  • The Waltham Forest Youth Independent Advisory Group, who have received training around CSE and are about to deliver youth-led workshops in schools on CSE awareness raising in schools, have been worked along the borough CSE lead, borough youth and engagement officer and Safer London to produce a video aimed at practitioners about victim blaming language to mark National CSE awareness day.
The video is a short, focused and powerful resource for all practitioners, to help them and others understand the impact on young people of victim blaming language.
    Fran Pearson, WFSCB chair said:
“The 18 March is National CSE day. I have heard from many agencies in the borough about the range of activities that are taking place to mark this important day and raise awareness not only of practitioners working with families but also business where CSE may occur. Many of you will be aware that Waltham Forest lead the way in 2014 and was the first London Borough to launch Operation Makesafe, aimed at business where CSE may occur.
"We are continuing to look at innovative ways of working in this area and I am very proud to launch a video targeting victim blaming language. The video was developed using material gathered from professionals and young people. The actors in the video are our own Youth Independent Advisory Group who have already delivered CSE awareness raising in schools. The message is simple but powerful and one I wholly support. Please disseminate this as widely as possible to your colleagues”
