When she starts talking about how Hollywood tried to cancel this movie!! It’s a MOVIE. Crazy and sad.

I'm 64 and I was 20 yrs old when Reagan was elected.
With all due respects to Jillian. Obama may have been more polished but I never felt the Reagan talked down to the citizens the way Obama did.
When Reagan spoke we were one people. Not a left and a right. I don't remember Reagan blaming his predecessor for 8 yrs.
I always felt that Reagan was transparent. I did not get that from Obama. I hoped for it with Obama but over time things became much more secretive.
But Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. 🤷‍♂

exactly. Obama was a good speaker and a good campaigner and that was it, but he was a eloquent liar. Reagan spoke to everyone like they were all Americans.

At 13, I remember being horrified at the thought of anyone being president after Reagan. Who could ever fill that role like he was? Too much pressure, no way. I was kinda right.

Jillian Michaels was referencing the Fairness Doctrine which was basically a rule in place that enforced news networks to include opposing views on issues important to the Public. It was enforced by the FCC. Congress did not agree with getting rid of the rule and tried to codify by passing a Bill which Reagan then vetoed.

@@tyshekka yes. She has aged so gracefully, that she is better looking at her older age than when she was younger. No plastic surgery, if so, it's not noticable. She just is very classy looking older woman that doesn't look fake.

Julian, first time seeing your channel. Good job girlfriend! I felt like I was hanging out with friends look back on Regan years, only we were not ready to tear eachother apart just because we didnt have the same opinions.😢. I hope you do more stuff like this! I cant wait to see more!
Maybe we can once again, (agree) to disagree ) and still be friends afterwards!

In 1980 I watched from my hospital bed holding my brand new baby as he was sworn in as President of United States of America. The country was so hopeful. That was a time when the office was respected. I remember 8 years of feeling safe starting out newly married new mom and how he made you people like me wanna participate by serving. Regan told us to try reach up and don't settle for handouts from the government. Use benefits as a hand up and be proud you made it on your own.
I still miss him like a father figure.❤

Its is funny how people are different. I was raised in Democratic NJ and am the same age as these ladies. I watched the 1980 election... tgat actually had a 3rd party candidate. I watched the debates and even the Iran Contra hearings. I watched the Dan Quayle debate when i was 13 lol. Im weird

To the question as to "how do we go back". Get rid of the Bias media and let people decide what they want with the FACTS presented.
No opinion,. no slants, no lying by omission. Then and only then will we be able to heal as a country.
Back during Reagan's time in office we had media that presented the facts.
The Journalist were there to hold both sides accountable. Sadly, today neither side is be held accountable. Corrupt politicians
will continue to get away with all that they do. They should be working for us not the other way around.

  • @tyshekka

RE the ending of The Fairness Doctrine.
The FD meant that if guests with opinions were on a news program, either both sides had to be presented, or the other side had to be presented later. The FD did not stop a newspaper or news program from having a serious bias.
I watched Reagan give a speech af a rally, saying that he wanted people to get off welfare because dependency causes complacency. He said that he and his crowd knew that the news would report his speech as saying that he said he thought blacks were lazy.
The next evening, a panel on the news watched the first part of the clip of his paragraph, and then they said that his words were code for blacks being lazy. And the next part of the clip wasn't played.
The news organizations have for several decades been dishonest.

I as a parent the first time tried to be mostly neutral regarding politics in how I taught. I didn't know how much other relatives and his school were telling him how to be, until it was too late.
The way to be is teach your kids what you want them to think about and how to think critically, and what other people think, and try to be fair about what the other people think. Because probably somebody is going to start teaching your kids what they want, not just what really is.

LOVE the UA-cam channel and all your guests Jillian! I’ve been listening to your podcast since 2010 when I was dealing with crippling mental health issues. I cannot thank you enough for how much your content as well as your workout dvds (I own every one) have made a difference in my life and supported my recovery. Seeing you live for your maximize your life tour in 2012 in Ottawa was truly a highlight of my life. I am now a therapist working with people who are struggling with emotional eating and EDs, depression and anxiety and I attribute so much of my professional growth to your lessons and insights over the last several years ❤
