I'm retired now (as of 2021) but I've followed you forever and I am just so happy to see you in your element these days! I miss the classroom so much but I get a kick out of watching you prep and your excitement for this coming year! You got me through my very last year as I was remote and it's not easy to teach an old dog new tricks but I seriously would NOT have been successful without your tips and tricks. I learned SO MUCH from you from that period! I was the gifted ed. teacher and I was thrown into a second grade, online classroom, as well as my own job and I'm just forever grateful that you shared your knowledge so I made it through! I feel like as a teacher, your impact is still on teachers, but expands directly to students as well and you and I both know the feeling of fulfillment that comes from that! Taking care of ourselves physically has EVERYTHING to do with being productive and successful as a teachers - so thank you!! My little youtube channel for faithfully fit teachers was only born because I have a passion for teacher productivity and you certainly inspire that!! I'm also trying not to be stressed about having just yesterday been told I can't even begin to move my class from one building to another until August 7th and the 1st day is August 14th!! They are doing major renovations on the buildngs, but I don't see how educators don't see the need to facilitate more time to prepare. Students will be in that room ALL YEAR - so it needs to look welcoming, organized and ready.

It’s just what I need when I get sucked into thinking about the upcoming year (whjch I shouldn’t be doing since I’ve only been on vacation for three weeks so far!). I have to point out that Billy was born the year I graduated high school! Man I feel old!😂 I would love to hear about how you modify your cleaning routine when school starts. Billy and I are birthday twins, OMG!! I am LOVING these teaching vlogs -- I'm going into year 5 but I'm switching from middle school ELA to Middle school Art (specifically digital art and design) so this is also helping me come up with things to buy/add to my new room now that I'm switching. :) Loving this journey for you!
Best thing I ever did was hire a house cleaner. She comes bi-weekly and just does a deep clean of our downstairs area (kitchen, bathroom, living and dining rooms, laundry room). She is worth her weight in gold. I will never, ever not have a cleaner again. It’s worth the expense so I don’t have to worry about that.
Hi Michelle Curious you mentioned you do daily Babbel lessons. Are you learning Spanish. I am interested in improving my Spanish for conversing with parents of students. I am currently just using free apps. Do you recommend Babbel. That was a great idea to do the PD for G/T. I have registered for the online but wish I had done it in person to have it completed. I love that you are going back to the classroom. But realize it will be a big adjustment from the flexibility of working from home especially when it comes to exercising, nutrition, and caring for your dog. I work from home now and I could never go back personally. My work-life balance is just so much better and healthier now. You may need to make some concessions on exercise or nutrition. Some things that you are used to doing may need to be cut or reduced.
@@teacherof20 so you do a language emerson school ive heard of those i just thought its crazy the counties around where i live switch starting in first grade. the school system i live in is in class for 8 hours a day and doesnt go on monday either
30 hours for training to teach gifted kids? That seems like a lot. I've been teaching a variety of grades for 20 years, and sometimes I have had one gifted kid in my class, and sometimes none.
