- We get a surprise call from an Ondura roofing representative offering to supply us with the needed roofing materials. Since Ondura was already in the plan, we are very appreciative. Now the roof can be completed. Take a look at Guys finishing up the job. Shae :P

Love the roof & skylight! Don't U just love it when a plan comes together!
Best of luck to Garen with the seasonal job...sounds like so much fun! The videos are looking great. The building ones are my favorite...Shae got any plans brewing for hers yet? Great job on the roof, and so glad you guys got the donation of some of the materials this time. I can see how the Ondura makes it easier to do all the odd curves and angles on these earthbag buildings.
I really like the tan color roofing -
Very cool roofing product, and nice that it holds its colour.
Best part of Friday, checking out progress on the homestead.
Christopher Oliver I totally agree
Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I like the look of this roofing material . Great news about them donating the roofing.
You boys are getting really efficient
that roofing looks great.
Great job on the skylight! That was a tough one. The only other idea I came up with was to take out the table saw and cut some of the edge pieces as flat as possible and work it up like siding. It would have looked more octagonal but like the boys said it as long as you were not back up there in two hours ripping it apart, you have a win! Now for the inside ceiling. Good Luck!
So exciting!
awesome job guys !!!
It's looking great, Y'all! I'm really looking forward to seeing the fireplace completed. 👏🏼👏🏼
YEAH Ondura!!!
I love the look of the roof Contour
watching your videos helps me relax
That's right the opened Snow Bowl nice area have fun .
Dude y'all are such a badass family, I really enjoy y'alls projects.
i want to live like this is spain/europe..im 50 and need to enter the final phase having fun with others..
The Ondura stuff looks great. I'm going to be doing my roof in a year or two. Think that might be the way to go.
I specially liked this video. A nice break in form of a gift, a roof, watching it come together, installed, and the trampoline ending is a cinematic art form at it's (best?) well very good.
Thank you :)
Sweet roof, thanks for posting, cant wait till next week
I worked at a Ski Resort for 2 seasons...It was a blast!
Sweet
Interesting that I did not see any insulation on the roof. Did I miss it? That would be a priority for me as I like being comfortable all the time and not using any cooling/heating if possible. But, I have learnt so much! Thanks for doing such detailed job with the recording every step.
I love your videos! keep it up! roof looks great!
It's looking great , thanks for the vid's ...
Button cap nails will help keep that tar paper down but not as fast as a staple guns.
You guys should save yourself some headaches and buy a Slaphammer Stapler for the Felt paper... there very adorable and will increase your speed
tiny bathroom and kitchen and thats a tiny home id cosider living in. each building you guys keep getting better👍👍
buena idea voy hacer casa en México good muy bien gracias por su invento .
theres a channel named Praxis Prepper. He has some pretty good set up for rain water catchment as well as extending water use. Being located where you are, one of his set up may help you with plant and animal watering.

Thanks for the update...
At first I thought you said "Andorra," as in the tiny European country. :^} That roofing material looks great! I may have to use it on Miss Lacey's stable, which (hopefully) will go up in the spring. Thx for another awesome vid!
Merry xmas from New Zealand
Awesome😍
These vids are awesome!
very nice...greetings from Germany :)
nice
Oops! Hit the wrong nail! Been there, done that. I roofed my sister's house in cold weather one year. My thumb was as numb as the rest of my hand, but that hammer made me feel the thumb real good every time I hit it. All part of a productive life. But it looks like the cold weather is coming to your area. Will you have to stop construction because of the weather?
Free roofing! Woot!
Your edits are improving as well; nice pacing, time lapses are good, music cues don't distract from the content. I'm a video editor (IATSE Local 700, inactive status) turned artist, so I've got a modicum of authority on the subject.
Lastly, are you near Tubac? I've got an old friend from the tv biz who's become a farmer in Tubac, along with his wife and kids. I bet he'd love to see your 'stead.
have you guys thought of using leaf lock gutters on your roof to collect rain water?
PS wish I could do what you guys are doing. I want to homesteed too. Johnny.
Your videos always go by too fast! Thanks for another great video!
Who is Cricket?
Hello family, I have been watching your videos for a while and in what part of the United States are they? You see little vegetation and it gives to think that it is a little arid, that type of construction adapts to wet zone? Thank you.
+Nora Romero
We are located in the American SW desert. Earth bag construction should work in most climates and areas. Water abatement is the key: diversion, French drain, channels, cover, etc.... These walls are dirt. Cover and diversion are the ways to protect. Temps can vary.
Is it safe to collect drinking water off the roof? Not sure about the material.
Do you know if it's safe for catching water off this material? We need a new roof on our Earthship.
I don't think I'd catch water off this roof, just due to the components inside the material. I think filtration does a lot, but the cleaner the start, the better, just IMO. I've been learning about Earthships...amazed at the thought that goes into those structures...very cool!

Not sure about drinking without perification
Thanks for the reply's I can send an email to the company and see what they say.
What happened to the skylight that mom was so proud of?
ElGatoLoco698 I think that was the skylight they put up at the end of the vid with flashing
Do you think the ondura roofing would hold up well against hail?
Ondura is complete rubbish. It softens when the sun shines on it and sags under it's own weight. Rain fills up any pockets and the weight of the water makes them bigger. I wouldn't use it again if I was paid to take it. It's the worst roofing material I've ever seen and I've seen shingles made from old beer cans.
Is it my imagination or are the walls starting to bend and bow? Couldn't tell if it was the camera angle, wide angle lens or geometry.
The walls have not moved since we fixed them. They have settled and hardened. What you see is the resulting organic shape. Extremely safe - it would take a bulldozer to take it down.
I keep wondering as I see you building that if you laid two layers of bags side by side and did a tandem set of rows up to about 4 feet and then a single width row (like you have done) from there up if they would be more sturdy, but that's just my suspicious nature and tendency to "over build" everything.
Walls did bow early on in the project from rain, but they've been more or less "straightened"
Looks like they did lots of reinforcing afterwards too, but yeah the walls do have an organic shape...
+Greg Gallop I've read that these structure meet the California earthquake building code. Very strong and very sturdy. Your idea would of course work i think, but not necessary. Earthbag structures are built in africa with no wooden roof. Bagged all the way to include roofing. it looks like an upside down bee hive. Very sound structures.
that pesci dog needs alot of attention..lol i would set the dog a food trail and send it foraging in a circle around the complex..
Did you do a laundry room?
+Robert Kolakowski
It is in the main house
Good Show!!
