Brutal draw for Serena which shows why she is the GOAT. She had to go through Kvitova, Stosur, Azarenka, Li and Henin to win this Slam while carrying TWO injuries throughout the tournament. What’s even more insane is that she was able to win the doubles title with Venus which was their third Slam in a row (they would later win the French Open that year to hold all four majors in doubles). Absolute master class tennis from Serena this entire tournament- she knew she had to play her best and serve well if she wanted to have any chance to win, and she did. Like Djokovic did this year. Legend stuff.
Stosur and Li lost to 39-year-old Kimiko Date in 2010. Henin never made the top 10 again during her ill-fated return in 2010. Kvitova was not even top 50 at that time.
The draws they’ve thrown at Serena over the years are why I stopped believing they’re at random. I get the way the seeds are placed but too many coincidences on stacking the deck with specific players hoping to trip her up.
Serena had to work to get this win and Li always does well in Australian Open. She deserve the final she won in later years. Great highlights. Thank you .!
Yes Serena had to beat Kvitova, Stosur, Azarenka, Li Na and Henin to win the title. All these players are grand slam champions plus she was carrying an injury in the tournament too so was a tough Grand Slam win for her. It took her five years to win title again because of injuries. She didn't play in 2011 and 2012, 2013 & 2014 she was injured.
@@marfu1119she got pretty lucky to get past vika, vika choked a couple games and to Serena’s credit she turned on the burners after and was able to run away with the rest of the match. The final against Justine was awesome, I think Justine won like 12 straight points in the second set right after coming out of retirement
@@marfu1119 In 2012 and 2013 she played bad against Makarova and Stephens, in 2014 Ana outplayed her! Stop making injurie excuses! Anyone can have the bad day at the office, even the goat.
@@jboww2121I would not say lucky in the slightest, Azarenka played her second set tiebreak to her maximum ability and was still outplayed by a 60% capacity Serena. Third set would’ve been way closer it was “luck” involved.
Only due to injuries, really. 2011- could not play due to clotting. 2012- admitted she shouldn’t have played after destroying her ankle/calf. 2013- her cleanest ball striking ruined by severe ankle sprain in R1, bank injury in QF. 2014- back injury in 2R. 2015- moderately healthy
@@db200508 I agree. The fit of the dress is very suspect and the material looks cheap. Also, contrary to popular opinion, I was never a fan of block coloring on Serena (one color dress, a different color headband and wristbands). I always preferred more ambitious designs and cuts on Serena as opposed to the really basic ones.
I thought Serena might win her 8 Australian Open this year. Although she played good by getting to the Semi final it was not the old Serena and Osaka exposed that. She looked slow and her serve was not like what it was

They don’t make em like Serena no more
A brutal draw indeed. They tried to stack the deck but Serena is way above an average champion. . That draw would've shut any other player out.

You're welcome 💕
Queen Serena injured but shut down a heap of top players for AO 2010 - singles/doubles.
Miss these kind of great matches nowadays. The intensity and stroke making is literally enthralling. 🤩🤩❤️
This AO was such a difficult win for Serena it took her years to claim the title again.

Serena had my blood pressure extremely high during this grand slam
Yellow/orange looks really good on Rena. Prolly my favourite AO outfit from Nike on Serena.
Me too, til this day that's my favorite outfit that Serena has wear
2015 kit is greatest of all time.
I hated this look. It’s so unflattering to me. Great color but the neckline doesn’t look good and the fit seems off.
@@stetsonthomas8327 2015 look was fire! I was mad she didn’t keep that look in US open. But yes it was the best

Love and miss Li Na!!!
Serena said you beat venus a day ago, you ain't gonna beat me today, today, today. 🎾🎾🎾🎾🎾
This match was a war of attrition.
Great match from Serena!
The best of all time ❤🎉😅
the point at 15:40 wth. Li Na was playing full Grand Slam champion level here but Serena defended all those attacks!
Yesss Serena! 7-6/7-6
