@@Shebeast3 yeah, people ('fans') pressured him to come out and accused him of 'queer bating' or saying he needs to be bi to play the role and made him come out as bi, it was so wrong and unkind, as thanfuly lots of people have noted. I think that's what they are referencing, but please score me if I am wrong. But let's not take compleatly away from all the positives.

@@Shebeast3 yeah so Kit plays a straight character in an upcoming movie and "fans" of heartstopper basically started saying that he doesn't have a right to play a queer character as he does in heartstopper, if he's straight in real life. Kit was on the verge of being cancelled when he took a break from social media, briefly returning on Twitter to come out as bi. He has been opening up about this incident in recent interviews, and he regrets that he gave into the pressure of coming out even though he was not ready. He basically got accused of "queer bating" and got bullied into coming out when he was not even an adult and this just goes on to show how toxic social media can be for young minds.

He's actually just a good actor and an extrovert. Maybe he will host the Oscars (some day, if it still exists), or any other show really. Of course he can do it, but he can do a lot more 😋

I came out to my mom with the help of Nick’s coming out video! In India it’s a huge deal(she didn’t even know the term i was talking about) but Hindi translation in Netflix helped me 🇮🇳🏳️🌈

It’s so lovely to see queer representation like this. I’m Sebastian’s age and I didn’t get to be myself at school (I’m trans, came out at 13 but my parents didn’t accept it until a few years ago when they realised I wouldn’t be here much longer in that state). I feel a mourning for the childhood and most of my teenhood that I didn’t get to experience. I was very disassociated for most of those years, it must’ve been my brain’s way of coping, and I daydreamed constantly about a different life to live vicariously through. This show somehow helps me process all of it. It’s ok to feel emotional because I didn’t get to experience life in a comfortable or healthy way until 18. A lot of queer people I know feel this way, especially trans people, so I know I’m not alone.
My parents are supportive now which I appreciate, and while I’m confused as to why they didn’t support me until I reached my lowest point, I forgive them and I feel proud of them for changing their perspective a few years ago. If you can never accept an LGBT+ child, I don’t think you should be a parent. And if your kid tells you they think they’re queer, please don’t dismiss them. It’s a difficult enough time in the world with supportive parents when you’re queer, don’t let them feel as hopeless as I did
