The first 4 doctors were all brilliant in their own way and it went downhill after that. Each one of them brought a new quality to the role that also didn't crap on the others. Delgado MADE The Master and the only other person who did it any justice at all was Anthony Ainley. Anybody else in that role has been an insult to Delgado.
At last, somebody who thinks as I do! The first four Doctors were brilliant, and it was down hill after Baker. Delgado was the best Master ever, and Ainley was second best.
The special rapport between all the cast is so evident during this era. I've loved the show ever since but it has never recaptured that unique quality since. Long live King Jon!
For many years within fandom this scene was known as the portaloo TARDIS disguise, however many were confused as to why it had taken on this form whilst inside Axos.
in fact I suspect that this entire serial has been manufactured purely as an attempt to discredit the Master as a legitimate Anti-imperialist force. Despite his faults, he has always been a friend to the Clangers, and indeed, other non-human indigenous societies like the Earth Reptiles, who where despite the claims of the news media, only defending their bunkers from human imperialism, or the Daleks, who's attitudes to crime we have a lot to learn from: have you ever seen graffiti on Skaro: I think not. this is because it is a cohesive community, where any unruly youths are quite rightly taken round the back of the house away from the meddling human social workers, and exterminated. They then often exterminate the social workers as well.
@@mrsbluecactus183 Not always. Anthony Ainley was taller than Sylvester McCoy. If you are talking about Delgado, he never appeared alongside the other doctors but would have been taller than McCoy also.
Pertwee was 6'3" (190.5 cm). That's up where the air is thin all right. I met him briefly in the early 90's; I'm 6'1" and there aren't a whole lot of people that I have to look up at!
Watching this years later after having first seen it on TV, I am surprised at the elaborate set. Especially for a low budget BBC TV series in the early 70's.
The first four Doctors were all so believable. So alien ... And Roger Delgado was evil personified! 53 years on, there's Jodie bloody Whittaker, and Ncuti Gatwa! ... Give me bloody strength!
Jordanisntheboss well he’s been having a hard time restoring it to working order, and he’s also wary for any other tricks and safeguards the timelords installed.
I think much as I liked ROger Delgado Master he was overused in season 8 and similarly the same thing happens again in science fiction in Blake's Seven with the arch-villain Servalan in season4 in the way she like the Delgado Master appeared too frequently and there were stories where neither Servalan and or the Master really needed to be there
Love the modern idea that tardises are meant to have 6 pilots, so the master just stood and watched to be a dick.
This is why I love Pertwee era. Delgado was the best master and Pertwee was surely one of the best doctors.

True, It has been said that Pertwee left the series partly due to Delgado's death.
And in addition to that the Claws of Axos is one of the best Dr. Who episodes.
Pertwee is my favourite incarnation Doctor along with Christopher Eccleston. Two underrated versions of the Doctor.
Good choices them
"i shall miss *you* "
wow savage
He said the same to Liz Shaw in Inferno just before going a few seconds ahead in time and a few hundred yards due east. 😼
Roger Delgado was so brilliant.
The Master’s TARDIS is a unique disguise in this story....a white cupboard
What's the Axom
The Doctor I think it’s meant to be the default appearance
For many years within fandom this scene was known as the portaloo TARDIS disguise, however many were confused as to why it had taken on this form whilst inside Axos.
The Masters TARDIS in this story is awesome as a white cupboard and the Master's TARDIS is a later and more advanced model than the Doctor's
It hardly blends in!
An underrated story. It's amazing! I even love the cheap-ness of the TARDIS.
I know. Some people even hate The Claws of Axos, but it's one of my favourites.
Axos is such an underated antagonist. I've been hoping it would reappear in the new series.
Forgot how much I loved the set design in this episode.
Solidus-Skully The Axos living ship looks incredible, and believably organic looking, for such a low budget!
The Axos ship looks like an indoor adventure playground I used to go to as a kid.

2:04 there's a lot of dust on top of that thing...doesn't The Doctor ever do any housekeeping?
Well it's obvious Polly isn't around anymore
Domihork I was going to say that :(
The TARDIS has a huge interior as shown in Castravalva, with many rooms not used for centuries.
He has Jo for that 😊
One of my favorite story in the 3rd Doctor
If only we could have had Peter Capaldi wear that outfit
I always thought that this master was tall, I guess compared with the third doctor he's short
Did anyone notice that he's always shorter than the Doctor?

Jon Pertwee, the universe rest his soul, was crazy tall.
He was taller on the inside!
This story was my first exposure to Doctor Who, when "Claws" was one or two years old. I was hooked right away.

the dr led the master into a trap, love it LOL
R.I.P. Royston Farrell (1937 - 2017).
They should bring Axos back
Maybe so.e distant cousin of the saxons. Thatd be good
I love the way The Master works a nice Nehru jacket. It is the perfect sartorial accompaniment to his well modulated villainy.
Jo was my first crush
I wonder how long it took the Third Doctor to re-learn the takeoff sequence after the Time Lords wiped his memory of how to use the TARDIS 🤔
Did they wipe his memory or did they just remove the dematerialisation circuit?
@@CNYTE Wiped his memory
Roger Delgado was the BEST
one of my fav's!
The way The Third Doctor just agrees to this is because of his voice and attitude!
Loved this episode brilliant writen
the most beautiful sound... the TARDIS sounds
Now that’s!!!!!!..... Doctor Who!! 👍😎
2:00 You'd think they'd dust the props now and again!
Polly isnt there anymore!
This was the first Doctor Who serial I ever saw.
Anyone else think that Joe looks kind of hot in this story or is it just me?
It is just you. Carry on.
@@davidthedeaf She always looked good
"I will miss you most of all Scarejo."
I always hate how careful he is with the Tardis, like I know it is a very important machine but he acts like it is a piece of glass
Yeah I was waiting for some sort of dramatic pulling of levers or pressing of buttons. He barely did anything with it.
Jordanisntheboss well he’s been having a hard time restoring it to working order, and he’s also wary for any other tricks and safeguards the timelords installed.
Don’t mess with the real master
I like this one
这两真的配一脸😂❤️
Love jon pert wee and his girl hes,so fine.
why does the master always have a ridiculous tardis he's had a clock and a fucking cupboard as a tardis lmfao
Chameleon Circuits can't win - they're damned if they work, and damned if they don't :)
The Master quiet the mechanic😉
0:47 Can anyone tell me what's going on through those doors? I haven't seen this episode.
The tardis doors closing
Jo so fine .
i wonder why the 1st roundels is still here
That wobbly time rotor on the TARDIS console makes it look so CHEAP.
well DW was on a tight budget back then.
Wibbly wobbly timey wimey... rotor lol
Lol.
That's literally half the charm of the show imo
I don't remember this one.
Haha

I know, right? Why was Servalan herself personally going on so many dangerous missions???
Give the Doctor a set of fake plastic fangs and he'll pass off as an old timey vampire from a b-rated movie
Oh come on, you Earthlings have all manner of weird names. Maybelline? Bronx? Shelley?
The Latest
This is a disaster area!!!
I'm sorry but those demat levers were so unnecessary.... Like that's just awkward 😂
Funny to think they’re gay for each other
This is what I call Dr Who, not that embarrassing shite with Jodie Whittaker.
What do you people have against Jodie Whittaker??
The days before all this P.C. bullshit did not ruin the storyline
