I also wish I could talk to them to tell them how much I love this theory but who knows, maybe they'll see this. I also want to say I'll be back to uploading like normal, so more hxh content on the way.

One of my problems with the phantom troupe having a grudge with the kurta clan is the fact that Uvogin literally doesn’t remember slaughtering them when Kurapika brings them up by name. The implication being that they commit so much senseless murder, he doesn’t keep count so it’s not like they kill based on grudge. Then when he sees kurapika’s glowing red eyes he’s not filled with hatred but only gets a bit excited as he starts remembering again.

I think what is often overlooked when people question how dark Kurapika would have to have gone to not care to visit a dying Gon is that Kurapika is clearly shown to NOT KNOW. Leorio is constantly phoning him to try to tell him but we see Kurapika ignoring the phone. Knowing Kurapika's character, there is no way he would not have immediately come to visit Gon if he knew that Gon was dying. But whether this whole Sheila / Pariston theory is true or not, it makes sense to keep Kurapika out of this part of the plot since he had no role in the Chairman Election arc (and lots of role in the ongoing arc). Togashi is very good at using characters only when they will have an impact on the plot. So having Kurapika ignore his phone calls from Leorio is plausible and believable. Most of us will ignore calls if we are in a depressed and dark mood. And that keeps him away just long enough to wrap on Gon and Killua's story (for now) without distraction and then bringing back Kurapika as a protagonist (for the audience I mean) later for his own story also without distraction.

    • @Yodah97
      @Yodah97 Рік тому +3

Well the thing is that given the circumstances of the story, Kurapika definitely knew that Leorio wouldn't be freaking out for something small. "One of our friends needs my help" should be one of the first explanations that come to mind as to why Leorio is freaking out. So it is still fairly dark that Kurapika ignored his phone, even if he never got confirmation that this was the situation.

Yeah Kurapika has his own story to focus on, only when they really need him he’ll consider seeing them, and in regards to the Sheila/ Pariston theory I would be interested if Togashi will go more into the backstory of Pariston because he was a very interesting character who was introduced to us in the election arc, and it will be interesting to see Sheila grow as an in as she tries to work harder to get to her real goals in the future👌🏽 And with Gon and Killua they can show how much they have grown and matured when the Dark Continent Arc officially releases👏🏼👏🏼 and then to add to what I already mentioned about Kurapika earlier he needs to focus on bettering his mental health, which will in turn show he’s maturing, bettering himself as a person, and when people r ready to see him he will definitely be ready to share his own story to those who deserve to hear it including the people close to Kurapika 😏🫰🏼🙅🏽‍♂️✨💫🩶

People are saying the newest chapters disprove this theory? How if anything it proves it further. The fact that shelia clearly had a strong connection to the phantom troupe in childhood (and likely the formation of the phantom troupe) I like to think that she was the original 4th member, and was a key player in setting up the kurta massacre. Another thought that may attribute to this how the hunter association has rarely, if ever, done anything to stop the phantom troupe activity, and perhaps this is due to pariston (or shelia) pulling the strings for them

Sheila theory and Hisoka Illumi theory are both amazing
A flaw with this theory is that Uvogin didn’t know or recall anything about the Kurta clan right before his fight with Kurapika, even though he was apart of the massacre. After he was outclassed by Kurapika, he then remembered the Kurta clan, recalling them with a strangeness or lack of familiarity. He said something along the lines of “now I remember. They got really strong and enraged when their eyes turned red.”
I don’t remember every troupe member from meteor city but I’m pretty sure Uvogin’s from meteor city. I’m pretty sure he was also a member of the troupe since they were founded. It would make sense for him to have been from meteor city.

Sheila being Pariston and decapitating Kurapika's best friend while being responsible for what happened to the Kurta clan is so sinister it just adds to Pariston's unsettling behavior. And the fact that a friend of hers and the core members of the Troupe was horribly murdered by someone that they made it their life's mission to find and destroy. Now we KNOW that Sheila is connected to the Troupe and it may be possible that the meaning in the note was that they blamed someone in the Kurta Clan for taking their friend from them and this was their revenge.

They value treasure more than money, so it wouldn’t make sense for them to sell the eyes.

Shela is pariston. Gender swap is nothing in a world of nen. 21:56 Pariston thought of a broken doll when considering his version of love. That doll marrion in beyond's group likely belongs to pariston as part of his nen abilities. Ging notices her strength being much higher than everyone else's for a reason.
So pariston being a manipulator would enable him to transform his appearance like illumi, and a separate doll being his power is believable as emitter is a neighbor to Manipulation. Pariston being a 3 star hunter means he has the skill to tap into conjuration as well

With the shape shifting thing, I think it could be possible with nen, example, Bisky, she can change from looking like a little girl to a jacked woman at will seemingly. Or it could potentially be a conjuration ability with some manipulation, but that would be really difficult to do and Pariston probably isn't a conjurer, but he's also probably an extremely skilled nen user, and he could be a specialist which would facilitate a more even split of 80% - 80% between conjuration and manipulation as well as other effects that specialists can use, which could also explain the shape shifting.

24:00 makes sense now with the fact that we know sheila was a friend (or perhaps an og member) of the troupe. In the flashback one of the kids even suggests Sheila should play a double role (one being a villain) in their play/dub of the Power Sweepers. This makes perfect sense as foreshadowing of Sheila being two people, and also the duality of Pariston's evil actions being disguised as love.

  • @AHAHAHHAHA
    @AHAHAHHAHA 7 місяців тому +1

From what we know from the new Chrollo childhood chapters where we see Sheila as a kid,she doesn’t seem at all like Pariston,at the same time we don’t see much of her.
She might’ve been messed up like that from the beginning, but in the flashback she seems very innocent. She also has the same book that she gives to Kurapika meaning she dreamed since childhood to become a hunter.
However with the context given in the chapter of the troupes initial formation even before the official formation we see that Sheila did not want to participate in Chrollo’s big plans, she wanted to go her own way and we see her sad as she leaves the rest of them behind, thus rejecting the path of the Spider.
If she chose not to join them because she didn’t like the idea of becoming a villain, how come she helped them in the ONE thing that’s unthinkable and unforgivable?
If it was her idea then in the years where she was away from the others she became just as fucked up if not WORSE.
Or maybe the wish to murder the kurta was SO STRONG that she could relate to the spiders completely, but that would require a justification I can’t think of rn.She’d also feel guilty for not getting revenge on sarasa and not helping meteor city since she didn’t throw away HER life unlike the others,so she’d help them this time as she’d have the same motivation as them, which must be strongly tied to meteor city’s kidnapping problem or something of the sort.
OR since the beginning the reason for her not joining was the selfish obsession with becoming a hunter and reaching the dark continent. If she always was this vile she might’ve LIED to the troupe about something the kurtas allegedly did this giving them some more people they can get revenge on and another way to earn money for the city.
She’d offer the kurta eyes to Tserri so he’d help her organise the journey to the dark continent eventually, and the whole massacre was for that very purpose.

So after his video I have these hypotheses.
    1. Sheila is definitely Pariston (90% sure) and made Pairo watch and was the last killed.
    2. If the Kurta is indeed confirmed to be from the DC then maybe Pairo awaken the true eyes of the Kurta ancestors (Eyes of the Devil) but was too weak to use its power and died, that why they preserved his head to prove the eyes are genuine. If not that then Pairo's eyes are a unique color because of his sickness.
    3. Sheila definitely betrayed the troupe and ran of with the Kurta eyes. As for when she sold them who knows maybe around the time she became Pariston. Also if Pariston is Sheila and the Kurta clan is from the DC then maybe that's why Pariston took an interest in the Chimera Ant who also hail from the DC.

Wasn’t this motto of “we’ll accept anything you leave here but don’t take anything away from us”tied to meteor city turning more violent and adopting the idea of “only life can pay for life”? Both of them would be a response to the many kidnappings happening when Chrollo was a child. So it wouldn’t really make sense to apply the rule they’ve juste recently established to something that happened such a long time ago.Meteor city being a place where everything can be left is a result of it being a huge dump,so back when it supposedly was a kingdom they probably weren’t as accepting, and in the context of a war there was no situation where they could reject OR accept the kurtas, plus they were the ones to find/attack them first(that’s Ofc if the kurta got mad at humans for a reason and not just out of principle because it’s a dark continent rule)
Maybe all the kingdom did was meet them at the dark continent.
Wasn’t there also the story of meteor city originating from an internment camouflage set up by a dictator?Thats quite contrary to the kingdom theory.
In fact, meteor city might’ve been a dump back then already since no time for the kurtas arrival is known. What if the kurtas were seen as a problem by the hunters and well..DUMPED in meteor city like some radioactive Guinea pigs?If they BACK THEN hurt meteor city that was exactly like it is NOW,like the city Chrollo knows and loves, that would be unjustified aggression at its finest, and that’s what the troupe could relate to as the context of a kingdom is incredibly foreign to them.

I think I have a better theory. I believe the theory that the clan is from the dark continent is correct. I think that sheila's purpose behind spending time with the boys was to find the location of the village, but the main objective was to learn the CLANS LANGUAGE and WRITING system by conversing with the 2 boys. What if shelia's nen speciality is linguistics. Think about it, if this clan has been in seclusion since their time entering the world then their language would be the same language as their distant cousin's on the dark continent. Knowing the clans language would be like Columbus already know the Aztec language before stepping foot on the new world.
This would also imply that anyone that has been fixated with exploring the dark continent or preventing other's from further exploration could be behind the clan massacre.

Like most theories, most of the pitch details are a stretch and rely on using your imagination to rationalize. Pariston being the same person isn't based on anything more than their art style being similar. The Kurta being dark continent citizens also hinges entirely on basic art motions and a zoomed in bird and generic hut. Nothing to disprove the idea, but no real evidence. That said, it's good storytelling to interweave elements together so I imagine there will be some relevant reason the troupe killed them, and it should come up soon if the troupe won't survive their trip.

Do you think the kurta clan could be based on the ainu tribe in Japan essentially when you consider how simar their fashion senses are, but also that they may be based on the freman from dune, maybe the kurta clans Scarlet eyes is a reference to the blue eyes the freman get from taking spice, the freman were also a heavily oppressed group of people who were mistreated by the harkonens and one of the most prominent harkonens is an evil Prince (feyd rautha) which mirrors how the evil prince tserreidnich was the one who hired the phantom troupe to kill all the kurta clan and take eyes. If the theory of the Kurta clan being from the dark continent is true then it could be a reference to the freman being the natives of arrakis.

About the book and the "tracking device" inside, and the simple fact that, well, NEN EXISTS... To simply put it - it hasnt to be a "technological device", some nen user could use his tracking or whatever ability on it to find the location of said object. And if Pariston is Sheila, and just happens to be transmuter (which I believe he is), he could easily achieve both feats of changing his body look (like Hisoka) and make the book as some kind of tracking or detecting ability.

Bro, Allukah is not trans. Allukah is a girl and Nanaka is a boy. They are different entities in the same body. This isn't directly stated in the manga or the show, but if you pay attention to what is said about her/him, it makes the most sense.
That being said, Sheila being Pariston is in the realm of possibility. Pariston is pretty mysterious.

@@hr-kj5bx Allukah is a little girl and Killua's sister. Nanaka is actually an entity from the dark continent that is using Allukah as a host. The entity is called "Ai, the Codepence of Desire". This is shown in the manga in the Dark Continent arc. Allukah/Nanaka is not one person who is trans. It is two different consciousnesses. The host body is female. Nanaka, the parasite, is male, but Nanaka and Allukah are not the same entity. Therefore Allukah is not trans.
If you absolutely MUST make this about some sort of mental condition, then it would be much more accurate to say Allukah/Nanaka has multiple personality disorder rather than say she has gender dysphoria. But the truth is it is neither. Allukah is actually just a little girl who is the host of a supernatural entity.

What if they actually have an use for the Kurta clan while entering or traveling trhu the dark continent and Pariston (assuming that he is Sheela) planned this all the time so he could have a Kurta’ eyes within the crew? There was no way for him to predict that Kurapika would be outside unless if Kurapika himself told Sheela and he waited until he was out to do it. Or it was just an honest mistake and he decided he could have Kurapika joining the game hunting the eyes that would take him to a direct confrontation with Sheela while keeping Pairo’s head as a backup. In any case, Pariston would have the reasons and the means to do that.

this Sheila character being Pariston would be interesting narratively (perhaps touched by Pariston's willingness to go to great lengths to accomplish a goal, or imaginatively referenced by the picture of the doll shattering when Pariston talks about desiring to hate things), but it's such a social taboo to use gender/sexual identity in a deceptive way ... let me back up ... I thought it would be interesting as in "what if the 'Pariston' persona were used within the hunter association to command authority (reminiscent of the woman ceo who talked in a deeper voice at board meetings and dressed like steve jobs), then what about the 'Sheila' side? maybe 'Sheila' is the 'original' persona, or a creation to hide from the spiders, or just because, or a facade to be treated differently by outsiders such as with kindness to a private village" (and it's that first/last idea that I bring up the social taboo of deception using gender/sexual identity (and if you need proof of its contentiousness, just go on twitter, but then again, we're more receptive to women adopting 'mannish' mannerisms than vice versa)) ... to summarize, in my opinion, I just think it would be INTERESTING narratively, but if I were the writer, I'd basically question 'for what reasons SHOULD Pariston have different personas?' *We've seen a different dynamic for the Zoldycks*... but for Pariston in particular, there hasn't been much of a compelling reason to need to make it apart of his character when there are less (real world socially)contentious means of achieving what he's capable of(within the art/story itself)... such as through murder, blackmail, general deception, etc. (lol). Therefore, *I don't think the theory for Pariston being Sheila would be the case*, when Sheila could easily be their own person (purely from a narrative perspective). Then again, HxH has been in development for such a long time, Pariston being Sheila could have been an idea at some point... but it just gets tougher to do in today's progressive/progressing(?) social times. Unless we just needed more reasons to *hate* Pariston :\... and it would be a cheap way to accomplish that when put alongside the other things he's done. If it were to be the case that Sheila were Pariston, I think it would just serve to rile up the audience rather than be a warranting narrative crux, unlike the importance of Alluka's character.
Anyway, just these two characters looking similar means they are the same person?! Heck, I wish I were the celebrity people sometimes thought I looked like :)
Thanks for coming to my ted talk and letting me add my two cents.

  • @rainy9698

The idea that there "was probably a reason" that the Kurta were exiled and shunned is kinda silly, imo. Togashi does a great job at using HxH to bring into focus humanities dark traits and how twisted people can get.
So in saying so, if you simply look at examples of similar situations in reality that occurred with no other reasoning besides "these people are different from us" like the Holocaust and slavery, it isn't far fetched for the Kurta clan to be hated simply for "being different" and perceived as "scary" due to said differences.
It's a heavy topic to think about, but HxH not shying away from addressing these concepts is one the things that makes it such an amazing body of work.

While Togashi kills people left and right, it seems he wants a happy ending for at least the main characters that composed our original Quartet(with the occasional, but aloof, 5th member being Hisoka).
