I bought a late '99 Fazer in 2001 from the now sadly deceased Ian Bell in Bedlington. I ride it as often as I can and love it. In 2004 I rode it to the Newcastle - Amsterdam ferry and from Amsterdam to middle Germany where it's still with me. Absolutely wonderful bike, plenty of low down grunt so you can torque along in a high gear but when the need for speed comes over you, just drop down a few gears, peg the throttle, let it rev out to 12,500 and it flies. Just about the perfect bike. Smooth, powerful, brilliant R1 brakes and a great sound even from the stock exhaust. I've lost count of how many times I've been cruising, got behind a car and thought "What the fuck, why are you crawling along?" Only to look down and realise they're going over the speed limit. And one small but great feature is that in 4th gear, every 1,000 rpm is exactly 10mph so no need to look at the speedo, just use the tacho to know how fast you're going. 11,000rpm? That'll be 110mph : ) A real classic bike. Built using bits from the parts bin but hell, they were great parts.
Just bought a Fazer as my first big bike, very happy with it, it’s quick but sticks to the road so well, feels so sturdy and gives you confidence to ride at sensible speeds without catching you out, this lad is braver than me, I think a bike for speed or the everyday commute it can do it all!!
Planning on buying a fazer 600 very soon, My father owned one when i was a child some 15 years ago. Loved going as pillion, many happy memories. Love this video. Audio is spot on.
I'll have exactly the same hilarious voice under the helmet next week returning to the road with an old 1999 Fazer 600. And I will be as happy as you on this video. Sure!! 🤣🤣🤣
Just think a bike like this is middle of the line of most things these days but prior to the 80s etc this would have been one of the fastest bikes about, our perspective with the H2, visa etc are warped. These are still fast bikes that you can pick up cheap now and they run forever. Awesome bike.
Most underrated bike there is. I own a FZ600 and holy shit she moves. I have the same reactions every time I take her out. I've owned the bike for almost a year now lol.
Miss my Fazer, but my knee couldn't take the cramped position. The last carbed model was the best engine, you could thrash it or poodle into work and get great mileage. Getting old is rubbish!
Sold a custom 99 Harley and picked up an 08 FZ6 with 14k miles. Looks brand new. Bloggers said if you can get one for under $3k, they're awesome all-around bikes. So far, it's great. Need to add a cruise control, something for tunes and a highway bar to allow for posture adjust on long trips. Most of my biker friends want to buy it.
@@thomaswarren2699 great bike to start on but I have a 2004 bandit 600 now which I prefer just feels nicer to chuck into the bends but saying that I've had 2 fazers plenty fast enough 😁
@@markpollington oh okay, thanks for the reply! It's interesting you say that, I've been looking at both the fazer and the bandit S, which one would you say is more suited to long journeys on motorways?
@@thomaswarren2699 probably the fazer I'd say as has good wind protection and faster than bandit 600 but I've got the naked bandit so don't know how well protected you are with the half fairing cheers
I was wondering where you've been then I realized UA-cam is doing this thing where subscribers don't see updates from subscriptions.. which kinda defeats the point! I started watching you when you first had your lexmoto zsx 125 xD nice too see you've progressed quite a way since then :) Keep it up dude, ride safe!
Pod Rider yeah I have seen it quite annoying did notice a loss in people who used to comment and not anymore lol, glad to see you found me again 😜 I'm trying to upload a bit more again as went inactive for a while but will carry on plodding people will refind me again 🖒
Have my bike test in the coming couple of months, seriously considering a 600 Fazer as my first big boy bike lol. I'm a bit of a Yamaha nut as it is, so it appeals there and the prices seem good compared to other stuff.
I had one. Only let down by the very poor headlight and I found the seat uncomfortable after about 120 miles or so (perhaps a little buzz via the pegs?). 180 miles per tank, and enough go to make it a fun machine.
yeah man they are a great bike ended up owning it for about 3 months then unfortunately it got stolen and crushed ha but all in all it is a great bike has a good top end aswell :P
@@GreedyBiker Probably by about 00:45 lol *Not accelerating particularly quickly* - "Oh my God that's scary!" - *Nervous giggling* I remember getting on a 700 after I passed my test and feeling like I was sitting on an intercontinental ballistic missile ahahah What do you ride now?
I really, REALLY miss my 600 Fazer. Ex Ian Dowds and had a shit load of goodies bolted to it. Keep trying to get my mate to sell it back to me but he's having none of it...git!!
Scary?!? I'm driving that baby sice 17 years. What do you drive normaly, a lawn mower? You should try something like a R1, those bikes are seriously insane!
If you think that is fast, jump on a Zx10r or something of similar performance, think url have more than skid marks , as you sound like a girlie on this rather tame machine
This guy has not got a clue about riding I’d stick to a 125 if I was him your all over the road mate overtaking on chevrons even a right turn that car you came along side could of easily pulled right on you you are dangerous mate I don’t know how long you have had your license and riding like you are you won’t have it long mate
Yeah your probably correct mate this video was originally filmed 6 1/2 years ago and had my full license now for 5 and a bit years now, can’t say I wasn’t being dangerous because I was it was the first unrestricted big bike i went on so yeah I wanted to enjoy it nobody’s perfect I’m sure you’ve done stupid things on the bikes before🤔😉
GreedyBiker sweet dude! How many miles have you done on her? I saw your street triple test ride, was pretty awesome, love the way it sounds! What will you be getting after your A2?

Fantastic bike. Fast enough, and very comfy for long distance rides too. I'd love another one.
Hi mate, great vid, getting this as my first bigger bike, so excited, is this the stock exhaust on here? Only heard this bike with customs so far?

Got one in June as my first ever bike after passing my test at 32. Loving it. You sounded like me at the start, but now I'm bored of it, feels slow 😂
Same... I need a 1000cc
I felt like this the first time on my Fazer, and still feel like this everytime I go out on it ! ..is it ok to share it with a Fazer group I'm in ?
great commentary,i know this is an old clip now,im off to look at one tomorrow-yes
What year is that fazer?,I'm picking up a 1999 model this weekend 😁
Did you get that '99 FZS? Looking at one for my next bike and wondering what some owner's think about it

Great value for money bike
also are you already on a full A license or were you on an A2?
Think thats scary, try a 1996 zzr600..
I have a 2000 FZS600. Never fully opened her up no need to she goes like stink! More than enough power to get my 17 and half stone lump up to speed
recomend a good a2 bike that does not need a restrictor pls
its got 98bhp
its a grey area some places say it has 93 bhp some places say 95 bhp, the legal limit is 94
It works in the UK. It states it needs to be under 70kW. The fazer is under 70. So can be restricted, as mine is.
it has to be 35kW, so yes it does need a restrictor
Yamaha mt03

soup 890 yeah man it's defo a all in one type a bike if you can get a well maintained one I'd go for it
great allrounder bike , let down by poor lights
Beautifull begginers bike.im looking to pick one up on spring.
yeah it was a great bike, shame it got stolen
what kind of weed did you smoke...
Huh?

👍🏽🏆
Considering the engine is based on a thundercat it does have some poke, but compare it to a ktm1290 superduke and its slow as a snail
Possibly because this is 600cc, less than half the capacity. Newsflash bucko - A ferrari is quicker than a mini.
