Chris Lutz has been a friend of mine for almost 20 years. His stepdad George, was a profiteer off of the book, and movies, not Chris. Chris turned down a very lucrative offer from MGM for the 2005 movie because of his ethics regarding this latest remake of the movie. Hollywood almost always grossly embellishes details re: movies. My mom worked at Universal Studios in the 1960's, and she'd tell me all sorts of stories of very gross embellishments by the Studio people that smelled money. The stories I've heard from Chris for almost 20 years have always been extremely consistent. Bottom line: I believe Chris.

Carlos Carpinteyro BELIEVE WHAT YOU WILL, NOTHING SUPERNATURAL OR PARANORMAL EVER HAPPENED IN THAT HOUSE!!! THE LUTZES, THE WARRENS, HANS HOLTZER, WERE ALL A BUNCH OF LIERS!!! I BELIEVE IN DEMONIC INFESTATION AND DEMONIC POSSESSION IN SOME CASES, BUT THE ONLY SCARY THING THAT EVER HAPPENED IN THAT HOUSE WAS RONNIE DEFAO MURDERING HIS FAMILY!!!

As for the Lutz family, all of them keep changing their story, including Chris and Daniel. George especialy changed his story all the time when he kept getting confronted on things that show his story to be bogus. Such as the window incident, there are no hospital records of Daniel going to get his hand looked at after the window slammed on it, when confronted on it George changed his story saying that he didn't take Daniel to the hospital. Then when George was confronted about the fact that no snow was on the ground during the 28 days they lived at the house, so he couldn't have seen the hoof prints in the snow, George then says he never saw footprints in the snow. It kept changing. If they were so worried about Hollywood embellishing on the tale, how come George and Kathy never tried to set the record straight. Not once did they ever try to tell the true story that happened there without all the Hollywood stuff thrown in.
Also before George's death he had just made a 3 picture movie deal and one of the plots was for George to go back to the house and one of his sons is suppose to kill him in the movie. This was told by Chris on a internet talk show, I will try to find the link again to post here. Doesn't sound like George tried to set the record straight.
Finally, Chris was suppose to have a book telling the true story that was suppose to come out in 2005 and now it is 2014 still no book, suspicious is it not?.

You'd say it's suspicious if he did write the book. So not writing one is a really dumb reason to be suspicious. And just who told you it didn't snow the whole time they were there? I hear that claim being parroted around on the internet a lot and it's rubbish, so who is your source?! You can find the truth yourself. Just go to the Farmer's Almanac and search their house's zip code in the date range of the month they lived there and learn that oh wow, it actually DID snow.

I do know that in the IMDB credits for the program (and many Amityville articles) he's listed as "Chief Straight Arrow," but after your comment I did some checking and couldn't find any non-Amityville instances where he's referred to as anything other than Chief Cooper.

Ret. police detective Robert (Straight Arrow) Cooper was elected Chief of the Montaukket tribe in 1997, not sure how long that lasted. Secondly, river erosion (the house is on a river inlet) is much faster than oceanic; it is not uncommon for hundreds of feet of erosion to take place in less than a century. In any case, I'm not saying Holzer wasn't off base, just that some of your facts aren't as cut-and-dry as you make them appear.

  • @popazz1

I vaguely recall a documentary from the 80s,(one of many),which claimed George Lutz only collaberated with the book coz he was facing bankruptsy and needed the money.Fair enough reason for doing so,I would say. And,I cant understand why the step-son was bitching about the inaccuracies in the film/s.As he says,"that's Hollywood" S'why they always say 'based on a true story',NOT,"we will portray every minute detail of what happened"THAT would be called a documentary!

Fair enough; somewhere along the line the two may have gotten confused (not uncommon with this topic), but that is the gentleman I was referring to. I was only talking possibility; I think we can agree on your basic point, to wit: There is no evidence to support Holzer's claims that there are or ever were remains on the lot at 112/108 Ocean Ave.
    An aside: I agree ;-)

What happened in Hurricane Sandy is the short-sightedness of the power company. The moment the storm arrived, I knew Long Island is going to be in the dark. They have most of their powerlines up in trees and above ground instead of below. I think it is time for us Americans to know that shit like this will happened and have happened to people all over the world. They expect it, we on the other hand, never think anything bad will ever happen.

It's so interesting how people have such different perspectives when it comes to crimes like this. Not sure where you live but in the Midwest where I am we have a very similar famous murder case, the Villisca Axe Murders which happened in 1912 in a small town in southwest Iowa, about an hour from Omaha where I live . The case was never solved and there are 3 or 4 theories on what happened and who did it. Various people lived in the house in the subsequent years. Some people said it was completely normal and had no issues while others claimed it was haunted and had terrifying experiences. Just search it here on UA-cam, there are a ton of videos by paranormal investigators and visitors. The house was modernized in the 1940s, 50s and subsequent years but was restored back to 1912 settings about 20 years ago and is now a museum you can visit and tour. I wonder if eventually this will happen with the Amityville house. I know after the Lutzes two more families lived there and never reported anything weird. You do have to wonder why some people have different stories and experiences in the same house.

For the most part, movies that are based on true stories are over exaggerated anyway. Hollywood does this to make the movie more exciting. I'm sure if they Lutz family told what really happened I mean the real truth, there would not have been books or movies.

It's almost certainly all made up. Even so, it's still probably the most famous haunted house story in history and yet both film versions have not done much of a job of sticking to the "facts" as described in the book. The second one was a particularly eye rolling departure from the official account.

It is not even worth mentioning that, even this is too much commercial for that cheesy wish spoken garbage that has nothing to offer apart from effects that are suppose to be scary but instead being funny.
Other than that, they lure you with a new interview and that must be very informative, but once again it's just America. They are just bagging for watchers with things that make humans watch it like a headline, but they didn't say very much.
