I started painting at 71 yrs in 1st lockdown, after my artist mother handed me her paints at 92yrs old due to sight issues, never painted before, I followed Felix and my god , I'm sending paintings everywhere for charity, god bless, your tutorials are unsurpassed and I've watched hundreds.
I love reading comments like yours. Art is something you can do for ever. There's no better feeling than having a passion for art. We are born to create.
Just beautiful. Your teaching is so soft and effective. I love listening to you. You are blessed by God and it shows I can't wait to do this one and definitely need to look into your classes, too. Thank you for sharing your talents with us
I think it's absolutely beautiful at 18 minutes and 30 seconds into it. I would let it dry and hang it just like that. Your voice is way too soothing. 🥰
I don't know the first thing about painting but I am totally mesmerized watching you take a blank sheet and creating something so beautiful. God Bless You, and keep painting, I'll be watching.
Here’s a tip: The purpose for the shape of that particular palette knife is the ‘cream’ the colors together, not “chop” them together. Think of it as spreading butter or peanut butter on toast, not chopping it on toast. If you did the latter, you’d probably make a huge mess and not spread it (or in this case mix it) consistently or thoroughly. What you want is an infinity or an “8” shape motion with your wrist with the blade up on its side while pushing the paint down to the palette in the process which squeezes the pigments, binders and ultimately the colors together. Then you want to scrape it all back into a center pile and repeat. This gets a creamier mixed consistency in less time. The palette knife is super thin and flat like this so you can do that with it and each knife shape is meant to be used with different techniques/ways. Sure, it works the way you did it and won’t harm anything doing it that way, but it’s always good practice to use your tools the way they were intended get the best use out of them and to teach others to do the same; kind of like teaching things like how not to leave your brushes in the water/using them to cram the paint onto the canvas, potentially ruining the glue underneath the ferrule or the hairs on the brush. And it’s always good advice to teach the proper way of doing things and once you understand why palette knives were created in the first place (to mix paint completely from scratch) you’ll realize why they are meant to be used that way (to really thoroughly grind the pigments and binder together).
ColorByFeliks+ Where is the light coming from? If the sun is setting, shouldn't that beautiful orange haze be colouring the water surface and the side of the boat should be darker? Btw like the sky :) Thank you for sharing.
Your sunsets are absolutely impressive and this boat seems to me like a misterios pirate ship. Love all the details and realistic sea water. Love everything about it! Wonderful painting 👏👏👏
Wow that sun was a masterpiece by itself! Love the colors you used, a perfect combination. You had me worried with the boat. The sails and masts were definitely alot! Great job, I love your work!
I'm not an artist period but such a huge Bob Ross fan and love tall ships. You've inspired Me to try this someday because it looks so wonderful. I help My Mother with dementia paint along to Ross and We have some success I think, but I would love to try one on My own after My Mother who I adore passes to Glory. God Bless.
I want to paint every painting I see on your channel - they are all so beautiful! Like you say, it's all in the details, and are you taking your time to show them to us. Great teaching videos, your voice is so calming, friendly, encouraging. Thank you for the inspiration!
You made a very difficult looking painting into a pretty simple pattern. Thank you so much for showing all the details, loved watching the procedure. You have made an absolute beautiful picture of sunset and a big ship. Always afraid to try this but I am going to try on this. love love thank you for this lovely scene.
This is very important that you are telling us what is dry and what is wet and when you tap and dry your brush because as a beginner it is the most difficult thing for me to figure it out and vast majority of tutorials do not cover that. Thanks.
This is stunning! The sun is amazing as is the ship! FYI, the tall sticks on the ship are called masts. Hope that helps. They can also be called spars, but usually masts. You help with my painting, I will help with expanding your English.
Ok i think i can NOW DO THIS PIC...(my favourite of all your pics)i have practiced n practiced on blending, clouds, etc..but now its the cresendo painting soon. Thanks dear friend.❤❤❤
You are an Awesome 🤩 ARTIST! 👨🎨 Sunsets 🌅 are one of my favorite things to paint 🎨. My first sunset 🌅 I painted in high school my art teacher LOVED 🥰 it! She put it on the art 🖼 of the week board 👍🏽🌅🎨
If, like me you think Felix is the reincarnation of Bob, so much so you fall asleep to the vids, bump it up in speed a little and you get the same info and technique, just without having to rewind when you wake up :D
I love your painting good job I like how you take your time I didn't have paint we on luck down so only can use what I have for now keep up you good work may God bless you and keep safe and thanks I try it with color pencils
Wow! Just Wow! I hope to one day paint even half that good. I had to watch without the sound due to my environment. I tried to read the closed captioning but couldn't pay close enough attention because I was mezmerized by your painting.
The video was of mid quality. We questioned his technique throughout. He was somewhat mouthy, we also feel as if he over complicated things. Overall me and my judge rate it 5.5/10. We thank you for your time!
I've been doing landscapes in oil with Bob Ross for several years now. My son got me interested in doing acrylic pours. They are fun, but I really like doing landscapes. I've tried doing a couple in acrylic but it's definitely different than using oils. I am very much looking foward to following along with this one and learning how to do this with acrylics.
Sir the acrylic i use normally dries too quickly n they are not heavy body . By the time i mix my colors on the palette n apply the first mix of colors dries . Any tip sir . Also I don’t have mop brush n any tip how to blend with normal brushes. Can u please make a video for this . Ur work is out of the world n truly inspired by you
Your paintings and methods are very nice. I have learned from you, and remembered some things I learned in my youth. Great job, Felix! I have seen the ocean on cruises, and believe it or not, the deep sea is a hue of green. Maybe add some green in ocean colors. I’ll have to look for old pictures, but I was shocked. I mean... Tidy Bowl green. 😆
He tells us over and over again to see & take things like our pref. of hues and color schemes where we want and see them in our heart after laying out and teaching us things on shadows and so forth. At times he tells us when he wants us to "Stick with" the colors he is laying out for us to mix, master and use those on that canvas "Only". Biggest of all I don't really think he was really digging deep and bursting his brain to be most "realistic" on this one. its just a BEAUTIFUL soul dig up on a ship sail in water hints the Pirate-esk Ship. I have been on pleanty of cruises and beach trips. I have been places at times of night and days where the waters looks "CRYSTAL CLEAR BLUE PINK ORANGE SKY, DARK BLUES SKYS AND IT TRADES JUST TURNING INTO NIGHT AND THE WATER STARTS TO LOOK PINKISH AND THE SKY STARTS LOOKING BLUISH GREENS. AND OR BROWNS IT DEPENDS AND WHERE YOU ARE WHAT TIME OF THE DAY OR NIGHT THE HIGHT OR LAY YOU ARE LOOKING FROM. BUT IVE BEEN PLACES WHERE IT ALMOST GETS YOU DIZZY BECAUSE ITS OVERWHELMING AND IT FEELS LIKE YOUR TRADING WITH THE SKY AND YOUR WALKING IN THE STARS. AND IVE ALSO BEEN PLACES IN THE ATLANTIC WHERE THOSE GREENS THAT WE ARE MORE USE TO POP UP AND OUT IN MORE WAYS. BUT PART OF @ColorByFeliks BEING A GREAT TEACHER AND ARTIST IS HE REMINDS YOU EVERY STEP OF THE WAY TO BE YOU AS HE IS TEACHING YOU HOW TO CREATE THE PEICES. JUST LIKE BOB ROSS. :) HAPPY MISTAKES

In English the posts that hold the sails are called the mast. And either fore mast or aft for the rear end. Great work!!! I love watching your process and it has helped me as I am beginning to paint more. Traditionally I do comic book and cartoon style drawing and also pen & ink etc. but have been experimenting with acrylics and oils more. Thank you!!!

Please make more beautiful pics like the sailboat you made.. That's a winner for sure and it seems that the colors you used everyone loved them. You have an eye for painting. Which planet did you come from. .not everyone can paint like ya. Thanks again!
Love the way you present the horizon and sun in your painting. So stunning! I usually paint in oils and not acrylics. Nevertheless you are an excellent acrylic painter Sir! I have learned a lot watching you! Cudos! Even when your mixing colors to use. Simply wonderful!

What a pleasure to listen to you. My art teacher at school was so harsh and formidable. I stopped painting. Now I want to start again. Thank you.

So beautiful and lovely to hear the children playing in the background. Thank you so much. 😊

The sticks that holds up the sails are called the Mast. Awesome job.
I didn’t know that, thank you for letting me know Alan and I’m glad you enjoyed this one! 😊

Actually the upright sticks are masts and the horizontal ones are spars as a general rule
I think the cross beams on the masts are called spars:-)
Just beautiful. Also, not to correct you, only to help, the things rolled up are called sails made of canvas. Thank you for your videos.

Thank you 😊
Awsome. Really VERY helpful for the beginners.
Soooooooooo beutiful specially shades of sky❤
Thanks! 😊
When using acrylics to slow drying down I make the back of the canvas wet.. This will give you a lot of open blending time.
Yes, that works great too! 👍
