then add on the playoffs to that. He’s not a rookie lmao. He probably will always struggle defending. He just doesn’t have a bunch of basketball iq at all tbh which is his problem. Physically, being 6’10 playing the 3 is gonna give him limitations cause he’s just too big. But his iq is really what gets him cooked.
@@dkmrap1 he literally just came off another back surgery?
Did he explain why he's struggling? No.
he need to play better defense...i'm not even a sports fan n I caught that
@@CrownePri
Again, did he explain why he's struggling? No.
@@budstopseasyroadspence bruh I already told you I'm not a sports fan, if he's playing poor defense ain't it, I don't care
"Ive noticed him giving more effort in the defensive end. I appreciate that" proceeds to breakdown his lack of effort on d. and then completely forgets why he brought up mpj having shooting struggles lol
@@HaruTch4303
Dray ain't the problem, the problem is whoever that clearly mislabeled this video lol.
For him I’m not sure if it’s an effort thing. I just think he doesn’t know what to do on defense. His mind just isn’t moving quick enough
Sure but you make it sound like he is terrible defensively in this play offs. As someone who watches regular season MPJ, I'd say this is more than Denver fans could ask for (defensively).
@@denizgoktas116 right
Low-key could be all his back surgeries. There's a stiffness about his game, even on offense.
@@hacimdoowlla2730 I’ve noticed that as well he definitely struggles with athleticism and movement
@@denizgoktas116 I watched a lot of Denver. I think he’s been alright defensively. There are just times where he freezes instead of reacting
I think this point is overlooked a great deal in the playoffs as we've seen many perimeter shooters go cold because they're expending more energy then they're used to on the defensive end. Meanwhile, the experts say they're in a 'rut' or a 'slump' when in fact they might be sacrificing their own scoring for the betterment of the team. The difference is that Porter isn't always giving that max effort to justify his mins and thus a younger guy like Braun can steal the opportunity and his minutes.
Facts! This is actual analysis nba coaches and players are doing and thinking about. Bruce and Braun playing outside themselves isn’t really something you can plan for. Tip your cap type shit. The brown and Braun law firm haha
I always said if MPJ is able to become a serviceable two player this team instantly becomes much more dangerous and a dynasty instantly becomes more realistic and Denver would be the favorite coming out the west for years to come. If he improves his defense and works on his basketball iq he would become the second most valuable player on the squad and raise their ceiling even higher.
I agree. Give him one more year but if he don’t improve trade him
2nd? Over jamal murray?? Lmaoooo. 3rd at best
Murray is better.
basically a kawhi type of role
DG knows his stuff his BBALL IQ is very impressive. He will make a great future coach
Or punch his team😂. Being a great coach is not all about basketball IQ
@@gregsengcorner23 bro what?
If MPJ keeps up his lackadaisical play especially on the defensive end, Christian Braun might take his spot in the starting lineup.

Jimmy Butler is shooting 40% when guarded by MPJ

Crazy ass hell he 6’10
Y’all be saying anything on this btc😭😂🤦🏾
He's actually giving a lot of effort on defense i don't what finals your watching.
Michael 'Harrison Barnes' Porter Jr
In very few words, MPJ is just soft. The tape shows me that and I’ve found myself, though not a Denver fan, screaming at the TV particularly during the Lakers series because he was just “THERE”. No vigor, enthusiasm, tenacity, toughness or willingness to do anything aside from score. Offensively he’s soft. He lingers around the perimeter and while he’s a solid shooter when in rhythm, he settles far too much. With his height, length and athleticism, there’s no reason whatsoever that he can’t be a dynamic two way player. Maybe the back injuries haunt him mentally and he’s trying to stretch out his career for as long as he can, so he goes half speed, but it’s inexcusable. If he rounded into his full potential, I’d say Denver are series threats to become the next dynasty, but it’ll hinge on him and whether Denver continues to stick with him.
He’s too good of a player to be disengaged at key times and too valuable to just be “Out There” hooping.
Apparently the Lakers have put an offer in to trade him for Lebron!
What i want that Dray explain is what J Poole told him that made him punch so hard that send GS back to the rebuild age
Or y draymond can’t average more than 7 points
@@beankobe8205that’s easy he’s just not good at anything on offense except playmaking
@@JayD73 he is not good at play making .curry and klay just run through screens until they get a open shot.
@@beankobe8205 nah man that’s just objectively wrong and every nba coach says so and I don’t even like draymond. He has good instincts and he makes the right pass not just to curry and Klay but the whole team
@@JayD73 bro he got two of the best shooters in the nba on his team . Curry is 45 in all time assist, draymond not even close 🤦🏼♂️. Stop making shit up
Michael Porter Jr is completely unplayable
mr. triple single talking!
Around the start somewhere in game 3 he was just looking when Jamal took a 3, not crashing the board for a rebound. Even though it was wide open for him to do so. He missed and MPJ would have gotten the bounce and a free layup. Just crazy low effort in such an important game.
People expect too much from MPJ... Acting like the dude is supposed to be Brandon Ingram out there or someone with that type of potential. He's not that dude. He doesn't really have a strong offensive game outside his ability to catch and shoot relatively quickly with good enough accuracy. But if he goes cold from outside, like he has in this series, and often times tends to do for stretches during the year, he doesn't really have the tools to impact the offense in other ways. He doesn't have the on-ball creation tools, either for himself or anyone else, and he's not like Aaron Gordon, someone that can use their physicality and athleticism off ball to get in good positions around the basket and finish strong. MPJ is too weak and stiff-footed for that.
I think defensively he's much improved right now compared to what he was just a few years ago. A few seasons ago he was legit unplayable defensively, now he at least looks like he knows what to do most of the times to the point he doesn't get exposed as often.
Ultimately, i think the Nuggets realize what he is and are using him correctly. He's just not hitting his shots right now, but those shots are going to be the best shots the Nuggets offense can generate for him without compromising their primary offensive plan of playing through Jokic and Murray... It's like when JR Smith played with LeBron and Kyrie... When his shooting was cold... There wasn't much you can do to adjust... What were you gonna do, get the ball away from Bron and Kyrie and run some different sets for JR Smith? Seriously? Nah, just stand there on the 3pt line and be ready to shoot the same shots next game, and hopefully do better...
"Says this from home" 😆
Bro he’s had 3 surgeries in his lumbar spine and still playing minutes in the NBA. Most people never run or jump again after their first spine surgery. He’s in his own league and doing better than 99.9% of the nba would in his position.
The only one who really was struggling was Draymond. Backpacking 4 Rings what a career
I totally agree with Dray
MPJ needs a lot to improve defensively,if he can improve that He’ll be a great player with his size and shooting
He's still solid gee
True.
I honestly think mpj is hurt or has pain in his back. You see it in his game because he flows like a stiff robot.
It's his back!
He’s hunting rebounds
Mr triple single talking lmaoo
He’s a good young player he’s just gotta keep improving
No matter how u feel about him Draymond always on point wit da insight...
This guy seeing what others aren't
He's good at dunking on Durant though
I see them getting ridding of him now that they know what they have in Braun.
Porter did end up contributing big in the finals. He could not hit the 3, but he was vacuuming up boards and making cuts and drives for easy buckets.
He shot terrible
WHY IS GREEN Talking like he can win a finals without getting carried XD
And without draymond the warriors have no finals pls stfu
Thanks, you should be a coach
Said it before game 1. If we're gonna win this title, MPJ is gonna have to show up at least once. Not an ok game. A clutch performance.
He'll get another crack at it tonight, go Nuggets!
What are you talking about? They're still winning in spite of him. If they'd benched him sooner in Game 2, this series would've been over. MPJ shot 1-6 from Three in 26 minutes and they lost by 3 points.
@@daveclark8337 Imagine if Gordon and Brown didn't explode. That'd be a loss. He needs to step up, I am not saying he's more important than the rest of the team, I'm saying I'd be (I am) shocked that we can get past Miami with him struggling.
He should keep shooting, they'll drop if he's smart tonight and keeps cutting.
@@natecw4164 They started benching him earlier in game 3 and 4 when he wasn't playing well. If he doesn't show up in the first quarter, they'll bench him again . And if they can get a big lead, then he'll probably start to make shots because the pressure on him will be lifted. He doesn't have that dawg in him.
@@daveclark8337 He's in a funk. He's a solid player... Idk, it almost seems like there was an update with his brother or something, he's not sharp rn.
i think he is still making good choices, good runs in offence, making space for jokic passes, very active .
He has to attack the bucket when his shot is not falling with some easy looks
He would if he could. If you had as many spine surgeries as him you’d be bed ridden, and you’re saying he should be throwing his body into 7 footers gimme a break, the kid is doing his best and adapting to terrible circumstances.
Great analysis on that play in particular. MPJ’s mistake was glaring when I watched it live. Gotta be consistent with the effort on defense
Mike will be fine. Slumps happen. Over the years I’ve seen all-time great shooters like Kobe and Steph get in horrible slumps. Just last year against Utah, Curry was 5-of-20 from the field and 1-13 from deep. Mike is playing much better defense, rebounding, and driving to the hoop. His attitude is good, and that’s key.
MPJ has no mental toughness. A lot of times when he misses, he fails to run back with a purpose. Similarly, he lets offensive success dictate his efforts on defense. Braun is definitely gonna take either Pope or Porter's job real quick.
@Fahmi Aulia Rachman ....Unfortunately, this is a business first. If he's such damaged goods, it's high time they move him. The front made a mistake in giving him that rookie contract extension....
Now, it'll be extremely difficult to move him anywhere.

to a 6'10 so-called shooter, streaky at best, that has a low basketball I.Q, can't play defense, only rebounds when the ball comes to his height, and is damaged goods with 3 back surgeries at 24 years old?
@garyaugustus690 Lots of teams if anyone who knows basketball is paying attention. He's a player who needs to be the 1st, or 2nd option on a team. Not the 3rd, or 4th.
That’s why it’s called a team game, see Gordon and Brown’s contributions. They are picking up the slack as everyone goes through it.
@UNOFahmiAR Facts. Especially at a young age without yet having that success in the league. It's a lot easier to give up thinking your run is over than to keep putting in all that work to possibly just be a role player.
@Fahmi Aulia Rachman LMAO. His own coach didn't even believe in him yesterday - dude was out the majority of the 2nd half. Malone wasn't putting up with MPJ's weak ass anymore
Gimme Draymond for MPJ
He gotta stop taking so many 3s. Watching him it seems like there’s a force field around the 3 point line he can’t cross! If he took it to the rack more he would be unstoppable
MPJ is struggling with his offense, not his defense, in the NBA finals. He´s not an All-Defensive type of player right now (not sure if he will ever be) but his shooting percentages are atrocius and that´s what should be Dray's explanation. His defense is on par with what MPJ has showed all the playoffs so far.
it's same for him every season lmao

Your acting like draymond said he wouldn’t
Nah. That’s MPJ’s game. I’d rather see MPJ take a contested shot over a wide open Draymond shot. Obviously, you haven’t seen MPJ cook threes over all defenders in all angles in all difficulties all season.
It's gotta be weird going up to face dude after he just broke down your game on tv 😂
Who knows. Maybe he has some movement limitations due to those back surgeries. Maybe they have a deal that he shoots, rebounds and occasionally drive. They must (Denver) grab their head every time he falls, like that lay up in game 3. He moves really weird. It think him and they are carefull, not wanting to agrevate the back.

“But now if you look at lebron he’s a all round amazing player, both offensively and defensively”
he's garbage defensively.
Porter is slowly getting less minutes. He is not playing well and Malone is doing the right thing by benching him in the fourth.

I'm just glad Dray, his team beat yo BFF team. ⛵️
Porter JR seems fine with what he brings. He's developed a bit of a defensive game and shows you he can get rebounds. Just needs to find more of an offensive besides a 3 point jumper in the corner

He will be trade in next season
Mpj feels like hes the most talented on the team. Only reason he signed that extension cuz he knew his back was no bueno and said fuck it
Not enough credit for mike!
If Draymond Green could talk forever, he'll never explain why he's still in the paint and the refs ain't calling defensive three seconds.
Dray is a chatty patty
Since 2016 people has been saying Draymond should work in his jumpshot , and his offensive package , but he is a great player but very stubborn one, he hasnt or if he does nobody could know because he doesnt even looks at the rim , he is dead set in proving he can be a hall of famer without scoring, putting a lot of pressure on steph , when klay is off , that thing gets ugly quickly , teams playing 5 vs 4 or even 5 vs 3 if loon is on the court,, not amount of movement can work if 1 or 2 players are ignored and these dont take advantage..i did think after losing against memphis in the playing in with that awful last play where he looked that bad he could comeback better ,, NOP he is Draymond, he knows best , you would think after the celtics finals where he didnt look good at all in several of those games he could work in his game, NOP , he went to the trainning camp and beat the shit of poole trashing the team's chemistry( didnt received any punishment, the team as enabler of him gets what they allowed him to do), and this is after clashing with durant ( them blaming the team for the tension after the incident because they suspended him) , and costing the 2016 title.. Now he is blaming the youngsters of poor performance( they barely played in the playoffs) ,when he is not a 2 way player , maybe 1 1/4 way player , . what i'm saying , he still active , yes he can comment in whatever topic he wants , but after that atrocious series against the lakers , when he looked happier for lebron that bad for his team is a bad look you calling any player out even if his right..
