Hi, One solution for the coupling issue, is to fit a slightly larger coupling. There is a medium sized nem coupling which seems to sort the majority of issues. Body clips annoy me too!
Hi tried fitting larger couplings, didn't work for me and the couplings actually drooped down catching pointwork so bad it would derail itself running light engine, so I removed the useless body mounted cam mechanism and fitted the coupling to the bogies like they used to do. It will now shunt through set track points. I now avoid buying anything with body mounted couplings on bogie stock as they don't work on anything tighter than scale curves like what the vast majority probably have, unless I decide it's worth having to butcher it straight out of the box just to make it run. Incidently these cam things are not geometrically correct even when they work! Bad Hornby!
Im not the greatest Hornby fan either however light wagons are an issue full stop your dapol one proved the point when it derailed in the middle of the train! As for the electrics issue id take the bodyshell off and move it about run a few dozen times and see if anything changes.I sometimes get odd issues with.lights not turning o on my dcc version of the 60 but it always sorts itself out quickly ....just my thoughts 🙂👍
I'm with you mate. I've 3 Hornby 60s 2 with sound. They've been stored for a few years and now none of them run. I'm sure it's down to the greases used as one of my 50s and my 56 both suffered the same plight. None of my Bachmann or Heljan locos are effected despite the same length and location of storage. Really Hornby, sort your act out!
My 60 locked up the gearboxes on the axles, stripped it down WD-40'd the gearboxes used a screwdriver in the input shaft to turn and free it cleaned all the solid grease out and oiled with light machine oil, now works a treat.
