man this pc is so cool, hardware ages so quickly. While I bet this thing was an absolute monster in its day and it can still hold its own its way too overkill for what its giving. It makes me think of the PowerMac G5 with its crazy liquid cooling and such at the time it was released. Its def a cool machine thought, would love to see what its like fully running with its lighting working and stuff.
Back when the XPS systems used to be exciting and cool! Now they just kinda look like standard office PCs like the Optiplex line. It's a massive machine but it's so cool! I would take it if I had room. I still have an XPS 420 laying around from when I was a kid.
Yikes on the power consumption 😲! You can try a SSD/lower power, newer graphics card and see if that chills on the power consumption some, but I don't know. Good luck on finding someone to take it... Cool machine, though 😀!
Honestly, as a retro computer person, this computer is just a pain in the ass. Too heavy, too proprietary, and you have pretty much nailed why nobody wants it. There are just better, cheaper, easier to live with builds for any particular task you want to do. Hopefully you find someone crazy enough to take it.
Another 8800 lost to bumpgate I would imagine. I still build XP systems with Q6600, since they go for next to nothing. It's GTX 950 though for the GPU. I have at least one with a 1350 W PSU though it only cost $35 USD.
I had something similar from HP, giant thing in large tower case with special motherboard and connectors. It actually worked but like you there's no real use for it now so I scrapped it.
I found 2 xps 720 and a 730. The 720 worked the 730 was just an empty case . I found all the parts on eBay and restored it. I would love to have yours but I m far away in canada
To put things into perspective modern Mediatek mid segment Dimensity chips are more powerful than this CPU and GPU and consume a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of power. Now you know why Intel isn't doing too good these days.
If anyone takes it, the first thing you do is put a solid state HD's in it. I just got a similar one, it makes the big fan sound when you turn it on. I was surprised it has four cores.. The one I have is newer in that it has DDR3 RAM 800-1600HZ, but this one in the video, is better for the cooling, mine is standard fan and heat-sink cooling. I am going to work on mine this winter for fun. Mine is from 2011, What year is this one?
I think this one is from 2008 (Bios A06, 01/01/08) more details in this video from about 6:33 ua-cam.com/video/bjYNGuIi1GU/v-deo.html - Intel Core 2 Extreme Q6850 from 2007
I think it's a cool collector's piece, probably just as awesome as those old Toshiba Qosmio laptops but i honestly wouldn't have bought something like this when it was new. Proprietary case, motherboard and power supply, you'd overspend way too much money trying to replace a failed high end BTX motherboard
Very COoL. I haven't been this impressed since I stepped out of the shower dripping wet.. just saying Thank you for the video. Cheers from So.Ca.USA 3rd house on the left.
certainly nobody wants to pay £4000-£5600 for an LGA775 Core2Quad PC thats insane, but theres still plenty of interest for LGA775 hardware, for retro gaming. I would be interested to know what it could go for on an ebay auction, ideally £50 but cause of historic rarity value could go as far as £200+
@joshwa1234 I'm also curious if the case and cooler could be adapted to suit modern hardware, certainly the spinning rust could be replaced with a pair of SSD's in raid instead no?
Looking at the passmark score the Raspberry Pi 5 beats it. All that metal & copper compressed into a single board that can fit in your pocket within 13 years.
send it to me, I collect this kind of stuff. :) don't believe me, I'm watching this on a core 2 duo, @1080p. :) no not mine main machine.... No not in the uk. but I'll pay for shipping..
Computers and parts were stupidly expensive in the late 1990s and early 2000s. I built up an IBM with two sockets for Pentium Pros but only one CPU and one VRM. ebay shopping got me a second VRM, and I found a pair of PPro 200 1M cache for something like $35 in the early '00s. Those processors were $2675 each when released in 1997. I'd love to have just the case and get the lights working. The rest of it not so much 😁 Installing an ATX board would require re-engineering the motherboard mount and the rear of the case. The BTX form factor didn't work out so well. Better cooling, but I remember talk on the internet how it would mean new cases, not compatible with ATX. So, here we are 18 years later still using various sizes of ATX.
It cost about $5k back in 2008, or 17 years ago.

If you want a Ultimate Windows XP/Vista computer, you have to sacrifice power saving.
This was my dream PC 10+ years ago. Still would drive to pick it up if we lived on the same continent

ide love one of those old beast for the old computer collection but no one wants to ship anything any more

Its a extreem processor. Very rare put a gpu on that thing and make another vídeo something like a gtx 750 ti or something.
I’d love this old pc. 😊

What was the most common use case for these type of servers?
When you turned on the pc, I thought it was goin to take off lol...

I would offer my room to fit it in but unfortunately I'm in the US. It's quite an interesting big pc tho.
What does the numbers say on the front, the Beeping corresponds to those numbers

bit overkill having C19 power lead for a 1000watt psu thats usually reversed for psu's over 1500watts
I would want it, but only for the case 🙂
It might not be useful and uses a lot of power but it looks cool afk.❤❤❤
Damn shit is going to take off when you turn it on.
In 2024 - $500 computer goods (common situation): Ryzen 8600 (AM5), Radeon RX 7800, 4k LCD and windows 11...
$5000 and quad core 🤷♀️
that is pretty cool though lol
what part of the uk are you in? lol i love how ott it is for what it can do lol
You should be able to find my contact details on the about page :)

Darth Vaders desktop.
0:30 I Think Is C13
So it's about a 2000 PC but 5k from dell

Expensive to ship. Would be a mess on arrival
I've had this listed on ebay for months and no-one seems interested.

@@danthompsett2894 plenty of people upgraded them but I m going to keep mine original and collectable. They are powerful enough for every day tasks
i couldnt help but but one of these from an ewaste buyer about 12 yrs ago -what a huge piece of crap
8:45 Only In Bios
i'd have it if it was nearby lol
windows would be way faster on a SSD
1000 watt power supply ? Too little actual processing power for that much power consumption 😅

Filming upside down does not improve the Video.
I'll give you tree-fidy.

No! Not for 1$!
