A bit artistic licence taken here...but it seemed appropriate given there was a very unfortunate sinking of a nice boat while I was filming...and I felt that the submarine deserved a video all of its own. Enjoy !

What brand model is?
As I understand the manual for submarines it's not good for crew moral to dive with the gunners on the deck.

Sad for the surface vessel's owner, but it did make for an imaginative film and edit chance. At first I thought the whole thing was remarkably staged until I saw the superstructure float off. I can imagine how he must have felt. MANY years ago when my Grandfather was still around, he was a master model maker. He built everything from scratch. I inherited one of his boats and he gave me a very old aero engine that was only bench started once. Any way he built a glider with a seven foot wing span. He put a small .049 engine on it and set the rudder for a gentle spiral climb. It was a free flyer. He spent MANY hours on it. As he watched it climb, it caught a thermal and was never heard from again. My Grandfather survived WWII as a Seabee and NEVER showed emotion, but I swear to this day I saw a tear. I dared not say anything, but I could feel his pain. Thanks for the unique video story. Take care and God Bless, Paul from Florida.

Nice to see a 12 odd knot gun monitor sailing at a scale speed of 75 knots!
Struck by torpedoes and going down by the stern naturally slows the vessel to 60 knots.
The brave little ship still manages to thrash out 45 knots as she sinks!
Time for a Regit! See if you can get the water speed record this time?

The U-boat don't seem to have trim tanks considering it needs to go at a decent speed to stay submerged.

I don't think you get that joking sound saying "v" is the most common thing instead of actually talking german. If you couldn't see that it was a joke you need to know that the internet won't give a fuck about your explanations because unless someone is actually speaking german and not making a joke then you'll see "V" everytime

Historically, the freighters that lagged behind the convoy were picked off for sinking. When a U- boat crew sighted a Destroyer it was time to submerge and hide.

PoliceGuy200 It is the U-47 from Robbe. It is a dynamic diving sub. Can be converted into static diving with a ballast tank. I converted one years ago. Still have a video on my youtube channel from a testdive. Cheers.

Just once I'd like to see a decent sub model that can submerge, acquire a target, fire a torpedo and sink another model ship. I know that's a lot to ask but with all the money people spend and the technology available today I don't see why it's so difficult or no one has pulled it off. That's not even a real submarine. It just bobs up and down like my ex girlfriend.

I don't think anyone else would want their boat rammed and damaged after spending months if not years building it. At least I suspect that would be the reason. They tried to get to it as quickly as possible. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

Like it didn t stay under water long and the back of the u boat struggled to follow the front while diving? Os this because of the positive buoyancy which was too high?
@@guillaumespecht4837 I hope you got an answer after 5 years, if not it’s because this was a dynamic diving model and requires forward movement to submerge. A static diver can submerge and surface without forward movement

Was the Monitor (i presume, it looks like it) uncontrollable moments before it sank or the guy was a complete idiot? Because you know, he should've seen it coming and brought it to the shore at the very least instead of still messing around if the vessel was still controllable.

I build the U-47 from Robbe before about 15 years but i convert it from dynamic to static diving ;)
Now it turn around somewhere in austria with a new owner ;)
