This is a really peaceful take of what the afterlife is like. You just have whatever your heart desires as a last meal, and then wait for the train. So peaceful

OMG I absolutely didn't expect this game to ever end up on game grumps! Bear's Restaurant made me cry my eyes out, there's some really goddamn intense storytelling in this thing, and its the perfect mix of super low depressing moments and really great heartwarming awesomeness to bring you right back again. Absolutely awesome, honestly I liked it even more than the sequel Fishing Paradiso

What made the grumps decide to play this one is beyond me, unless they genuinely didn’t know how emotional the game is. I feel like they’re gonna be a mess at the end of it, if they play through the whole thing.

I just finished the game and it's a really great story. If they don't finish I suggest playing it yourself.
The cat's meowing could be a tone language, Arin, you don't know! The extra meow could also be a way to end a sentence like "desu ne" in Japanese.

As soon as he got the first memory shard instead of it saying he took her order, I knew that this was gonna be one of those games where you're a waypoint to the afterlife.
Also I don't know how many theatre people there are here but the chair set up at the train station and viewing memories reminds me very much of the last Act of "Our Town".

Our Town is one of my favorite plays/movie. Altho they did alter the end of movie version for the sake of filmography
I really hope they finish this one! The title made me think we were in for a horror game, but it's got such a gentle melancholic vibe that I'd love to see through to the end.
I’m genuinely glad they were making light of this game cause I’m sure it would have made me cry otherwise.
It gets way more in the feels by the end of the game too 😢

I'm man enough to admit that this game is making me full on cry.
When I talked to the pregnant lady at the train stop and she said she couldn't feel her baby inside her anymore, that instantly got me. Arin didn't get that dialogue here.
Oh my goddd this whole loss of memory thing is just so much heavier after an experience I had semi-recently. This game has me in tears with every bit of dialog

This will get buried in all the memes everyone always comments, but I really enjoy this game and the story! It's incredibly inspiring to me; I could easily see a book or a series written around the concept of limbo being this ethereal space that people choose to stay in and experience others. And having this small diner/restaurant be the basis for meeting all these people who passed on (and then having to experience their memories) is a really cool concept.
Thanks to whoever all made it, the story and aesthetic are phenomenal!

This game gives me huge Spirit Farer vibes. A game in which you guide spirits to the other side by helping them complete their “unfinished business”. You build up the boat (hence why you’re the Spirit Farer) over time with crops, upgrades, etc. It’s genuinely so sad because you become attached to the spirits on your boat, and then you have to say goodbye. And almost all of them hug you as they leave... I cried every time. Still a great game and I highly recommend it!
I tried it, but I got scared thinking about trying to keep 3 "costumers" fed while trying to do everything else at the same time.
It seems like a wonderful game, I just have too much anxiety lol
@@EchoL0C0 To be honest, that part was pretty simple. I think it feels like a bigger task than it ended up being. Either way tho, I get you. My anxiety from the game came when I knew I was on their “send off mission”.. because I knew what would follow after
3:39 - Okay when the bear stand against the counter with their arm back and big belly pressing to the bar, it just like sparked a memory of that very same pose in old Sierra games like Police Quest or Leisure Suit Larry used by the bartenders.

First off, Wow! This video really hit me deep with tears. I wasn't expecting to cry. The two that hit me the hardest was the Top Ramen kid and the mother. To lose the opportunity of having a child by death is very depressing and to not have those special times with your friends, especially when you're a kid, just hits you right in the heart.
Second, Dan NEEDS to voice in a furry love game. Just the most comforting voice I've ever heard.
10:41 I like to think that it's because cats literally only meow to humans (they communicate with other cats in other ways, meowing is supposed to mimic the cry of a human baby) so meowing is like a vocal tic or whatever, the cat just does it all the time

Normally I'm not a fan of media with sad/bleak undertones but this is one of the kinds I love, even more than my preferred genres, because it's handled so gently and creatively. I really like this so far :}
