Jon likes more sliders than a Texas Applebee's on Friday night. Jon wants a slider that controls the number of sliders, and he wants that slider to be all the way to the right.
I've never owned a console, to me they're plug-and-play computers that you buy for convenience rather than flexibility and power. That doesn't mean PCs are better, they're just different.
i am a pc gamer, doing a little stellaris, but i am also happy PAradox are experimenting by porting this to consoles and i am happy for the conole people to finally get a "proper" grand strategy. Switch port next?
I’m so glad this game came to console, first game I’ve ever pre-ordered. Maybe getting it 2 days before a 2 and a half hour accountancy exam wasn’t the smartest decision but everything’s fine
I remember the tile system! There's never enough bonus energy to rely on putting power generation only on those tiles. It's worth prioritizing energy production on blank tiles and sometimes even tiles with bonus food.
In case anyone is wondering first DLC is out on 26th we get the delicious vegetarian option in the form of plantoids, on 16th April we get meat eaters platter in the form of Leviathans, on the 21st May we get friendship over in the form of multiplayer and in summer we all come together in Utopia.
got this port last week at launch, been obsessed ever since. if they release a crusader kings console port i'm touching myself, the clean-up would be truly epic and gross.
I was so so excited for this I was very lucky to get to preorder this!! I've wanted stellaris forever mostly from your Mighty Duck play through! Still the best series on UA-cam IMO
Reach for the stars was actually a really old 4x game not unlike stellaris or similar but in the older turn based style On the back of the box it had a web address they originally owned but then it got bought by an "adult movie star" :D you can imagine my shock as a young teen going to the site to get game tips :D
I'm LOVING this on console. Also playing on a One X, I'm 200 years into my first empire and while I do get the odd stutter it is generally very smooth. Now if the galaxy can just band together to fight off the unbidden...
Seems odd that they implemented the hyperlane-only system from 2.0 without also changing the way that fallen empires determine their distance from you--in 2.0 that FE wouldn't have cared unless the system you claimed was actually attached to a hyperlane leading directly into their territory.
Even setting aside the in-game improvements, because Stellaris 1.7 was a fun game I enjoyed at the time, I'm worried being five patches behind will make it hard for people to get help. Though easier than other Paradox games, Stellaris can still be tricky to figure out. So much has changed in those five patches that online information and guides aimed at the latest PC version is going to be of dubious help for the console version. I consult the wiki all the time, despite being an experienced player; are those kinds of online resources going to be available for the console version?
Quill18 has done a series on the console edition already. Somehow I doubt that finding help will be difficult- the consoles may be less powerful but they allow access to a Huuuge number of potential customers who will have never thought of getting a gaming PC. This edition could very easily outsell the PC edition based on the customer base alone.
I was talking with a friend last night about how I hoped they would bring Stellaris, or any grand strategy game in general, to console and they done did it! Bless you Jon for this gift 🙏
Had the game since launch and 1st game I got an end game crisis Jon is likely not to see (I had to Jon) the Scourge, fleet power of 35k per fleet my fleet 22k, my federation buddy 24k, federation fleet 26k, fallen Empire 80k, we got wiped out, my advice for any new players turn end game crisis off for your first few games so you get the hang of the game, also play on Ironman as that's how you get achievements/trophies.
Jon, this is the standard console edition, the other console bundle (I think its the deluxe but unsure on name, its the £49.99 option) comes with plantoids, leviathan and utopia. I'll be getting it tomorrow.
Its strange, I only know Stellaris from the 2.2x branch as that's when I got into it, its odd seeing a game that is familiar, whilst the way it works isn't! Jon, I hope you continue this into a series, perhaps not weekly, but every now and again, play some off screen and give us an update say after another 20 years or so with how its holding up, like you, I'd be interested to see how well it scales into the mid and late game.
The wiki does not mention this at all, and I've never seen it since the switch over. Are you sure it wasn't part of an event chain? I can't Google someone else saying this has happened either
Kind of conforming to see that even though Jon has been playing this game for years now on PC, he ran into some of the same problems I did concerning energy and other things even though I'm a first-time player.
Hi. Thank you for this review video. This game (console version) is on sale right now and it seems fun, but not yet 100% sure if I buy it (: I have few questions: (1 how long one (single player) game usually lasts in hours? (2 does this game get repetive aka: After I play two or three (single player) games do I start to see same events again and again? I wish this game had some sort of manual xD lot of things and icons on the screen but this video serves as fine tutorial as how basic things work in this game. Also this video gave impression that it is enjoyable on console (: even when PC version has more content.
I'm really glad this came to consoles tbh. I've really wanted to play it byt my laptop isn't quite good enough. While the game being at 1.7 because thats where development for it started is understandable. A number of DLC being released as season pass content with the deluxe edition os kind of annoying. I'm hoping that it eventually comes up to a similar lvl of the pc versio n with 2.0 because I'd love to see synthetic dawn and mega corps on the console version too. We're not going to see utopia till at least the summer apparently
Hey Jon, do you think you will do a playthrough or how to play series on the console edition for everyone to enjoy? It could possibly get more people into playing it that prefer console over PC. I bought it and enjoying it a lot but it is so different from 2.0. I am hoping they will catch it up to 2.0 but it would be awesome to get serious for pointers on the console edition.
I'm having fun with it. So far, as my created Forerunner Empire, an Oligarch government that is Xenophile, Materialist, militarist. I have expanded in to the Sol system, where i found a primitive society on Sol 3 (Earth.)
After watching Jon play Stellaris I've been wanting go play it. However I have a PS4 and can't afford a high-end PC at the moment and I'm terrible at mouse and keyboard. So I plan on getting this. Sure it may not be as good as the PC version, but I can at least play Stellaris now.
I havent seen war in heaven, however fallen empires do rise again, also there are megastructures good examples would be the cybrex, or the santuary system which have ringworlds
I love how it started as a critique of the game, commenting a lot on how the game worked, and slowly the commentary became totally engrossed in the game and the drama of the otters...
So no one is going to point out the fact that Jon said that there were no dlc yet the first alien empire he meets is a Megacorp? You know, the new empire type only available in the new dlc?
But it's only an empire tag at this stage, they are in no way an actual megacorp ala the DLC. If the game sells well enough on console Paradox have said they would like to bring more dlc over, but only time will tell.
This works for me! I don't like playing games on my PC, that machine is for work not fun in my mind. And I don't mind playing a more limited version of a game on the console if it means I have a game to actually play!! So console Crusader Kings next???? 😁
i want this game but i want all the bells and whistles in the current version. i'm still going to buy it but i think i'll wait a few months to see if it changes any.
The first 3 DLC (plantoids, leviathans and utopia) are set to release in March, May and the summer respectively. Hopefully we'll see some more optimization and ui improvements from them.
So, the verdict? Do I wait till I upgrade my computer, then buy Stellaris, and it's multitude of expansions, for what must be well over 100$ total now? Or do I suck it up and spend 60$ on the console version with expansions included. I know that seems rhetorical, but it's genuinely not.
The deluxe edition only includes DLC up to Utopia. Anything after that will have to be purchased separately, either individually or possibly on a season pass if paradox decide to go that way.
@@kleo9393 Thanks for the reply. Any clue as to how much one would have to spend to get the essential dlcs +game on PC? Paradox always seems to have a multitude of add-ons, with a rather hefty cumulative price tag.
RTS successfully made the transition to consoles and they aren't even turn-based. Heck even the Diablo franchise made it to console. I'm actually kinda surprised there isn't TBS genre on consoles already.
I think that the new pop & planetary system makes more sense Although love that Stellaris is on consoles now!! Let those pesky peasants enjoy the world of strategies!!
I used to love PC games, but I just want to play on my sofa. I still play PC games, but it's not as comfy. I'm glad that PC-only games are becoming less PC-only.
Jon. Outward needs to be the new series. It has loads of things you like such as, you need to eat, drink, sleep, keep an eye on heat (no wearing full metal armour in a desert), no minimap or marker on the map (you need to figure out where you are), failing quests actually punishes you (i heard a dev died to 2 bandits on the first mission and was forced to work in a slave mine), tactical combat (setting up traps before a fight, exploiting an enemys weaknesses and some other things) and no being an walking, talking weapon weapon bank
It's officially out, base game released on the 26th of February. Plantoids, leviathans and utopia will release in March, May and the summer respectively. Paradox have said they'd like to bring the game up to the current pc version in time but it depends how well the game sells on console.
i could live with most of the downgrades but i agree on hud/font scaling...it actually makes me not want to buy it. i have good vision and a 32 inch hd TV i keep about 8 feet from the seating if im leaning forward and this is still too small. otherwise i would buy this up in a hearbeat sense my desktop is a potato i havent got this yet. that issue and the possibility it cant slog thru endgame content without stuttering often makes my gut say 'DONT DO IT'...*Sigh*
Paradox and Microsoft announced mod support for Surviving Mars, mods for Stellaris on console have yet to be confirmed. However, that Paradox got mod access at all for console is a very good sign we may get them in the future.

Jon wants a slider that controls the number of sliders, and he wants that slider to be all the way to the right.
If jon was a God he would make sure sliders had sliders that controlled sliders that did nothing
Unfortunately if you slide the slider slider all the way to the left it self deletes.
Welkome to stellaris, *however, this is not a normaal stellaris*
Bamboozled again
This is being played by 1.7 rules, However it's not 1.7
Bamboolzed again again
As a console peasant, I approve.
I also agree with Jon about the giant space sausage.
I've never owned a console, to me they're plug-and-play computers that you buy for convenience rather than flexibility and power. That doesn't mean PCs are better, they're just different.

it work not work if it makes the x stutter it would crash the switch
Jon I'm pretty sure the Orbit/Atmosphere/Ground graphic has always been in old Stellaris and atmosphere is just showing armies landing in droppods
Yeah, I remembered that graphic, too. kinda surprised he didn't.

I saw this on console, so I bought the deluxe edition. It plays pretty smoothly on ps4 regular.
0:55, I had no idea this existed and if it looks good ill probably get it as I've been looking for a strategy game

You can actually critically fail an anomaly, and subsequently die, in 2.2. It happened to one of my scientists just a couple of days ago.
