I'm 61 and stumbling around youtube on recommendation from my nephew. Fantastic band and album!
Jeff Mckeevery Hell yes, that’s awesome sir
@Mr. Mister goddamn the man's 61, and he's listening to the same shit you are. Cut him a break, dick.
@@polarbeargloves Don't talk to Mister Mr. like that.
@Mr. Mister I give a shit, so don't talk for every one.... Fuck stick.....
@@LowdownBoyBe quiet, delicate boy.......
crazy that this is nostaglic for me now
Feel you brother. 15 years flys by💀
loved listening to this CD in high school, first discovered it in 2006 from my older sister. Haven't spoken to her in several years, she's lost with drugs. The CD is so raw. Get better sis
Been listening to this album for almost a decade. And today in 2023 it is just as powerful thoughtful and meaningful as it was when I first heard it. I'm grateful for that.
The way this album changed me…
Still listening and loving this album in 2121 anyone with me?
One of the best albums ever. 💜
Not to mention the devil and God are raging inside me, so kudos to you.
@@polarbeargloves I was gonna mention your pfp as well but you got it covered!
My older sister showed me this band back in the day. One of her all time favorites. She helped pave the way for my musical taste and who I am as a person to this day.. knowing how intensely she resonated with this music and their message really illustrates perfectly her endless love and grace...She passed in a tragic car accident back in 2012 and this albums rawness just makes me cry and cry these days, thinking of her...sleeper 1972 is just a knife to the chest 🖤🖤🖤 I love you with all of my heart ❤
Rest in everlasting power my beautiful sister, inspiration and best friend

Sorry for your loss. I’m 89 as well. So sad to hear about all this loss of life from car accidents. I’m glad this music resonated with you two.
@@craigharrison1274 thank you. As far as car accidents go, yes accidents do happen..but real caution should be used while driving; tie down objects as securely as humanly possibly that you have on the outside of your vehicle; do not text and drive; do not drive drunk etc etc people don't know how in one small instance while driving lives can be changed forever. Mindlessness and false senses of invincibility are dangerous, dangerous things.
I appreciate the thoughtfulness. I personally hate car culture in America and the arrogance I see associated with it.
Again, I’m sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing your story. I am sure it is painful but it is also very beautiful you still have your memories of your sister.
@@craigharrison1274 thank you my friend. It is painful but it is also a beautiful gift to be able to keep her alive within me, in remembering her and speaking about her...sharing her memory with the world still here. Your response and care is so greatly appreciated. All the best to you in this coming new year. And beyond! ❤🕊
They’ve put out so many good albums, but this is still my favorite.
my frickin favorite album ugh so good . will never get tired of it
Absolutely no filler on this album at all. Every song is gold.
Midis touch
I had this album on repeat throughout high school and learned half the songs on guitar. I can't believe I had forgotten it all this time, I can still sing along to every word.
jkubed95 Thank you for still listening. For a time it was my gang’s soundtrack in Carrollton, Georgia.
yooo colly strings is seriously epic
I love this album. I have it on vinyl, and it always helps me calm down.
The band sold me a copy of the vinyl in Austin around 2007 for 5 bucks. Great show.
damn, way better deal than what I got lol.
I was surprised by how cheap it was. They all seemed like really nice guys. All the new songs they played at the time sounded way more like I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child than Mean Everything to Nothing.
Also thanks for giving me an excuse to give the album yet another listen. Put it on my headphones as I went to grab some beer from the gas station. Still remember every detail after all these years. Good stuff.
@@craigharrison1274 you don't have to lie to kick it. we never sold a vinyl for that cheap.
so sad this only has 6k views, one of my favorite albums ever
Hey at least *you* know this music...😊🙏
An absolute masterpiece. It terrifies me just how talented Andy Hull is.
My best friend in high school put me on this band along with Chester French, Cut Copy, etc. It takes me back to bonfires on Lake Michigan before everyone leaves for college in '09! 🔥
my favourite album of all time. thank you for uploading.
Good choice. You’re welcome!
Man I used to listen to this album on repppppppeast back in the day.
I had the exact realisation!
The wisdom Andy carried at a young age is beautiful. ..and he turned it into timeless pieces of art?! 🤯
One of my favorites... thank you for uploading.
You're welcome. Thank you for listening!
Thank you for uploading, a real classic
So glad this full album ison herenow
"I'm biased and buy this, I'll judge you on weakness, wrapped up in my own innocence.. ..and I think that's FINE"..
♥️
This album and Simple Math are so good. They are both like coming home, but at different times in one's life...
when you're old now and you used to be 15 listening to this album
You know your old when your 59 and listening for the first time, lol
Old?
K.
BLOWN AWAY!
Just getting better with age… I feel so nostalgic
I still listen to it regularly.
Thanks Emily!
Emily who now nani the who frick the Emily who now what?
I get that reference, thanks Emmy!
me and my dad only know about them because we listen to this radio station called 105.5
Just got removed from Spotify, what the hell man! Love this record
Yeah, what gives? I will miss it in my playlists
The band posted on twitter to say they're aware and hope to get it resolved and back up on streaming sites. It's likely some business/copyright issues that slipped past everyone...
its back on there now
I know right that made me sad I listened to this album every day with Spotify
I don't know how I came to this point in my life. It's like a dead end. I'm cuttin' myself to ease the pain, not to end it all, but I need to. Months, years, decades of mistakes, time can't be reminded. Now what? I don't know. I don't know. There's no way out. And I'm not brave enough to close my eyes.
It looks like this album isn't on apple music anymore :( Thanks for uploading it! one of my favorites

instablaster.
I fucking love Alice and interiors.
Cause the truuuth is you're probably not as bad as I make you out to be...
Saw this band at the fox in 2007 without ever hearing them before, blew my fucking mind and about stole the show from kol
I saw them around the same time in Austin before they released Mean Everything to Nothing and was amazed that all the new songs sounded like a continuation of Virgin. When Mean Everything to Nothing was finally released I have to admit I was sorely disappointed.
Craig Harrison Tell me about it, I've been a fan of Portugal the man since 2006, they're music is on the radio and winning grammys but it really don't hold a flame to in the mountain in the cloud and anything before.
I saw Portugal around the same town at a church in Douglasville Ga to a crowd of around 20 people. Pretty bizarre to see them now at a televised award ceremony saying "hail Satan".
Thank You for this upload for real, brings me so much nostalgia. Truth is artist get in to music to sellout, they really are doing what they are ment to. As a musician I have broke it down in so many ways, really isn't any way around it sadly enough.
I recommend finding a house show scene and touring on a house show circuit.
why can't i find this on itunes or spotify?
i listen to it every now & then, but now i can't find it anywhere. i ordered the vinyl offline for cheap.
can't figure out why they did away with it. did this album never do well? i loved it.
download the video/mp3 might get taken down at any point

The contract to that label ran out, it wasn’t intentional. The record did great. They’re working to get it back up :-)
thank you benny. i bought a copy off ebay in fear. damn did this shit move me at a time.
Pic looks like Joan Cusack...
If you like this band then I'd highly recommend the bands Brand New and The Republic of Wolves.
Both fantastic bands. The devil and god is probably my favortite album of all time.
Brand New is phenomenal. I'm not familiar with the other band you mentioned. If you like Manchester Orchestra check out From Indian Lakes. LOVE that band!
All those moaning, go out a buy the record.
