You pour the acidic base into water and dilute it FIRST and the run it over your hair and repeat as necessary. The acid can destroy your hair. Just FYI.
This is silly. Vinegar and baking soda always react this way, including on freshly cleaned hair. I pour vinegar and soda down all of my drains each month and to clean calcium build up in coffee maker.
No it really does work. It’s just that this lady using way too much and your not supposed to pour it on the hair your supposed to mix it in a bowl and dip it in

I had locs a decade and never “detoxed” them once because I didn’t have a so-called location intent on using a bunch of gels and other garbage products to start or maintain them. How that became the mainstream of loc maintenance I’ll never know but you don’t need all that garbage in your locs leading to build up so you have to go for a detox!
I ain’t gone lie I didn’t at first , yea I’m white but I did use a lil beeswax cause I kept having to go get a maintenance which is just her re doin what has come out but I did put beeswax once, but I don’t want them to be forever nasty, I’m kinda unfamiliar with beeswax, my wife who is brown she told me to just in the beginning to get them to lock and it seemed to hold but I don’t know much about what’s good or bad any advice ill take
@@JeremyGSmith I had locs twice over about 14 years, both my kids had them and one still does. From those experiences, esp my 20something kids with beeswax and gels so-called stylists, barbers and loctitions were using in their highly textured hair, all I can say is the less the better. If you can’t see through it and the product isn’t liquid at room temperature it will leave build up in your hair that’s impossible to completely remove no matter what bs is on the label. I tried on my youngest one time he was home it had gotten so bad and with freshly washed and oiled hair you can really mask buildup (don’t believe all the detox videos) i spent hours using Dawn to break up that junk. A couple days later when his hair was completely dry it went from looking 90% gone to more like 60%. A great improvement but still visible rings of buildup from each retwist appointment. My oldest brother who has soft fine curly hair had locs for more than 30 years. Never saw buildup in his and I know my bare minimum hygiene brother-all he did was wash his hair and maybe use some oil now and then. Good luck on your loc journey and finding what works for you but that may be more manipulation with hooks, combs or matting tools than product.
*lemon juice* is actually good for cleansing anything especially when you mix it with vinegar to take away the smell as much as possible because of the acidity
You are correct. They should have poured a small amount into the basin first and diluted it with water. Then pour over locs and soak them. Repeat if necessary.
Using Dawn soap helps me a lot. You don’t have to worry about hurting your neck or getting horizontal just to deep clean. I do at least a couple lathers and rinses to be sure my buildup is taken care of. I also stay completely away from cream based leave ins, heavy gels, and stick to oils and liquid solutions and serums. Anyone wondering about dryness after using Dawn, plz incorporate hot oil treatments into your regimen. Also, PLZZ INVEST IN HYALURONIC ACID FOR YOUR LOCS OR EDGES; it’s doing wonders for my hair after I’ve experienced loc root breakage during the solidifying portion of my journey. Speaking on hyaluronic acid, immediately after your cleanse, spritz a mixture of 2 parts hyaluronic acid to 3 parts water to DAMPEN your hair, then get some JBCastor Oil, some rosemary oil, and some peppermint or rose hip oil, apply generously to locs. APPLY JUST CASTOR OIL TO SCALP ONLY TO AVOID OTHER OILS INTERACTING TOO MUCH WITH SEBUM PRODUCTION. Wrap DAMP (not drenched) and generously oiled hair to create some natural humidity and heat. Do not rinse out your oils until it’s time for your next wash day! I usually leave my oil treatment wrapped up for about a half hour to an hour depending on time, then release and let air dry.
@@sandjoy54 it just removes oils, and dirt from your hair. It’s more common to get a detox when you have locs because it’s harder to clean then normal straight hair.
I'm afraid to do this. Did it many years ago when my hair was limp and it broke off! Left me with such a bad state of hair that I had to cut it off evenly to like half an inch. Still don't know what went wrong but now I won't believe anything on UA-cam.
Sooo, if you were to put bicarbonate soda directly onto your skin, let's say under your arms, it will burn your skin. I cannot imagine combining these chemicals directly onto hair/the scalp. Wouldn't it be better to combine the mixture and dissolve the soda then soak the hair in it??
