- Check out my favorite travel luggage and use my code BENGRAVY for 10% off: www.clkmg.com/.... I’ve never gotten out of the water from being too cold while surfing in my life. I've always been the guy that squeezes every single last drop of stoke out of every session. For the first time in my life I got out, because the conditions were literally too cold for me to withstand. I've very stoked to share this once in a lifetime experience while surfing in subzero temps, white out blizzard conditions here in Nova Scotia. The best part is that this is only day 1 of the trip! More to come, for the dream! - Ben

What an epic novelty surfing sesh. A sight I have never seen before! Surfing while it is snowing! Minus 8 temps! Right on Ben! Still the King of Novelty surfing now and forever!!
This is what we love about this channel!
Had to give props to editing team again, this one is cinema! Kino. The music was so perfectly paired with the Nova Scotian landscape and fully nuking surf. Beautiful work boys! If you soend time in Melbourne this year I owe y'all a steak dinner, safe travels wherever you land.
Lived in Maine, made a couple of treks into Nova Scotia late 1990's, early 2000's to surf. It was great in the fall with hurricane swells. Went once in dead of winter, thinking it wouldn't be any more harsh than Maine, 6/5/4, 7mm boots, 7mm lobster gloves. It was so nasty cold. And mean. Thick, thick slabs. It was good on the right wave but sitting out there solo I started to get too spooked to catch any more waves. Called it after maybe an hour.
So glad to see you in Canada again Ben. Always welcome here! Bring Jamie with you next time. Lol
My home break for about 5 years circa 1996-2001. I still talk to all my good friends who still surf near Halifax. They were stoked Ben showed up.
Ben!!! Welcome to Nova Scotia!!!...and you picked just about the gnarliest time of year to be here.! You're in good hands with Logan though...he knows the breaks around here. Never thought you'd come up here bro! What was the motivation?...and this time of year??? Anyhow, have a great time while you're here. Would've been nice to meet you after all these years but I don't want to get in the way of your production and fun. Just cool to know that you're just around the corner from me. I hope you come back sometime in the future during the season that I surf in like May - November. I don't have the gear to get out in the winter and I'm not good enough to surf the breaks where you were.
Sorry to hear about Rob and his friend's woes with flying and I hope the waves perk up for them when they finally get out. Stoked that you're here bro. Take care, John 🤙✌
Hey Ben, if you want to come back in the summer, I'd like to invite you to attend a local fun surf comp. Reply if you're interested. No worries if you're too busy but the invite stands just the same. Fan since May 20th, 2017. You're the #1 reason I'm surfing these days! Cheers, John
Super fun waves! 🏄♂️ How about no! 🥶
I really like this episode. When I'm pussing out in 40° air 55 degree water.
I look at this blizzard and say to myself.( Ben would go!)
Legend. You now have 3 provinces. Awesome video!! Incredible footage!!
Hands down the best surf youtuber/influenser, I don't understnd how you don't have 1M+ subscribers?! Feels like a lot of the others just wanna show off how heavy waves they can surf in tropical weather, gets kind of boring to watch after a few videos IMHO!
Dude, all that falling snow in the clips is so fu*kin sick. One of the raddest sessions you've filmed! As a Fl native, anyone can drop a few dollars on a longboard and surf in nice weather, but surfing in these conditions is a true testament to the love of the sport. I hope I have the chance to shred a spot like this some day.
surfing isn't a sport, it's a lifestyle
@CourageToGroww insert the "why not both?" gif. 😁
glassy, no one out, violin jam, blizzard. well done.
It takes a special kind of stoke to get out in those conditions. Thanks Ben for sharing the whole picture. These waves look sick 🤙
@@maximebessontrue surfers look for great waves . Don't care about temperature
Definitely does. I don’t think I could do it myself or want to do it. I can’t stand putting and wearing a wetsuit especially a full suit with gloves boots and head gear. I will wear a spring suit with long sleeves at most. Normally just a rash guard for my stomach and sun.
@EMan-cu5zo I tried getting in a pool in February 98 in Gulf Shores Alabama with a 5 mil full body wetsuit. Still couldn't handle it. But it's bearable once you build up the body heat. Even out in the middle of the pacific in Hawaii gets chilly after awhile. Same as Bahamas in May
@@EMan-cu5zo hopefully the boots have some grip because surfboard wax has got to be hard in that condition.
@@markdinkel-uh2je I lived right outside New York on long island for about 9 months mostly during the summer. Waves were surprisingly good so I had to buy a full suit. You can’t really wear a bathing suit with them so I was butt naked but trying to cover myself with a towel on the side of the road. So hard to get on and off especially if still wet. I was worried I would get an indecent exposure charge. Paddling with it was a big difference and was a pain in the butt. Of course this was back in 2007 and I hope they have better more flexible materials. That was the main reason I couldn’t stand it. It kept me warm though because the water was cold and somedays the air temp was in the low 50s during part of my time there. Still have it hanging I’m my closest.
Your life is looking beautiful Gravy. Keep on keepin on!
Even with the editing I knew from the thumbnail. Nice job getting up and out there.
Stoked! NS is on my bucket list of places to surf.
do it
Lots of sharks and mean locals
@@AlexanderBoutilier that’s normal where I’m from. We get the same weather as well
Recognize a few of those points! Glad you scored some nice waves! The cold keeps the crowds down lol. I drive home and change in the shower.
for this one rare occation of filming in snow blizard you want a yellow lenz!
just like ski googles, works the same way
Best editing we have ever seen you do!!!
*Brother, scoring like this in Canada is ICONIC. Hats off 🤙🏼*
A bit crowded by Canadian standards as soon as there were 3 in the lineup eh? We went somewhere else.... had we known you were Americans we woulda paddled out & hit you with some hardcore localism..... as in, instant respect for anyone else crazy enough to paddle out in a snowstorm sober.
hahaha epic
That colour change on the wave was intense!! Thanks for bringing us one of the best edits so far in 2025! Yeeaahhh Brahhh! 🤙🏼
Always wondered why Ben didn’t go to NS more often. Close enough and has a tonne of spot. Just cold.
Thats crazy!! I felt cold just watching😂 great images & surf!!🥶🥶
Winter surf sessions is for hard core surfers only! Ice cream headachs are insane. Like you know if you surf in the morning your cold all day or until you get to a hot shower. Wetsuits never dry so the next morning is nuts then getting in the 48-52 degree water here in HB is for the true surfer. Come on summer. Good waves Ben
.....LBCko
So good to see Rob back on the vlog!
I know very well those surf spots in Nova Scotia…..
Aloha from Halifax, NS, Canada.
Cold snaps!
Wow, that is rad. The water has to be a lot warmer than outside ya? Love seeing this. You are awesome.
Can’t be any colder that’s for sure.
water is currently 2 deg Celsius
@bobcatzilla7837 mucho frio 🥶 🧊
Great video. Took a while, but glad you finally enjoyed that beautiful right.
no waves here lads... no waves here...
Lookin forward to the next videos boys psyched to see ya’s at our home breaks 🤙🏽 maybe come in the fall next year when it’s actually warm lol. But winter is the best
Ben, they do make warmer places to surf
Surfing in that snowstorm was surreal!
Duuuuuude that vest is 🔥🔥🔥 we gonna get a Ben gravey one🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽 for the dream
Hopefully catch a few more rights on the next vlog. Enjoy our cobblestone shores dude.
🙌
It looked like a never ending swell…I wish it would snow here in Newport! 🤙🏼
I gotta give it to ben he’ll paddle out with nobody else with freezing temperatures big balls
Man - good way to wake up in the morning
Not sure about big balls in frigid water. 😂😳
@@AtortAerials😂 they are about to your stomach I would think. Your pecker will not even be turtle heading. Make you worry if the little guy is alright.
Super gravy
You made it!
Dude wheres my car????? And then....... lovin the blizzard bro !!!
@@davebradley7809 haha!
It's like watching 1950's TV, all that snow.
@11:13 "corduroy to the horizon."
Rad! It was NUKING!
Gotta do the airtags in the bags.
I am cold watching this.
Got Level 8 Luggage as well. Best rolling suitcases ever!
Heavy claims 🔥
sick work ! where exactly ? i went this summer, waves where a bit weak ! nowhere near what you had
Coool fun !!! By saying cool, maybe cold, maybe very cold, maybe ice cold freaking freezing
If this wasn’t an ad to buy a hyperflex suit then i dk what is 🥶🥶🤙🏼
Does Smith make goggles for the kinda conditions? If so get em as a sponsor….. come on Benny Bro!!!
At first I was questionable considering those conditions myself but then after first wave I was jealous 😂
Been wondering when you would do a nova Scotia trip!
The ice cone is coming
❤❤
Yew!
sick
You know that the conditions are crazy when your camera keeps throwing focus on the snowfall lol
Hey Ben tell us how many feet between high and low tide?
Luggage is slick I know expensive though? Would have been cool pun intended to send drone up with snow would be epic I would have done it for sure!
This wave looks funny
10mil. 😂From Florida 💪🏻🤙🏼
Gnarly. Hope you got another ws.
looks super fun, but shiverpool cold
If the temps are -8 what temperature is the water. Nice waves in crazy looking weather
It’s 1.5c I think that’s 33f
It's never an adventure until they put your stuff on a different plane and it ain't there when you arrive!
sick, i took my dog for a walk on the same beach the day before that snow. It gets really foggy there as well, that is a trip surfing alone in the fog. Enjoy the cold, brain freeze is for real.
was cody maverick in the line up????
🥶Nova Scotia???😳👍💪👏👏👏
New scotland
Where’s the foil?! Holy , perfect waves to rip on a foil
I'm sure the nova scotia boys are thrilled.
Firing for the dream! 🤙💦
Yo Ben I'm freezing watching from my cozy warm couch your absoutly insane you should replace your pineapple logo to a polar bear logo with a sombraro!!!instead of "for the Dream" it should be "for the frosty"!!!!!!
Fearless claiming is freezing the braining. 🧠
If someone can figure out how to prevent brain freeze, winter surfing would be a heck of a lot more fun.
Keep your mouth closed.
❤ from Maine
@@lonbordin but how do i get my suit to not let a little water in each wipeout
@@colter7300 lift weights, fill out your suit.
Too cold for the 6/5 Cryo? thats cold
Thankfully-8 Celsius. Would be suicidal to go out in negative 0 and below f. I am sure people might try it but I would imagine you need a dry suit and that’s still not enough.
6/5 8mil boots, 7mil mitts. Change at home. Water feels warm (slightly above freezing). -8c is pretty typical dead of winter noreaster but it gets colder sometimes... Good suit, no holes, it's ok. Thins the crowds.
Team meme blowing up the spot. 🙄
Not available
I guess "cold" is just "cold"
The trick I always did was put the wetsuit in a hot tub of water and put it on while standing in the tub.
-8°C??? Oh heeeell nah
As a tropical country surfer, with nice weather most of the year, I really wonder if I could surf that cold without getting sick.
Cold weather doesn't cause sickness, it will cause hypothermia
Nova Scotia!! Yeah, was waiting for a video from famous UA-cam Surfers :)
Savages
Cow Bay?
Dont think so... close tho.
🫖🏠
You guys are MEN! I find it annoying to have to wear a wetsuit in SoCal.
Hottie
What part of Nova Scotia are you. I'm 5 minutes from Cherry Hill Beach. They have a lot of surf schooling here and 10 minutes from another huge break surfing.
Welcome to Our Home. Be Safe and Enjoy.
-8C is a warm day for Canadian winter.
Weird flex but ok
trunk weather for those of Viking descent
