What I would suggest is posting longer video's such as this with the acceleration feature that allows the viewer to speed up the video in increments of 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, & 2.0x. The audio is still understandable at these speeds but the viewer can get through the entire presentation faster. Excellent video by the way! 👍

    Hey folks? I am from Brazil and here these KKK27 or K27 turbos are very distant, but we are migrating to a better turbocharger in all aspects which is superior to the k27 which is from the Auto Avionics A366, A372 brand, if I'm not mistaken it is used here on John tractors Deere, it has the same quality as the Garrett, sorry for any mistake, I'm using google translator, sensational video, I liked it.

    • @pddofficial
      @pddofficial  3 роки тому

      Those turbos are very similar the Box Borg Warner S366. They make great power but at terribly lazy and slow spooling on a 5.9L12v Cummins. They came from a 7 liter John Deere diesel engine which makes them decent performance turbo but TERRIBLE towing/street use turbo for a 12v Cummins.

I have had it 2 weeks and purchased a 4"magnaglow turbo back exhaust,also a new s&b cold air intake and a edge evolution cts3 programmer.Before I go crazy with the old girl I'm going to upgrade the torque converter and do some tweaks to the valve body.

      Haha, I have about the same exact mods on my 06.
      5" turbo back silver line exhaust, edge comp, some plastic CAI tube, can't remember the brand and I wrapped it in dei gold heat shield mat stuff, put a BHAF filter on there and that's all.
      Threw the mods on in the first 2 weeks, and blew the trans up 2 months into owning it. So be careful... And that was years ago with only 55k miles.
      Had the trans swapped out for a full billet Goerend trans, and have been hot rodding it since. 9 years strong on her now. No issues, other than all the consumable axle parts. Currently has 144k miles on it.
      Will run 0-60 in 5.8 seconds in 2wd, still scared to try a 4wd launch. 13.7 1/4 mile 2wd.

    I used the same PDD kit on my 12 valve swap in my 98 K3500 along with a K27. Big difference over stock power. Actually popped my HG recently but I think it was my fault as I didn't do a hot retorque on the studs. Very curious to see what papasaurus gets on the dyno. Can't wait to see. BTW, dad is still loving the mods on his 2005!

    Great video! Now I know what I'm going to do in the spring. But when you're removing and tightening the nut for the pump to advance the timing is the plastic lock pin strong enough to hold it. I would think it would snap off.

    Awesome video guys, really love that you got back into your old style of step by step videos but I would have thought for that kind of power you would need to run a good lift pump such as your predator lift pump and also a few other mods such as a Mack rack plug and a tork tech adjustable over flow valve on the pump?
    Anyway needless to say I think the tranny will be the next thing on the must do list now haha.

      I have a single K27 turbo 12V, custom intake and that's ALL. Not even gov. springs yet. My truck flies haha and of course no smoke. These trucks are amazing. I had my auto trans done by an awesome, experienced builder just to make sure it could take the beating of ripping around and towing anything. Yesterday I just put an AFC Live on my friends 12V (that someone put injectors on before). His truck is even faster than mine. When the roads are a little damp the rear wheels break loose in 5th gear now... before only 4th. I can't believe these engines.

    I really enjoyed the video . I wish I had this video back when I did some of these things to my truck . Damn I was hoping that every things would work out back then. Timing was the big thing that made a huge difference in mileage . Back then you burn a hole in the piston. I told them it was my truck and my business . Set the timing to 17.5 or 18 . I found for me when I went to the 215 injectors on my 160 hp engine that the thinner washers seem to idle better . That just me . The 3 k governor kit what a difference lol . I be interested in a better turbo if you make one for towing and may be 275 or 300 hp . I have a 10 plate all the way forward . Is there a benefit from the fluid damper on a stock 12 that want ever see over 3200 or less . Also I might be interested in better head bolts or studs if it would help . I use my egt gauge and watch my water temp especially towing in Colorado . Thanks for you videos and advice

    • @pddofficial
      @pddofficial  3 роки тому +1

      The fluid dampr does make the engine run smoother everywhere. They are fairly expensive so lots of guys wait but after adding one, you'll wonder why you didn't get one sooner! As far as better EGT while towing in the mountains, we are currently testing several turbos for that specific need. The Borg K27 will drop you EGT about 100 degrees under the exact same fueling/load conditions. We are playing with some Holset HX35/40 variants and will have those videos out in the next month, so far we've found even more EGT control than the K27 in some of the factory Holset turbine wheel designs combined with a little bigger compressor on the HX35.
